Despite hot and dry air, annual soil moisture levels increased by an average of 3.5% over 1998–2005 due to several potential factors such as the development of agricultural practices. But total terrestrial water storage, including snow and groundwater, still declined in January–September 2022 compared to the 2000s.
10 17 districts of Jharkhand affected by drought
