1.The Cabinet approved MoU between India and Brunei Darussalam on the operation of telemetry and telecommunication station for the satellite and launch vehicles and on cooperation in space research, science and application :-

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the consent memorandum (MoU) between India and Brunei Darussalam on the operation of telemetry and telecommunication stations for the launch of satellite and launch vehicles and cooperation in space research , science and application . This MOU was signed in New Delhi on July 19 , 2018 .

Benefit:

This MOU will help India continue its work to continue , maintain and improve the Ground Station operation for its space mission and launch vehicle . At the same time, it will help India to share its expertise and experience in space related activities through the training of officers and students of Brunei Darussalam on the applications of space technology .

Under this MoU, it will help in the operation , maintenance and up gradation of Indian ground station for the help of India’s space mission and launch vehicle in collaboration with Brunei Darussalam . Thus, it will benefit all the regions and regions of the country.

 

2.Cabinet has approved the new comprehensive plan ‘Prime Minister’s Ananda Rao Suraksha Abhiyan’ (PM-Aasha). :-

Keeping in view the strong commitment of the farmers’ favorable initiatives to the Government, the Union Cabinet has chaired the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in view of its commitment to Annadar, a new comprehensive plan called ‘Prime Minister Endowment Conservation Campaign’ (PM-ASHA) has approved. The purpose of this scheme is to provide a fair price to the farmers for their produce, which has been announced in the Union Budget of 2018.

This is an extraordinary step taken by the Government of India towards the protection of the income of the farmers, which is expected to facilitate a great extent in the welfare of the farmers. Following the principle of deciding one and a half times the cost of production, the government has already increased the minimum support price (KSP) of kharif crops (MSP). It is expected that due to the increase in MSP, the support of the State Governments will go a long way in the procurement system, which will increase the income of the farmers.

 

3.Cabinet approves capacity development plan from 2017-18 to 2019-20 :-

Under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval to continue the capacity development plan with an allocation of Rs 2,250 crore for the period of 2017-18 to 2019-20.

Capacity Development Plan is the ongoing central plan of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation. The objective of this scheme is to strengthen structural, technical and human resources to provide reliable and timely government statistics to policy makers and people.

 

4.Retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index was 3.69 per cent in August, 2018 :-

The Central Statistical Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, released the inflation data based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August, 2018 today. Meanwhile, CPI-based inflation for rural areas was 3.41 per cent (Provisional), which was 3.22 per cent in August, 2017. Similarly, CPI-based inflation for urban areas was pegged at 3.99 per cent (Provisional) in August, 2018, which was 3.35 per cent in August 2017. These rates were 4.11 and 4.32 percent (final) respectively in July, 2018.

The Central Statistical Office released the inflation data for August, 2018, based on the Consumer Food Prices Index (CFPI). During this period, CFPI based inflation for rural areas was 1.22 percent (Provisional), which was 1.38 percent in August, 2017. Similarly, CFPI based inflation for urban areas was pegged at (-) 1.21 percent (Provisional) in August, 2018, which was 1.67 percent in August, 2017. These rates were 2.18 and (-) 0.36 percent (final) respectively in July, 2018.

 

5.Two lakh kilometers of roads will be built till the government’s tenure is complete – Nitin Gadkari :-

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that till completion of the government’s five-year term, the Ministry will construct two lakh kms of roads in the country. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the Delhi-Saharanpur highway in Baghpat. He said that the previous state government had not given NOC certificate of Delhi Saharanpur route, which started this project after the arrival of Yogi Adityanath government. He said that this 154 kilometer long national highway will be developed in three phases.

 

6.IIM Ahmedabad left London Business School behind, because of this :-

According to the latest rankings of the British newspaper Financial Times, even though the best management institution in the world is Switzerland’s University of St Gallen, but it is at the fourth position in terms of earning graduates out of here. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata are in the first, second and third places respectively. Students who read here get more salaries than students studied with the rest of the world’s management institutions.

The London Business School, among the world’s most admired management institutions, is at the tenth position. Perhaps for one reason it is one of the reasons why Indian students are disillusioned with foreign educational institutions. According to a report released on Tuesday, the number of Indian students in British universities has decreased rapidly.

 

7.Twitter, Facebook will have to delete the terrorist propaganda material  within an hour :-

The European Union (EU) has proposed a move on Wednesday that the authorities must remove terrorist propaganda material for social networks and websites within one hour of receiving orders from the authorities. Failure to do so, companies like Facebook and Twitter may face heavy penalties.

The law proposed by Jean-Claude Junker, President of the European Commission, is a sign of adoption of a strict perspective, because Brussels relied on Internet firms to voluntarily remove such materials. The internet has become a major means of carrying out the attack for extremists, and hundreds of people have been killed in such attacks in European cities in recent years.

 

8.NRTI, India’s first Railway University started operations in Vadodara :-

In the transport sector, the first university  of the country  , National Rail and Transport Institute (NRTI)  has started operations in the country. Currently, it is functioning from the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.

Along with the University of California, Berkeley and Cornell University, funded by the Ministry of Railways, this university has started operating with two graduate courses – BSc Transportation Technology and BBA Transportation Management – with 50 students each.

 

9.Forbes nominated writer Preeti Shenoy wrote the new book ‘The Rule Breakers’ :-

Best Selling Writer Preeti Shenoy  has announced the launch of her new book  ‘The Rule Breakers’  . The book boasts of identifying complex subjects for women’s likeness, gender, and among others.

The novel established in the 90’s is the story of the Vedas, who wants to achieve big dreams, but is trapped in an array marriage and feels that its opinion does not make any difference in real life.

 

10.Hima Das was appointed as Ambassador of Assam :-

India’s talented runner  Hima Das was  appointed as the sports ambassador of Assam to inspire the emerging players of the North-East  so that the big and the younger generation seriously lent their goals to the game.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal  has first confirmed that Indian athlete Hima Das will be nominated as the state’s first sports ambassador. This announcement was made after becoming the first Indian woman to win gold at the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships of Hima Das.

 

11.IPPB compromised FSS to create paid network for unorganized retail sales :-

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB)  has   partnered with Financial Software and Systems (FSS) , with  the aim of creating a payment acceptance network of payments to consumers for unorganized retail sales including small traders and grocery stores  .

FSS is a payment technology company that ensures that micro-merchants  are able to accept payments on any channel – Online,  Integrated Payment Interface (UPI) ,  Quick Response (QR)  Code, Base and  IPPB  accounts . FSS will also provide merchant management and settlement solutions, including boarding fees calculation, reconciliation and settlement.
