World Health Day  is celebrated every year   on  7 April . This day is celebrated as the anniversary of the establishment of the World Health Organization (WHO). The purpose of this day is to make people aware about the importance of health. This day is celebrated all over the world to make people aware of health. Every year a certain theme is declared to celebrate World Health Day. The theme of the year 2024 is ‘ My Health, My Rights ‘.

2 Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan to chair the first tri-service conference ‘Parivartan Chintan’ on jointness and integration

Parivartan Chintan , a  leading tri-services conference  aimed at generating new and innovative ideas, initiatives and reforms to further the efforts of connectivity and integration,   is being organized in New Delhi  on  08 April, 2024. . This one-day discussion will be chaired by Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan. The Indian Armed Forces have embarked on a major transformational change in their efforts to prepare for future wars. Initiatives are being taken to promote jointness and integration and structures are being modified to enable tri-service multi-domain operations.

3 Election Commission launches several campaigns on social media to increase participation of young and urban voters

The Election Commission   has launched several initiatives and campaigns on social media to increase participation of young and urban voters in the upcoming elections  . The Commission is using catchy themes, popular icons and GenZ content through ‘ Turning-18 ‘ and ‘ You’re the One ‘ campaigns to deliver its message to voters . The main objective of the Turning-18 campaign is to attract young voters in the upcoming elections. It also aims to address the issues of urban and youth voter apathy in the last elections. The ‘You Are The One’ campaign aims to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of various stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

4 Mexico ends all relations with Ecuador

Mexico has severed all relations with Ecuador  . This decision  comes after the arrest of  former Ecuadorian Vice President  Jorge Glass  at the Mexican Embassy . George Glass, a two-time corruption suspect, had been hiding in the Quito embassy since seeking political asylum in December. Mexican President  Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador  said in a social media post that Ecuadorian police forced their way into the Quito embassy before making the arrests. The Mexican President has called Glass’s detention an authoritarian act and a gross violation of international law and Mexico’s sovereignty. Mr Glass said he had instructed Mexico’s foreign minister to suspend diplomatic relations with Ecuador.

5 Coast Guard inaugurates aquatic center at Mandapam, Tamil Nadu

Indian Coast Guard  Director General  Rakesh Pal  inaugurated the Aquatic Center of the Indian Coast Guard  at  ICGS Mandapam  near  Rameshwaram ,  Tamil   Nadu  on 6 April 2024 . The Director General is on a 4-day visit to Indian Coast Guard bases in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. During his first visit to Chennai he reviewed the operational preparedness and development of corresponding infrastructure in the region. He also visited ICG station Krishnapatnam and had a first-hand review of the infrastructure projects. Director General Rakesh Pal also interacted with officers and men of the maritime force to share their vision towards the common goal of safe, secure and clean seas.

6 Anupama, Tharun win Kazakhstan International Badminton title

India’s talented young badminton players  Anupama Upadhyay  and  M.Tharun  won the   women’s and men’s singles titles respectively at the 2024 Kazakhstan International Challenge tournament  held in  Uralsk, Kazakhstan . The final of this tournament was played on 6 April 2024. The Kazakhstan International Challenge tournament was organized by the Kazakhstan National Badminton Federation from 2–6 April 2024 in Uralsk, Kazakhstan. Nineteen-year-old Anupama Upadhyay, born in Almora, Uttarakhand, defeated fellow Indian Ishrani Barua 21-15, 21-16 in the final. In the men’s singles final, 22-year-old M.Tharun of Telangana defeated Soon Ju Wen of Malaysia 21-10, 21-19 to win his first international title. BWF (Badminton World Federation), the world badminton governing body, has divided international badminton tournaments into three grades. The higher the grade of the tournament, the higher the prize money and ranking points.

7 Peter Pellegrini of the ruling Nationalist Party has won the presidential election in Slovakia.

Peter Pellegrini  of  the ruling Nationalist Party  has won the presidential election  in  Slovakia . He  defeated independent candidate  Ivan Korsok . So far 99.9 percent of the votes have been counted and Pellegrini has received 53 percent of the votes.

8 The 100th anniversary of the discovery of electroencephalogram (EEG) was celebrated.

The year 2024  will celebrate the centenary of the discovery of the electroencephalogram (EEG)  by   German psychiatrist Hans Berger . EEG, a medical test that measures the brain’s electrical activity, has become an important tool for understanding the brain and diagnosing neurological disorders. In 1924, working almost in solitude and very painstakingly, Hans Berger observed rhythmic electrical activity from the scalps of human subjects in Jena, Germany. Recognizing that this activity originated from within the brain, he coined the term “electroencephalogram.” It took another decade for the scientific community to accept Berger’s work, leading to the birth of the field of electroencephalography.
