1. CRPF celebrates 81st raising day

Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF celebrated its 81st Raising Day on 27 July.On the occasion, CRPF paid tributes to those who laid down their lives for the nation, at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi.It came into existence as the Crown Representative’s Police on 27 July 1939.After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on the enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

2. The first batch of Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters reaches India

The first batch of Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian Attack helicopters arrived at the Indian Air Force’s Hindon airbase.These are the first four of the 22 choppers ordered by India from the US.The AH-64E Apache is the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopter and is also used by the US Army.

3. Nepal invited to become partner country for Gita Jayanti Mahotsav 2019

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has invited Nepal to be the partner country for this year’s ‘Gita Jayanti Mahotsav’.The Mahotsav is scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra from December 3 to 8.Haryana has been celebrating Gita Jayanti Mahotsav for the last three years and every year a country is invited to become the partner country for the mega event.A seminar on the revered Shrimad Bhagavad Gita will be organised as part of the celebration on December 6, and the devotees and scholars from Nepal can participate in it.

4. 5th Dharma-Dhamma conference held in Rajgir

The fifth international Dharma-Dhamma conference was inaugurated in Rajgir by Union Minister of State Kiren Rijiju.200 delegates from 15 countries have registered themselves as participants in the conference.The main purpose of this conference is to address people about the terror, violence and global warming prevalent in the world.This two-day conference address the subjects of Sat-Chit-Ananda and Nirvana which are the pivotal topics of Buddhism.This conference is being hosted by Rajgir for the second time.

5. Railway’s first printing press heritage gallery opened

The Western Railway (WR) has thrown open to the public the first printing press heritage gallery of the Indian Railways at Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.Western Railway Mahalaxmi General Stores Depot (GSD) has become the first in Indian Railways to portray a heritage gallery of the printing and allied machines used in the Western Railway Printing Press since 1948, which are still in working condition.Parcel waybills and railway receipts for all zonal railways of India, along with stationery and money value items required for the Western Railway were printed at this press.

6. GST Council reduces the rate on Electric Vehicles to 5%

The GST Council has decided to reduce GST Rate on Electrical Vehicles from 12 per cent to 5 per cent.The Council also decided to reduce the rate on Electric Vehicle Chargers from 18 per cent to 5 per cent.The new rates will come into effect from the 1st of next month.The Council also approved an exemption from GST on the hiring of Electric Buses by local authorities.

7. Meryl Streep to become the first-ever recipient of Tribute Actor Award at TIFF 2019

Veteran star Meryl Streep will be honoured Tribute Actor award at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.The 70-year-old actor will be the first-ever recipient of the award.Streep is a three-time Oscar winner for The Iron Lady, Sophie’s Choice and Kramer vs. Kramer.The 44th Toronto International Film Festival is set to run Sept. 5-15.

8. Guwahati will host 3rd edition of Khelo India Youth Games

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the schedule of the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2020.The games will be held at Guwahati from January 18-30, 2020.The Games will see a participation of more than 10,000 athletes and officials.Khelo India is national level multidisciplinary grassroots games in India held for two categories, mainly U17 years school students and U21 college students.

9. Indian boxers finish Thailand Open campaign with bag 8 medals

Indian boxers finished their campaign at the Thailand Open in Bangkok with a rich haul of eight medals.These medals comprise a gold, four silver and three bronze.The Indian contingent’s performance was commendable considering some of the world’s best boxers from 37 countries had participated in the tournament.Asian Championships silver medallist Ashish Kumar bagged his first international gold in the 75 kg category.
