1.RBI to transfer surplus amount of Rs 50,000 crore to the government :-

The Reserve Bank has decided to transfer the surplus of Rs 50,000 crore to the government. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Central Board Directors of the Reserve Bank. In this meeting, the decision to transfer the surplus amount of 50,000 crore rupees to the government for the year ended 30 June, 2018 was taken. Giving an extra Rs 5,000 crore from the central bank, the government will get a lot of relief on the economic front

 

2.Prime Minister Modi will launch India Post Payment Bank on August 21 :-

On August 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) with 650 branches across the country. It will be the largest banking network in the country. In addition to lending to customers with IPPB banks and financial institutions, they will work to sell mutual funds and insurance policies. Communication Minister Manoj Sinha said that all the 1.55 lakh post offices in the country will be linked to the India Post Payment Bank by IPPB by the end of this year. The services of IPPB will reach around 1.30 post offices in rural areas. There are only 49 thousand bank branches in the countryside. Besides, postmen will also be seen in the role of banker besides sharing postal mails. Currently IPPB branches are working as pilot projects in Raipur and Ranchi.

 

3.Prime Minister will attend the event on the occasion of World Biofuels Day 2018  :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the program organized in Science Bhavan, New Delhi on August 10 , 2018 on the occasion of World Biofuels Day .

The Prime Minister will address the people present on this occasion , in which farmers , scientists , entrepreneurs , students , government officials and public representatives will be involved.

 

4.Cabinet clears issue of joint stamps between India and South Africa jointly :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet was apprised of jointly releasing the postal stamp between India and South Africa. Its content is ‘twenty years of strategic partnership between India and South Africa’. The joint ticket was released in June 2018.

Deindayal Upadhyaya on the United Smarak postal stamp of India-South Africa and South Africa’s Oliver Reginer Tampo are pictured. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between India and South Africa in May 2018.

 

5.Global Innovation Index ‘GII-2018’ launched in India :-

Government and industry should reconcile their efforts in promoting research and development and innovation in the country. This was stated on the occasion of Prime Minister’s Principal Advisor and Member Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, Mr. Ratan P. Vault, on the occasion of launching the Global Innovation Index 2018 in New Delhi on August 08, 2018.

This program was organized in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which is one of the founding partners of GII along with the World Intellectual Property Organization (VIPO).

India rose to 60th position in the Global Innovation Index (GII) from 2017 to 57th in 2018. India has been continuously improving its ranking in GII for the past two years.

 

6.Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker of the Harivansh, PM Modi congratulated the victory :-

NDA’s candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh won a big victory in the voting for Rajya Sabha’s Deputy Chairman. He defeated the opposition candidate BK Hariprasad by 20 votes. Harivansh got 125 votes while BK Hariprasad got 105 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Harivanshan on being elected the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. After the election, Shri Modi himself went to his seat to meet Harivansh. He joked that now everything is dependent on Hari in the House. In his praise, Modi said that Harivansh ji is rich in gypsum. Harivansh was a favorite of Chandrasekhar ji. The land that comes from (Ballia) He had a big role in the fight for independence. Ballia has played an important role in the revolution of August. Shri Modi said that Harivansh took journalism as a mass movement. While working with former PM Chandrashekhar, he maintained the dignity of his office. Shri Modi also said that while working with former PM Chandrashekhar, he knew that he was going to resign. But he maintained dignity of the post and did not publish the news till his newspaper. After the election, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Harivansh ji was the first NDA candidate, but after winning the election and becoming deputy, it has become the whole house, not of any one party. He is doing his job well, our best wishes are with him.

 

7.India will remain the engine of global economy for next three decades – IMF :-

International Monetary Fund – The IMF has said that for the next few decades the speed of global economy will be determined by the movements of the Indian economy. The IMF said that India’s role in the future will be exactly what China has in the global economy. India’s mission chief in the IMF Ranil Salgado said that India (contributing to PPP) is contributing 15 percent of the global economy which is a lot more. He said that in terms of role in the global economy, India is just behind China and America. He said that on the basis of PPP, it is giving a 15 percent stake in global development. In terms of trading, India is still behind China. But India will continue to be the backbone of the global economy in the long run. Mr. Salgado said that India is a country of youth and now it has time of nearly three decades, which is a long time. It is India’s time in Asia and only a few other Asian countries, Who have such a situation. He said that for the next three decades India will remain the basis of the global economy and this time can be even more. In the report, the IMF has projected 7.3 percent for FY 2018-19 and 7.5 percent of GDP for FY2019-20.

 

8.Kanchenjunga also included in UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserve :-

One of the world’s highest ecosystems, the Kanchenjunga Biosphere reserve of Sikkim has been included in UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserve (WNBR). Kanchenjunga is the 11th Biosafer Reserve of India to be included in this list. According to the uploaded document on the website of the Ministry of Environment, the Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve was included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserve in the 30th meeting of the International Coordinating Council of UNESCO (ICC) of Man and Biosphere (MAB) program in Palebang, Indonesia. Earlier, Nandadevi, Simlipal, Biosphere such as the Sunderbans and the Nilgiris have been included in this list. Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan tweeted and expressed his happiness over this development. Director Eric Falat of UNESCO in New Delhi congratulated India for this and appreciated the shared efforts of the Sikkim Government and India’s Man and Biosphere Committee.

 

9.Mahmood Khan appointed chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province :-

Pakistan’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Imran Khan, nominated Mahmud Khan as the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In the general elections held in July, Mr. Mahmud won the Swat District seat.

 

10.Government to pay more than salary in the current financial year – Ministry of Finance :-

The Ministry of Finance has informed that the pension payment made by the government for this financial year will be more than Rs. 10,000 crore more than the salary paid. The document of the Ministry of Finance tells that this trend will continue for another two years. According to the Expanded Framework, introduced in the Lok Sabha, the government’s expenditure on subsidies and interest payments will also increase in the coming years. However, the positive aspect is that by the year 2020-21, the government will be able to bring the fiscal deficit to the level of three percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). According to estimates, the government’s expenditure will be Rs 1.58 lakh crore, which was Rs 1.50 lakh crore in the last financial year. In addition, it is estimated to be worth 1.66 lakh crore in FY 2019-20 and Rs 1.74 lakh crore in 2020-21.

 

11.Australia’s big blow to the team, two star bowlers out of the Test series against Pakistan :-

Australia cricket team player Pat Cummins and Josh Hedgelwood are out of the Test series played against Pakistan in October. Both Cummins and Hedleywood are in rehabilitation due to injury in the back.

The team’s physiotherapist David Beckley gave this information. Beckley said Cummins and Hejalwood will not be fit for this Test series in the United Arab Emirates in October this year. They are both trying to recover better from their injuries.
