Vice-President Shri Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone of Southern Campus Building of National Disaster Management Institute (NIDM) in Kondapavuluuru village of Gannavaram Mandal in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday (May 22, 2018). Minister of State for Home, Mr. Kiren Rijiju and other officials of the Central and State Government will be present in the function.

 

2.Home Minister attended the passing out parade of CRPF’s 241 Battariya battalion in Chhattisgarh :-

The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh today joined the passing out parade of CRPF’s 241 Battariya battalion in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Home Minister appreciated the efforts of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the State Police to counter the Left extremism.

 

3.India Receives First Cargo of Adnoc Crude Oil for its Mangalore Strategic Petroleum Reserve :-

India received the first cargo of UAE’s crude oil to fill one of the two safari cavities from the two strategic petroleum reserves (SPR) Kandra (Cavern) built in Mangalore by Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL). Earlier on May 12, Hon’ble Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan and the Minister of State (United States) of UAE and Abu Jabber, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Adonoc Group’s Chief Engineer, M. Inspiration ‘To 2 million barrels of crude oil, which was from Dubai’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnock).

 

4.Successful test of BrahMos missile for validity of service life extension :-

Image result for Defense Research and Development Organizationsuccessfully tested the BrahMos cruise missile from Integrated Testing Center (ATR) at Chandipur, Odisha. This test was done to increase the service period of the BrahMos Cruise missile. The tests of the missile were seen by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Brahmos scientists.

With the test, the missile ran on the determined route and its equipments worked with completeity.

BrahMos is a joint venture between India’s DRDO and NPOM of Russia. The BrahMos missile has emerged as the best weapon in modern warfare and its speed, aim and firepower are unmatched.

 

5.India decided to include Artificial Intelligence in its defense forces to increase operational preparedness :-

Defense Production Secretary Ajay Kumar told news agency ANI Said in the interview that a workforce has been constituted under the chairmanship of Tata Sons President N. Chandrasekharan to finalize the project’s framework and specifications. He said that most of the major countries of the world are taking steps to ensure the use of artificial intelligence in their defense systems.

 

6.Terrorist organizations in Syria-Islamic State fighters started evacuating their last fortress South Damascus :-

7.By the end of this year, 250 service centers will be set up in 2.5 lakh gram panchayats: Ravi Shankar Prasad :-

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that by the end of this year, the network of General Service Center will reach two lakh fifty thousand village panchayats. Shri Prasad visited Danouri Kalan village of Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. This is the 6th Digital Village of the country.

On this occasion, Shri Prasad said that the general service center is a symbol of change. With this, services such as banking, pension, digital literacy and telemedicine are being provided through the electronics infrastructure in rural and remote areas. Our correspondent has said that these centers are currently working in one lakh 80 thousand villages.

 

8.India’s Seiyan and Sunil Silver in Thailand Open :-

9.Nadal made record for the eighth time by winning the title of Italian Open Tennis Tournament :-

10.External vendors who serve the canteen of offices and factories must give 18 percent GST :-

18 percent GST will be levied on canteen services provided by outside vendors (vendors) in offices (offices) and factories. This information is provided by the Authority of Advanced Ruling.

The Gujarat Bench’s authority of Advance Ruling has been ordered to hear the petition filed by Rashmi Hospital Services during the hearing. In this petition, it was asked that the GST rate would be 12 percent or 18 percent on supply to the non-air conditioned canteen of the office.

  1. NMDC got S & P Platts Global Award 2018 :-

This is the first time since the beginning of this award that an Indian company received an award in this category. The S & P Global Plates Global Metals Award recognizes the main performer- industry leaders and innovators.
