1 United Nations General Assembly accepts India’s proposal to set up a new memorial for martyred peacekeepers

The United Nations General Assembly  has accepted India’s proposal  to set up  a new memorial wall  for  peacekeepers  killed in the line of duty. India had proposed setting up a memorial wall for the martyred peacekeepers in the United Nations General Assembly. The proposal   has received a record 190 co-proposers . This is proof of India’s contribution and trust in its intention. The UN Martyrs Peacekeepers Memorial Wall resolution was tabled by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj in the General Assembly yesterday and was adopted unanimously. Ms. Kamboj said that the Memorial Wall will be a testimony to the peacekeeping efforts of the United Nations. He said that it will remind the sacrifice of the martyrs.

2 India will participate in Annecy International Animation Festival in France for the first time this year

India will participate in  the Annecy International Animation Festival-AIAF  in  France for the first time this year.  Participating in  An Indian delegation  led by  Information and Broadcasting Secretary  Apoorva Chandra along with eminent personalities from the animation industry at the AIAF showcasing India’s capability in creating animation and VFX content for a global audience. India recently  VFX for the global production center.  and   has emerged as the preferred destination for animation content. About India’s participation Mr. Chandra said, India  Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects and Comics Adopting world class and innovative technology with highly talented professionals in the fields of Animation & VFX in India The market was pegged at Rs 109 billion in 2021, with the VFX business alone accounting for Rs 50 billion. This figure is expected to increase to Rs 180 billion by 2024. Shri Chandra inaugurated the India Pavilion, which has been designed on the theme of Saraswati Yantra.

3 Five buildings from Telangana selected for International Green Apple Award for their beauty

Five buildings  in  Telangana have been selected for the International ‘ Green Apple ‘ award  for their beauty . The award   is given by the Green Organisation,  an independent organization based in  London . The buildings selected include the Telangana State Secretariat Building. Two temples of the state have also been selected under the religious category. For the first time an Indian building has been given this honour. Award-winning buildings include the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, the Integrated Command Control Room of the State Police, the renovated Yadadri Temple, and the historic Moazzam Jahi Market.

4 Vaibhav Fellowship Program announced to connect Indian Diaspora with Indian Higher Educational Institutions

The Union Government  has launched a new fellowship program to engage the Indian STEAM diaspora with the country’s teaching and R&D institutions in collaborative research  to share knowledge, wisdom and best practices in cutting edge areas of science and technology.  Global Indian Scientist (VAIBHAV)   to be implemented by  the Department of Science and Technology (DST)  under  the Ministry of Science and TechnologyThe fellowship program will be awarded to outstanding scientists/technologists of Indian origin (NRI/OCI/PIO) who are engaged in research work in their respective countries. The selected 75 Fellows will be invited to work in 18 identified knowledge verticals including quantum technology, health, pharma, electronics, agriculture, energy, computer science and materials science. The Vaibhav Summit was organized by the Government of India to connect the country’s STEAM migrants with Indian institutions, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was attended by over 25,000 people and Indian STEAM from more than 70 countries. The migrants had deliberated in this.

5 Approval of  Developing Nation Status Act

The US Senate  Foreign  Relations Committee  recently   approved  the Developing Nation Status Act , which seeks to remove China  ‘s ” developing country ” status. The move follows similar action taken by the US House of Representatives in March. The legislation, officially called the Developing Nation Status Act, was passed unanimously by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Its main goal is to constitute US policy against granting China “developing country” status in future treaties and international organizations. The act directs the secretary of state to actively change China’s status as a “developed country” in relevant agreements.

6 HPCL tests E27 fuel

Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL)  has launched an ambitious pilot study,   becoming  the first oil marketing company  in India to conduct extensive research on vehicles using E27 fuel and ethanol blended diesel fuel. The initiative is in line with the ethanol blending roadmap outlined by the Government of India, which aims to achieve 20% ethanol blended gasoline (E20) by 2023 and ensure its wider availability. Preliminary studies on vehicles running on E27 have demonstrated a significant reduction in emissions, especially carbon dioxide, compared to conventional gasoline. HPCL’s pilot study on E27 fuel is aimed at assessing its performance and emissions in engines and vehicles through extended mileage accumulation.

7 Indian Navy’s Outreach Program Jule Ladakh (Hello Ladakh)

The Indian Navy is conducting an outreach program ” Julai Ladakh ” (Hello Ladakh)  to raise awareness about the service in the  new state of  Ladakh and engage the youth and civil society there. To this end, Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, flagged off a 5000 km motorcycle expedition from the National War Memorial on 15 Jun 23. The Indian Navy had earlier made a similar attempt in the North East which was highly successful. The Indian Navy also launched the Sum No Varuna: Car campaign to engage with citizens in all coastal states.

8 Tamil Nadu government withdraws general consent to CBI

Recently  the Tamil Nadu government  has decided to withdraw the general consent  given to  the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  to investigate in the state  . This means that henceforth the CBI will have to seek the approval of the Tamil Nadu government to conduct investigations in the state. The general consent given to the CBI allows the agency to carry out unhindered investigation into corruption cases involving central government employees. It facilitates access of the agency to conduct investigation without seeking specific permission for each case. The objective of this agreement is to speed up the investigations related to corruption and ensure smooth proceedings.

9 Live Chikungunya Vaccines Tested

 A new study published in  The Lancet  highlights the promising results of a Phase III clinical trial  of  a live chikungunya vaccine . The vaccine aims to protect individuals from the debilitating  mosquito-borne disease  that has spread to various regions. The Phase III trial involved testing a live vaccine for chikungunya on human participants. A vaccine  has been tested in humans for the first time, raising hopes of an effective solution against the disease. Chikungunya,  first discovered in Tanzania in the 1950s A viral disease that has spread to tropical regions such as Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Thailand. The virus is spread by the Asian tiger mosquito, indicating a growing threat due to climate change.

