1 Uttar Pradesh became the first state in the country to issue maximum 5 crore Ayushman cards.

Uttar Pradesh   has become the first state in the country to issue five crore Ayushman cards  under  the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana . According to the release of the state government, five crore 17 thousand nine hundred twenty Ayushman cards have been issued in the state. Seven crore 43 lakh 82 thousand three hundred four people have benefited from this.

2 Nicaragua becomes first Spanish-speaking country to recognize Indian pharma standards

Nicaragua   has become the first Spanish-speaking country in the world  to recognize the  Indian Pharmacopoeia . India and Nicaragua have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Pharmacopoeia on cooperation in the field of regulation of medicines. The agreement was signed by India’s Ambassador to Nicaragua Sumit Seth and Nicaragua’s Health Minister Martha Reis. The Indian Embassy in Nicaragua has said that countries should have either their own pharmacopoeia or the pharmacopoeia of another country to refer to the standards of drugs manufactured and consumed in that country. Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which has been created to set standards of drugs in the country.

3 Three-day International Geeta Mahotsav begins in Sri Lanka

International Geeta Mahotsav  is being celebrated  for the first time in  Sri Lanka .  Addressing the festival at  the Nelum Pokuna Theater in Colombo,  India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha  said that the Bhagavad Gita supports ideological freedom and tolerance and inspires every person to have his own point of view. The 3-day International Geeta Mahotsav   is being organized at Nelum Pokuna Theater Complex with the financial support of  Kurukshetra  Development Board, Haryana . This celebration, which will start from March 1, will continue till March 3. Thousands of delegates from across the world are expected to attend the festival. There will be Geeta Yagya, Geeta chanting, Shobha Yatra, conferences on many topics of contemporary interest and many competitions.

4 Daljit Singh Choudhary gets additional charge of NSG Director General

The Central Government has announced that  1990 batch UP cadre IPS officer Daljit Singh Choudhary  has   been appointed as the Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG) . IPS Daljit Choudhary  was appointed Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)   following an order issued by  the Ministry of Personnel on 18 January 2024 and currently he is the Director General of SSB. He has been given the additional charge of NSG chief.

India has stopped the water of  Ravi river  going towards Pakistan .  The construction of the dam, which has been waiting for completion for 45 years  , has stopped the water flowing from the Ravi river towards Pakistan.  India has   exclusive rights over the waters of Ravi  under the  ‘ Indus Water Treaty’ signed in 1960 under the supervision of   the World Bank  . Shahpur Kandi Barrage  located in  Pathankot district of  Punjab   was stopped due to the dispute between Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, but due to this, a large part of India’s water was going to Pakistan for the last several years. Its biggest benefit will be to more than 32,000 hectares of land in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu. Under the Indus Water Treaty, India has full rights over the waters of Ravi, Sutlej and Beas, while Pakistan has rights over the waters of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab. In 1979 the governments of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir signed an agreement to build the Ranjit Sagar Dam and the downstream Shahpur Kandi Barrage to stop Pakistan’s waters.

6 Ghana’s Parliament passes anti-LGBTQ bill

West African country Ghana  has  passed a controversial bill curtailing  LGBTQ rights in Parliament. Many activists across the world have opposed the decision of the Parliament of Ghana. After this decision, there is talk of deepening discrimination against the LGBTQ community in Ghana. If the provisions of the bill are to be followed, people from the LGBTQ community can be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from six months to three years. Besides, a provision has also been made for a jail sentence of three to five years for promoting and supporting gay rights.

9 Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme will be reinstated in Telangana

The Telangana government  will   again include  the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana program to protect the losses caused by  natural disasters  and in the interest of farmers  . Chief Minister  A. Revanth Reddy  said in a release that no crop insurance scheme is running in the state after the BRS government walked out of the program in 2020. The release said that keeping in mind the interests of the state, the Chief Minister has decided to maintain cordial relations with the BJP-ruled government at the Centre. The Chief Minister held a meeting with Agriculture Minister T. Nageswara Rao and Ritesh Chauhan, Chief Executive Officer and Joint Secretary, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the Union Home Ministry, in Hyderabad yesterday.

10 Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund

The World Trade Organization (WTO)  and  the International Trade Center  (ITC) launched the  Women Exporters Initiative to Help Women  Access Opportunities in  International Trade and the Digital Economy  during  the 13th Ministerial Conference  in  Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. in  the Digital Economy- WEIDE) Fund  launched a US  $ 50 million  Women Exporters Fund  . The Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund aims to help women-led businesses and entrepreneurs in developing and least developed countries adopt digital technologies and grow their online presence. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has allocated US$5 million as the first donor to the fund.

11 Bengali translation wins prestigious Romain Rolland book prize for 2024

The recipient  of this year’s  Romain Rolland Book  Prize is Pankaj Kumar Chatterjee  , who  made a remarkable translation of Jean-Daniel Baltasat  ‘s “ Le Diwan de Stalin ” into Bengali, titled “ Staliner’s Diwan ”. Published by New Bharat Sahitya Kutir, Kolkata, Chatterjee’s translation is known for its linguistic proficiency and fidelity to the original text. This is the second time that a Bengali translation has been honored with this prestigious award. “Le Divan de Stalin”   highlights an important episode in the life of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin .
