1 World’s first ‘Black Tiger Safari’: Odisha

Odisha  Chief  Minister  Naveen Patnaik  has   unveiled plans to set up the world’s first ‘Black Tiger Safari’  near  Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR)  in  Mayurbhanj . This visionary project aims to provide tourists and visitors a rare glimpse of melanistic tigers, commonly known as black tigers, which have recently been spotted in Similipal National Park.

2 Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated HPCL’s biogas plant

Union Oil and Natural Gas Minister  Hardeep Singh Puri  and  Uttar Pradesh  Chief Minister  Yogi Adityanath  inaugurated   HPCL ‘s  biogas  plant  at  Saijani village  in  Badaun district . Apart from this, foundation stones of biogas plants were laid in Sitapur, Jaunpur, Bareilly, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Amethi, Bahraich and Fatehpur districts. 44 projects worth Rs 424 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid at various places in the state.

3 Punjab Government formed ‘Road Safety Force’ for accident victims to reduce road accidents.

 To reduce road accidents, Punjab  Government has created  ‘ Road Safety Force- SSF’ for the first time in the country.  Has been established. Chief Minister  Bhagwant Mann  flagged   off 144 high-technology vehicles  carrying  more than 1200 police personnel  from  Jalandhar . The crew of this force also includes 90 women. These vehicles will cover a distance of 5,500 kilometers on state and national highways and each vehicle will cover a distance of about 30 kilometers. Special equipment has been installed in these vehicles to prevent drunk driving and speeding. However, SSF Now anyone in the state   can seek help by dialing number 112 . SSF The vehicle will reach the concerned spot within 10 minutes of receiving any call.

4 Joint military exercise between the armies of India and Saudi Arabia will start in Rajasthan from Monday.

 The joint military exercise between the armies of India and Saudi Arabia –  Sada Tansiq  will begin in Rajasthan  from Monday  . The objective of this exercise is to share best military activities and experiences between the armies of both the countries. This exercise will promote military cooperation and interoperability between India and Saudi Arabia. This joint military exercise will continue till 10 February.

5 Indian Navy to set up second VLF communication station in Telangana

The Indian Navy  has strategically  chosen Telangana  as the location  for  its second Very Low Frequency (VLF)  communication transmission station in the country. This significant development  is scheduled to take place in Vikarabad  district, with the new VLF center scheduled to be completed by 2027. It is important for naval communications with ships and submarines. The site selected for the VLF center is Damgudem forest area near Puduru in Vikarabad mandal. This location was chosen after the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam identified Telangana as a suitable area for setting up the second radar station.

6 Petroleum Ministry approves ONGC’s green energy unit

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas  has approved the formation of a subsidiary by  Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC)  dedicated to the green energy and gas sector . This important step was announced  during ONGC ‘s board meeting  on  January 23, 2024  , reflecting the company’s commitment to diversify its portfolio and contribute to sustainable energy solutions. The newly approved subsidiary, provisionally named “ ONGC Green Limited ”, will be a wholly owned entity of ONGC. However, the proposed name is subject to the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

7 First alcohol store to open in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia   is preparing to open its first alcohol store  in  the capital  Riyadh . This store will be especially  for non-Muslim diplomats  . In such a situation, common people will not be able to purchase liquor from this store. A document states that before making purchases from this alcohol store, customers will have to register through a mobile app. Apart from this, they will also have to obtain a clearance code from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.  Diplomats will also be set a monthly quota for purchasing liquor  . More than that cannot be purchased.

8 Crutrim becomes India’s first AI company to become a unicorn

Ola Group  ‘s  AI firm  Crutrim   has raised $50 million at a valuation of $1 billion   in a funding round led by  Matrix Partners . This makes Crutrim  India’s first artificial intelligence unicorn  . A startup company with a valuation of more than one billion dollars is called a unicorn. Crutrim unveiled its base Large Language Model (LLM) last month. With the largest representation of Indian data used for its training, Crutrim claims to power generative AI applications for all Indian languages.

9. A comprehensive caste census will be conducted in Andhra Pradesh

The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy  government   in  Andhra Pradesh has launched a comprehensive caste census  , marking the state’s commitment to understanding and addressing the complex caste dynamics within its population.  The ambitious census, launched with the help of a  specially designed  phone app, aims to enumerate all castes in the state and is expected to be completed within the next 20 days to a month. Andhra Pradesh has  now   become the second state in the country  after  Bihar to conduct such a comprehensive caste census.

10 LIC will buy 9.99% stake in HDFC, RBI approval

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC)   to acquire total stake  up to 9.99%  in   the country’s largest private sector bank,  HDFC Bank . Approval is based on LIC’s application to the RBI, subject to various conditions.

11 Pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden won the men’s doubles title of Australian Open tennis tournament.

India’s  Rohan Bopanna  and  Australia  ‘s  Matthew Ebden  have   won the men’s doubles title  of  the Australian Open tennis tournament .  In the final, the pair of  Bopanna and Ebden   defeated the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli  and  Andrea Vavasori 7-6, 7-5 in close sets. Rohan Bopanna,   at  the age of 43 , has become  the oldest player  to win a Grand Slam . Whereas Belarus’s Aryna Sabalenka has won the Australian Open women’s singles title. Reigning champion Sabalenka defeated world number two Zheng Qianwen of China in the final.

12 Delhi Sports for All- First edition of SFA Championship to be organized from 28 January

The first edition  of  Delhi Sports for All- SFA Championship  will be  organized  from 28 January to 3 February .  More than six thousand two hundred players from more than 540 schools  will participate  in this  multi-sports school tournament . In this tournament,  competitions of sports like athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, racket game, karate, swimming, shooting, yoga will be  organized. All these competitions   will be organized in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium ,  Indira Gandhi Sports ComplexDr. Karni Singh Shooting Range- KSSRDDA Squash and Badminton Stadium, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex, GR  International School  and  Noida Educational Academy . Sports for All Championship aims to host 150 championships across 50 cities in the next 5 years. The event will include comprehensive medical facilities, on-site physiotherapy services, clinics and workshops for the participants.

14 International Customs Day 2024: 26 January

International Customs Day  (ICD)   is celebrated every year on 26 January . The day is celebrated to recognize the role of customs officials and agencies and to focus on the working conditions and challenges that customs officials face in their jobs. 15 International Day of Remembrance in Memory of the Victims of Genocide 2024

The United Nations General Assembly  ,  with  resolution 60/7  ,  designated 27 January  as  the International Day of Remembrance in memory of the victims of the genocide  in  November 2005 . This date   was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, in 1945 . The resolution not only remembers the victims but also reaffirms the commitment to combat anti-Semitism, racism and other forms of intolerance that can lead to group-targeted violence.
