1.Vice President meets and greets the Tableaux Artistes and Tribal Guests :-

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Smt. Usha Naidu have met and greeted the Tableaux Artistes and Tribal Guests who participated in the Republic Day Parade – 2018, in their residence here today. About 2000 Tableaux Artistes and Tribal Guests including the officials and support staff have spent about two hours with Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Smt. Usha Naidu.

The Vice President said that performance of different artistes from different part of the country at one platform reflect the unique identity of our nation – ‘Unity in diversity’. This brings the national harmony and universal brotherhood, he added.  

The Tableaux Artistes have performed different cultural events, which were performed during the Republic Parade – 2018, before the Vice President and hundreds of other invitees. Artistes from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh have participated in the performances.

The Members of Ministry of Sports have performed breath-stopping ‘Mallakhamba’ Sport, which impressed everyone present there.

 

2.‘Bharat Parv’ Event Generates Patriotic Mood And Promotes Rich Cultural Diversity of India :-

‘Bharat Parv’ event being organized  by the Ministry of Tourism, Government  of  India  at  the   Red Fort, Delhi  from  26th to 31st  January, 2018 is generating  a  patriotic  mood and  promoting  the  rich  cultural  diversity  of the country.  People in large number are visiting it. The entry to the Parv is free and it open for public from 12.00 Noon to 10.00 pm. However,  identity  proof  is  to  be  carried  for  entry  to  the event.

Today, The Army, Air Force and Navy presented Static Band and Army also displayed Dynamic Band. The classical singing programme was performed by the artists from Chandigarh. Garba Raas was presented by the artists from Gujarat; Parinay Sutra was performed by the artists from Bihar; Badhai was presented by the artists from Madhya Pradesh; and Sehariyas, Gair and Chakri were performed by the artists of Rajasthan. At last, the artists of North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) presented a Choreographed performance on Pan India Basis.

 

3.Government holds All Party Leaders Meet ahead of Budget Session 2018 of Parliament, beginning :-

Addressing floor leaders of parties in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha here today, ahead of the Budget Session 2018 of Parliament beginning tomorrow, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi said that Government gives huge importance to the issues raised by all Political Parties and exhorted all Political Parties to collectively strive to create a constructive atmosphere in Budget Session to achieve National Good.

Further, Shri Modi encouraged all political parties to prevent tokenism in different Standing Committees of the Parliament and play a more constructive role to give concrete solutions to issues of national importance brought before the Committees. The Prime Minister urged all the leaders present to develop the Committee system of Parliament as a role model of Participative Democracy that may be adopted across State Legislatures in India.

 

4.Raksha Mantri felicitates winners of Republic Day Parade participants; Punjab Regiment gets best marching contingent, Maharashtra best tableau :-

Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman gave away Republic Day Parade 2018 best contingent and tableau awards at makeshift Rashtriya Rangshala Camp, Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt today.

Among the Three Services, Punjab Regiment Contingent was awarded the best marching contingent. Indo-Tibetan Border Police was awarded the best marching contingent among the para-military and other auxiliary forces.

A total of 23 tableaux, out of which 14 from States & Union Territories, two from Ministry of External Affairs depicting long socio-cultural, religious, educational & trade relations between India & ASEAN countries and the rest of the tableaux from other Ministries/Departments participated in this year’s Republic Day Parade. Tableau from Maharashtra depicting coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was awarded the first prize. Tableau from Assam depicting traditional masks and sastras begged second prize. Tableau of Chhattisgarh, which depicted Ramgarh’s ancient amphitheatre along with artistes performing dance, based on Kalidasa’s Meghadootam, was awarded third prize.

 

5.Secretary Telecom Reviewed the Benefits to Rural People under GoI’s High-speed Broadband Project, BharatNet in Remote Rural Areas of Rajasthan :-

Remote Gram Panchayat Hamira in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan will soon have access to telemedicine and e-education facilities, riding on BharatNet infrastructure, according to Ms Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom.  Hamira is one among the one lakh Gram Panchayats (GP) covered under BharatNet Phase 1, which was completed by 31 Dec 2017.  In Rajasthan 8117 GPs are service ready under BharatNet Phase 1

As part of Government’s focus on utilizing the BharatNet infrastructure created in different GPs to provide high-speed broadband internet and internet-based services, Telecom Secretary Ms Aruna Sundararajan visited various GPs in Jaisalmer district and held interactions with the GP authorities and the public to understand the appetite for the last mile connectivity.

 

6.India’s rich ‘Guru-Shishya’ tradition to be hallmark of Khelo India School Games (KISG) Opening Ceremony :-

The legendary Indian tradition of ‘teacher-and-student’, referred to as the “Guru-Shishya Parampara” will be celebrated in grand style at the Opening Ceremony of the inaugural Khelo India School Games (KISG) at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on January 31. Depictions of numerous coach-athlete combinations in sports ranging from archery to wrestling and from across the country will be part of the spectacle.

A poignant part of the ceremony will train the spotlight on some wonderful and well-known combinations of coaches and athletes from the disciplines that form a part of the Khelo India School Games (KISG) programme. This will ensure that the coaches, who teach basics to their students, and help them become elite athletes are given their due recognition.

 

7.Khelo India Pledge Launched at the Khelo India School Games Carnival :-

NEW DELHI, January 28, 2018: Following the launch of Khelo India School Games earlier this month, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports today launched the PLEDGE for Khelo India at the Khelo India School Games Carnival in Delhi. The pledge is a promise to participate and encourage sportsmanship spirit and it is aimed at inspiring youngsters to build mass participation and excellence in sports. The Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took the pledge today at the carnival.

Tied together with impactful words, the pledge resonates with the vision of the programme, and inspires young Indians to inculcate sport as an indispensable part of their lives. The pledge will be a crucial aspect of every Khelo India activity and will be taken before the commencement of every game. To expand the reach of the pledge it will be shared with one million plus schools across the country – who will impart the pledge to students and teachers. This drive will ensure that millions of students along with their teachers and parents take the pledge to support Khelo India and bring it to the forefront as the largest sporting movement in the country.

 

8.Vijay Gokhale took charge of Foreign Secretary, S. Jaishankar’s place :-

Vijay Keshav Gokhale took over as Foreign Secretary Gokhale, who played a key role in resolving the Dolaam controversy, replaced S Jaishankar.

 

9.ASSOCHAM budget to be kept in 2018, education sector should be kept out of GST scope :-

The Indian Council of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) has demanded to spend more education and higher education in the forthcoming general budget of 2018, out of the realm of goods and services (GST).

In a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the Industry Board has argued that in view of the risks of external state regulations and the nuisance within the campus, the higher education institutions can neither afford the new tax burden nor do they Can increase fees. This will be the first general budget after GST is implemented across the country. Now the time has come that the problems in the education sector are being corrected due to repeated amendments.
