2. Indian Agricultural Research Institute developed high yielding and short growing duration variety of paddy – 2090.
Amidst the challenge of air pollution in the National Capital Region of Delhi due to burning of paddy straw , the Indian Agricultural Research Institute has developed a high-yielding and short-duration variety of paddy – 2090. This will help in dealing with air pollution. Usually the paddy crop grown in June is ready for harvesting at the end of October. This leaves farmers very little time to prepare their fields for wheat sowing. The new variety of paddy is an improved variety of the currently used Pusa-44. The new variety ripens in only 120 to 125 days whereas Pusa-44 takes 155 to 160 days. By growing the new variety, farmers will get about thirty more days to prepare their fields for the next crop. Scientist of the institute, Pralay Kumar Bhowmik, while talking to All India Radio, expressed confidence that the problem of stubble burning would be solved with the Pusa Do Zero Nine Zero variety.

The border forces of India and Nepal have committed to strengthen bilateral efforts with emphasis on preventing cross-border crimes and trafficking of arms, ammunition and human beings. 11 Rare Red Aurora seen in Ladakh
A spectacular and rare phenomenon – a bright red aurora – was recently observed at the Hanle and Marak night sky observatories in Ladakh . As per recent data, Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Program (LLLAP) was reached to more than 6 lakh people through 14 implementing agencies under the Creating Innovative Solutions for Universal Access to Justice (DISHA) scheme. LLLAP is an initiative of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India aimed at increasing legal literacy and awareness among the public. The objective of this program is to educate people about their legal rights, duties and entitlements as well as various legal mechanisms available for redressal of grievances. Disha has been launched for a period of five years i.e. 2021-2026 to further the objective of access to justice. Its objective is to design and integrate various initiatives for citizen-centric access to legal services. The programs being implemented at all India level under Disha are Tele-Law: Reaching the Unreached, Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) and Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Programme.
13 Russia out of Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
Recently Russia has withdrawn from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) . The CTBT bans all nuclear tests for both military and civilian purposes. This treaty was discussed at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva in 1994 , and it was also adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. The CTBT was signed by 187 states, including Russia and the United States, but has not entered into force because it has not been ratified by eight states, including the United States.
