Raksha Mantri  Shri Rajnath Singh  attends   the swearing-in ceremony of the  President-elect of  Nigeria , Shri Bola Ahmed Tinubu,  in  Abuja  on  May 29, 2023 . The Defense Minister’s delegation included top officials of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), besides senior officials of the Defense Ministry. These officers held several meetings with representatives of the Nigerian Army and Government to identify their requirements that could be met by Indian defense companies. Business meetings were also held with Nigerian companies to enhance cooperation with both the countries.

2 ISRO and RRI, Bengaluru join hands to launch a mission named XPoSat

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)  and  Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru have  joined   hands to launch a mission named X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) . The purpose of this collaborative effort is to focus on the dynamics of bright astronomical X-ray sources, shedding light on their behavior and characteristics. It is the world’s second polarimetry mission to use X-rays after NASA’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) to be launched in 2021. EXPOSAT is developed in collaboration with ISRO and Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bangalore, Karnataka.

3 Chaired the meeting of the National Level Steering Committee of Atal Bhujal Yojana

 The fourth meeting of  the National Level Steering Committee (NLSC)  of  Atal Bhujal Yojana  was held  in  New Delhi under the chairmanship of Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation , Ministry of Jal Shakti . Atal Ground Water Scheme (Atal Jal)   Central Sector Scheme in 8220 water stressed Gram Panchayats of 229 Administrative Blocks/Talukas in 80 Districts of Seven States of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh from April  ,  2020 being implemented for a period of five years (2020-25).

4 Goan writer Damodar Maujo gets 57th Jnanpith Award

Damodar Moujo , a Goan  short story writer, novelist, critic and screenwriter in Konkani, has been   conferred with the  57th Jnanpith Award,  India’s  highest literary honour .   Maujo is the second Goan  to receive the award after  Ravindra Kelekar in 2008 . Maujo has 25 books published in Konkani and one in English. Many of his books have also been translated into different languages. Moujo’s famous novel ‘ Carmelin ‘   received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 .

5 Delhi Metro launches WhatsApp based ticketing service on Airport Express Line

Delhi Metro  launches   WhatsApp based ticketing service  on  Airport Express Line . Delhi Metro’s Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar inaugurated the service from Metro Bhavan. With the launch of this facility, passengers on the Airport Express Line will now be able to use WhatsApp chatbot based QR code tickets from their smartphones. This facility will make travel more convenient and seamless for national and international passengers arriving or departing from the airport, especially using the Airport Express Line. Passengers can access this unique service through WhatsApp number 9650855800.

6 All India Radio Dehradun Center: News will be broadcast in Garhwali language from 6:50 pm to 7:00 pm everyday from today

All India Radio  in  Uttarakhand  is going to start a new initiative towards the conservation and promotion of Garhwali  and Kumaoni languages. News will be broadcast in Garhwali language daily from 6.50 pm to 7.00 pm from Dehradun center of All India Radio. Apart from this, from June 1, news will be broadcast in Kumaoni language every day from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm on All India Radio.

8 US aircraft carriers visited Oslo

The world’s largest aircraft carrier,  the USS Gerald R. Ford  recently  made his first visit to Oslo ,  demonstrating NATO ‘s strength and solidarity  during a period of rising tensions between the alliance and Russia. The ship and her crew   will engage in a training exercise with the Norwegian Armed Forces , further strengthening the bilateral relationship between the United States and Norway. USS Gerald R. Ford left for Oslo, drawing attention as a symbol of NATO’s commitment to collective defense and deterrence. The visit serves as a visual representation of the close relationship between the US and Norway. At a time when tensions between NATO and Russia have risen because of the war in Ukraine, the aircraft carrier’s presence sends a powerful message of support.

9 Musk’s brain implant firm Neuralink gets US nod to start human trials

Elon Musk  ‘s  Neuralink is  a  neurotechnology  company that  develops brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). is developing. BCIs are devices that can record and stimulate brain activity. Neuralink’s goal is to create a BCI that can be used to treat neurological disorders such as paralysis and epilepsy. The company hopes to develop a BCI that can be used to enhance human cognition. Neuralink was founded in 2016 by Musk and several other engineers. The company has raised over $1 billion in funding from investors including Musk. Neuralink has a team of over 100 employees, and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. In 2020, Neuralink released a video of a pig that was implanted with a BCI. The pig shown in that video is able to control a computer cursor with its mind. Neuralink has also said it is working on a BCI that could be used to restore movement to paralyzed people. It remains to be seen whether Neuralink will be able to achieve its goals. However, the company is making significant progress, and is one of the leaders in BCI research.

