17.DAC approves procurement from Startups
For the first time, 14 items worth Rs 380.43 crore will be up for purchase from Innovations for Defense Excellence (iDEX) start-ups by the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) .has been approved. Of the 21,35,830 patients who were diagnosed in 2021, 20,30,509 patients were given TB-related treatment. In 2020, 83 per cent of the notified patients were treated successfully, while 4 per cent died while receiving treatment.

The Ministry of AYUSH has launched the world’s first multicentre Phase III clinical trial that will assess the efficacy of Ayurveda in Rheumatoid Arthritis treatment . The trial will be supervised by Dr. Daniel Erick Furst , a world-renowned rheumatologist at the University of California . AVP Research Foundation affiliated to Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Limited and Central Council for Research in Ayurveda (CCRAS) , Ministry of AYUSHwill conduct these tests. The study is expected to begin in May 2022 and will be completed in the next two years. The sample size for this study has been increased approximately 5-fold from 48 to 240 patients. Clinical trials will be done at three places. They are Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Metabolic Disorders, Bengaluru, AVP Research Foundation, Coimbatore and Raja Ramdev Anandila Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Cancer, Mumbai. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells. This causes swelling in the affected body parts. 24.Regulatory Framework issued by RBI for Microfinance Loans
Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) gave the freedom to microfinance institutions (MFIs) to set the interest rates that they charge borrowers, and also warned that the rates should not be high. These guidelines 1 April 2022will be effective. Earlier in the year 2021, RBI had proposed to lift the interest rate cap on MFIs. RBI revised the definition of microfinance loans to indicate collateral-free loans given to households with annual income up to Rs 3 lakh. Earlier the upper limit was Rs 1.2 lakh for rural borrowers and Rs 2 lakh for urban borrowers. As per the revised norms, Regulated Entities (REs) should formulate a board-approved policy on pricing of microfinance loans, interest rate ceilings and all other charges applicable to microfinance loans. Each regulated entity must disclose pricing information to a potential borrower in a standardized, simplified factsheet. There will be no prepayment penalty on microfinance loans. Penalty for delayed payment, The same, if any, would be applicable on the overdue amount and not the entire loan amount. Any change in the interest rate or any other charges will be notified to the Borrower in advance and these changes will be effective only prospectively.
