Indian Institute of Technology- IIT Hyderabad has developed a low-cost, lithium-ion battery powered, convenient to carry and internet enabled ventilator. The name of this smart ventilator is ‘ Jeevan Lite ‘. It was recently inaugurated by Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan . This ventilator can be controlled through an app from any smartphone. ‘Jeevan Lite’ is now also available for commercial use and operates uninterrupted for five hours on a single charge. The price of ‘Jeevan Lite’ is around Rs 4 lakh, while similar imported equipment costs around Rs 10 to 15 lakh per unit.

A three-member World Bank team has lauded the Jammu and Kashmir administration for making effective changes in the implementation of the Jhelum Tawi flood control project . A World Bank team led by Abhas Jha , Practice Manager, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management for the South-Asia Region, is on a two-day visit to the Union Territory. Reviewing the progress of the World Bank funded $250 million project in Srinagar, Shri Abhas Jha said that the J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency has done an excellent job in implementing the project, which will have a long-lasting positive impact.

5.Defense Ministry approves setting up of 21 new Sainik Schools across the country

The Defense Ministry has approved the formation of 21 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, private schools and state governments . These schools will be opened in the initial phase of the government’s plan to set up 100 new Sainik Schools across the country . The new schools will be different from the existing Sainik Schools. These Sainik Schools, apart from their respective Boards of Education, will function under the aegis of Sainik School Society and will follow the rules and regulations under the partnership mode prescribed by the Society.

6.Cabinet approves extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for another six months

The government has extended the period of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for another six months . Now till September this year , the beneficiaries will get assistance under this scheme. Announcing this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that more than 80 crore people of the country will continue to get the benefit of this scheme as before. This scheme will start in April 2020and is the largest food security program in the world. The fifth phase of the scheme was to end by the end of this month. The government has so far spent two hundred and 60 lakh crore rupees on this scheme and by September 2022, another 80 thousand crore rupees will be spent on it. Through this scheme, every beneficiary covered under the National Food Security Act is getting five kilograms of food grains free of cost every month.