10 Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari launched two mobile apps to increase efficiency and facilitate travel on National Highways

Road Transport and Highways Minister  Nitin Gadkari  discussed   various aspects of National Highways development in a meeting with the officials of National Highways Authority of India-NHAI  in  New Delhi . The meeting discussed ways to increase efficiency, remove bottlenecks and adopt innovative technology. Shri Gadkari stressed on accurate preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) to prevent project delays and reduce the cost of construction, encourage use of environmentally sustainable materials. He encouraged the officials to build a world class National Highway network in the country. Shri Gadkari   launched two mobile apps  to  increase efficiency and facilitate travel on National Highways .

In a big boost to 11 offshore wind energy projects, the government announced complete waiver of ISTS charges for 25 years for projects set up on or before December 31, 2032.

In a major decision, the government has   decided to exempt offshore wind projects  from   ISTS  charges (Inter-State Transmission Charges) and to further extend green hydrogen/green ammonia exemptions. The decision has been taken to promote the expansion of Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia projects and facilitate wider implementation of offshore wind energy initiatives to encourage renewable energy from energy storage system projects.  Full waiver of ISTS fee for offshore wind energy projects commissioned  on or before December 31, 2032, for a period of 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project , as per notification issued by the Ministry of Power  given. Offshore wind energy projects commissioned from January 1, 2033, will be given graded ISTS tariff. Earlier, all wind power projects were given exemption till June 30, 2025. Now, offshore wind will be treated separately and exemption for these will be provided along with graded transmission charges till December 31, 2032.

12 China sent a civilian to space for the first time

China has achieved a significant milestone  in its space program  by successfully launching the Shenzhou 16  spacecraft  with  3 astronauts on board  using  a Long March 2F rocket . This   is the country’s first mission to include  a civilian astronaut .  China has invested billions of dollars in its military-run space program, with ambitions to match the United States  and  Russia . This achievement  People’s Liberation Army This differs from the earlier practice of sending only astronauts to the U.S. The civilian astronaut, Gui Haichao, a payload specialist from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, will be responsible for the space science experimental payload. China’s space dream includes plans for a lunar base and crewed lunar missions by 2029, while the Tiangong space station will facilitate scientific experiments and test new technologies.

13 Increase in bird migration in Chilka Lake despite high temperature

Odisha  ‘s  Chilika LakeAsia’s largest brackish water lagoon, has seen a higher influx of migratory birds  this summer than in previous years  observed as a challenge in temperatures of 39 to 41 °C. The highest number of birds was recorded in Tangi range, followed by Balugaon, Satpada, Chilika and Rambha. The grey-headed swamphen or purple swamphen in particular was the most commonly seen species, followed by the Asian openbill stork, whiskered tern, little cormorant and little egret. Factors such as habitat improvement, food availability, and the removal of shrimp farms from the lake contribute to increased bird migration. Birds visit Chilka each winter and before the onset of summer begin their homeward journey, mostly from the Himalayan region in northern Eurasia, the Caspian region, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Lake Baikal and remote areas of Russia and neighboring countries are included. Some migratory birds preferred to remain in the lake instead of going to their native places despite the extreme heat. Flamingos and pelicans usually make late migration to Chilka. Although pelicans start their migration journey with the onset of monsoon, some flamingos also prefer to stay in the lake for years.

14 Central government issued a warning to the people about the dangerous malware named ‘Daam’

The central government has recently  issued a warning to the people about  the dangerous malware named ‘ Daam ‘  , which is specially designed for Android devices . Targets the phone. This advisory highlights the severity of the threat and provides important information on how to protect personal data and devices from potential attacks. Daam is a malicious software that has the ability to infiltrate Android devices and gain unauthorized access to various sensitive components including call records, contacts, history, and even the device’s camera. Daam malware mainly spreads through third-party websites or applications obtained from untrustworthy or unknown sources. By luring users to download and install infected files, the malware manages to bypass security checks implemented on Android devices.

15 Goa Foundation Day

Goa Foundation Day  was celebrated   on  30 May . Goa  was  the 25th state  to join India  . As India gained independence on 15 August 1947  , India requested the Portuguese to hand over their territories. However, the Portuguese refused. In 1961, the Government of India launched Operation Vijay and annexed Daman and Diu, the islands and Goa to the Indian mainland. On 30 May 1987, the region was divided and Goa was formed. Daman and Diu remained a Union Territory. Konkani is the official language of Goa.

World Vape Day  is an annual event   celebrated on 30 May . The day  is dedicated  to raising awareness of the potential benefits of vaping  as a  harm reduction tool for smokers . There is still some debate about the long-term health effects of vaping. However, the available evidence suggests that vaping is far less harmful than smoking.