10 Three-day G-20 Agriculture Working Group meeting begins with enthusiasm in Hyderabad

The 3-day meeting  of the Ministers under  the Agriculture Working Group (AWG) of the G-20  began on a high note  in  Hyderabad . More than 200 delegates from member countries, invited countries and international organizations are participating in the meeting. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare  Shri Narendra Singh Tomar  said that priority areas of agriculture are being discussed in the meeting. These areas form the basis of this year’s Agriculture Working Group. Shri Tomar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is fully committed towards food security and nutrition, policies have been made accordingly and its successful implementation is also being ensured.

11 Reuters Institute’s Digital News Report 2023 adjudged DD India and All India Radio as the country’s most trusted media organizations

DD India  and  All India Radio  have   been recognized as the most trusted electronic media organizations in the country  according to  the Digital News Report 2023 by Reuters Institute . Public service broadcasters and legacy print brands have maintained their high levels of credibility, the report said, despite a small drop of three per cent in news credibility. The report states that public service broadcasters DD India and All India Radio are among the broadcasters with the highest level of credibility.

12 India committed to strengthen relations with African countries in the field of trade, knowledge and technology transfer – Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal

Union Commerce and Industry Minister  Piyush Goyal  has said that India   is committed to further strengthen ties with African countries  in the field of  trade, knowledge and technology transfer . Shri Goyal at the 18th edition  of  CII-EXIM Bank Conference on India-Africa Development Partnership  in   New Delhi While addressing, emphasized on strengthening the alliance with India. He said that India is the fifth largest investor in Africa with an investment of $74 billion. Expressing satisfaction over the bilateral trade, he said that it has grown by nine to ten percent last year. Referring to the target of $200 billion India-Africa trade, Shri Goyal said that Indian companies are looking for more opportunities in African countries.

13 10 women researchers from India and 2 from Germany will be supported to participate and collaborate in Research and Development and Innovation (R&D&I) projects under the Indo-German Science and Technology Center (IGSTC)

 To promote women researchers in India/Germany to participate and collaborate in ongoing R&D and innovation projects on the occasion of 13th Foundation Day of Indo-German Science and Technology Center  (Indo-German Science and Technology Center-IGSTC)  Ten women researchers from India and two women researchers from Germany were awarded under the  ‘ Women ‘s  Participation in Science and Engineering Research ‘ (WISER) programme. They will receive financial support and will not need to apply for any new project grants in partner countries.

14 Parker Solar Probe discovered the source of the solar wind

Parker Solar Probe , one of NASA’s pioneering  solar missions has come close to the Sun to unravel its mysteries . This important mission has discovered the source of the solar wind. The solar wind is very important to understand because it carries particles and energy from the Sun’s corona towards Earth. Researchers at the University of California-Berkeley  have measured the solar wind using data collected by Parker Solar Probe.  shed light on the origin of This stream of particles originating from the Sun’s corona is an essential component of space weather that can affect our planet. The discovery of the source of the solar wind is a momentous moment for scientists. This enables more accurate predictions of space weather and solar storms, which can have profound effects on Earth’s technological infrastructure and communications networks.

15 Phosphorus was discovered on Saturn’s moon Enceladus.

Researchers have   discovered the presence of phosphorus  in  icy particles  ejected from  Saturn  ‘s moon  Enceladus .  This discovery opens up new possibilities for understanding the potential habitability of celestial bodies beyond Earth  . Phosphorus  is a fundamental unit in the structure of DNA and RNA ,  making  it  a vital element for life . It   plays an important role in cell membranes and energy-carrying molecules . The discovery of phosphorus on Enceladus suggests that this moon contains the essential building blocks for life.

16 First Tribal Sports Festival organized in Bhubaneswar

Odisha  ‘s first Tribal Sports Festival  concluded   at   KIIT , with Odisha  emerging as overall champion  in both men’s and women’s sections  . The event has attracted approximately 5,000 indigenous athletes and 1,000 officials representing 26 states. It is a joint effort of the Government of Odisha and the Union Ministry of Culture. The inauguration ceremony of the program was attended by Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr. Achyut Samant, founder of KIIT and KISS.

17 International Football Federation FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura’s departure fixed

International football federation  FIFA  has announced that Secretary General  Fatma Samoura will step down at the end of the year after  seven years  in office. Fatma Samoura   is the first woman to hold the position of Secretary General of FIFA. No information has been given about the name of the next General Secretary. Samoura was first appointed in May 2016 after more than two decades working for the United Nations and women’s football in the world has seen phenomenal growth during her tenure at FIFA.

18 Asian Cricket Council has announced the schedule of Asia Cup 2023

Asian Cricket Council  has   announced the schedule of Asia Cup 2023 . The tournament   will be played from 31 August to 17 September . A total of  13 matches  will be played in this. Out of this,  four matches will be held in Pakistan and the remaining 9 matches  will be held in Sri Lanka. The tournament   has teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan . The tournament will consist of two groups, with two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage. After this stage, the top two teams will compete in the final.

19 June 15: World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day  is observed  every year  on 15 June . The day raises awareness about abuse (verbal, physical or emotional) of elderly populations around the world. The United Nations has chosen the theme for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2023 as “ Closing the Circle: Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Older Age Policy, Law, and Evidence-based Responses .” designated as The day began to be celebrated in June 2006 following requests to declare June 15 as a special day for the elderly. However, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) officially recognized the day in 2011.
