Union Ministry of Labor and Employment , Employees State Insurance Corporation – ESIC and Employees Provident Fund Organization – EPFOAdditional benefits have been announced for the workers through The incidence of death due to the Kovid-19 epidemic is increasing and concern for the safety of their families among the workers is continuously increasing. To address these, the ministry has expanded the scope of benefits offered in ESIC and EPFO. Under ESIC all the dependent family members of the insured will be given its benefits. These benefits will also accrue even if the victim suffers from Kovid or the insured person dies from Kovid. To avail these benefits, the insured must be registered with ESIC at least three months in advance. EPFO has increased the benefit of Employees Deposit Based Insurance Scheme from a maximum of six lakh rupees to seven lakh rupees. This benefit will be available in case of premature death of the employee. For this, it is mandatory for the employee to be attached to the provident fund at least 12 months in advance.
