1.Renowned actor Stirlin Brown wins new Golden Globe Award :-

Renowned actor Stirlin Brown has created a new history by winning the Golden Globe Award. He has been given this award for Best Actor in the television serial ‘This is Us’. Brown is the first African American American actor to receive the Golden Globe Award. Best Actress Award for Television Series was won by Elizabeth Maas for acting in the serial ‘The Handsome’s Tales’.

 

2.Jordan agrees to UN request to send aid to Syrian people stranded in conflict :-

Jordan has said that he agreed to send assistance to thousands of citizens of Syria stranded in border areas between the two countries at the request of the United Nations. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad al-Qaeda said that sending relief on the humanitarian basis on the Rukban border would be a one time action.

According to United Nations estimates based on satellite images, Syrian citizens have been stranded for several months in Syria between the 45-50 thousand Syrian side on the front border in the Rukban border area.

 

3.Ministerial talks between North and South Korea :-

Ministerial talks between North Korea and South Korea will be held on Tuesday in the ceasefire village Panamunjom. South Korea has said that the Ministerial level officials from both countries will participate in the upcoming talks with North Korea.

Officials will discuss other issues including improving inter-Korean relations and potential participation of North Korea in the next Olympic Games in Pyongchang, next month.

This will be the first of its kind since December 2015.

 

4.In the US and Canada, the snow storm hit the temperature below record level :-

Due to the cold winds in the eastern parts of the US and Canada due to the severe snow storm, the temperature has dropped below record level.

The temperature in Ontario and Quebec in Canada is at minus 50 degrees Celsius.

 

5.A hundred and a half bounce in the Sensex, a new figure of 34 thousand three hundred touched :-

The Bombay Stock Exchange has a bounce today. In the third trading session, the Sensex index surged by 171 points to 34 thousand 327. The day the Sensex was open at a new record height of 34 thousand 332.

 

6.British Todd defeated Neil Joshi of India in Under-15 Finals of British Junior Open Squash Competition :-

In the British Junior Open Squash Competition, Under-15 Final, Samuel Todd of England has defeated Neel Joshi of India. Umar al Torki of Egypt defeated Tushar Sahni of India in Under-17 in Birmingham.

 

7.Prime Minister’s address at the closing ceremony of DGP / IGP Conference in Takanpur :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the closing ceremony of the Conference of DGPs and Police Inspectors General of Police at BSF Academy in Taknpur today.

The Prime Minister said that since the nature of the conference and the changes since the year 2014, this conference is being carried out outside Delhi. He appreciated those officers who have been helpful in this change. The Prime Minister said that this conference has become more relevant now in the context of the challenges and responsibilities of the country. He said that the quality of the discussion discussed in the new format has improved significantly.

 

8.Prime Minister attended the conference of the Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reached the BSF Academy in Takanpur, Madhya Pradesh to attend the DGPs and Police Inspectors General Conference.

During this period, presentations were given on various topics related to safety and useful discussions were held. A presentation was given on the status of execution of decisions taken during the last three years.

During the meal, the Prime Minister held a series of discussions with selected groups of officers on special issues related to security and police. The Prime Minister’s conversation lasted for more than nine hours.

 

9.Government has proposed e-Parliament and e-legislation to digitize the Parliament and State Legislatures and make their works paperless :-

In the two-day conference, starting on 8 January in Rajasthan, Udaipur will discuss important issues like the whip of Parliament and State Legislatures and the effective governance of the Ministers of the various State Legislatures. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Ananth Kumar will launch the All India Whip Conference, which will discuss the e-Parliament and legislation on how to digitize and disseminate Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies in addition to other subjects. This conference is being organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Rajasthan Government. In the inaugural session of the conference, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje Scindia will be the chief guest.

 

10.India’s success in Arunachal after Dolaam, China shock :-

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has told the need to make India self-reliant in terms of defense needs. These small savings schemes are mainly included in the Post Office Deposit Scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra. Now the new deadline to link the base with these plans is March 31, 2018.

 

15.Applying anti-profit norms will be a challenge: CII :-

After the establishment of the National Anti-Profit Authority, now the Federation of Indian Industry has demanded more clarity on its rules to prevent price rise due to GST implementation. The official statement issued by the CII states that the practical implementation of rules without any clarity and greater clarity are needed as long as the system is not stable.
