2.Australia takes 2-0 lead against USA :-

Nick Kyrgios and Jordan Thompson gave Australia an unexpected 2-0 lead after the first day of their Davis Cup quarterfinal against the United States in Brisbane on Friday.

The unheralded Thompson stunned World No. 15 Jack Sock in four sets in the opening rubber before Kyrgios saw off the big-serving John Isner 7-5, 7-6(5), 7-6(5).

3.Ramkumar wins a scrappy opening rubber :-

Ramkumar Ramanathan gave India a flying start, defeating Temur Ismailov 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 in the opening rubber of the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-I match against Uzbekistan at the KSLTA Stadium here on Friday.

4.Russia, Iran condemn U.S. air strike in Syria as Britain, Turkey give support :-

Russia and Iran condemned a U.S. strike on a Syrian airbase on Friday as Australia, Britain and Turkey gave their support, with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull calling it a “proportionate” response to the use of chemical weapons.

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered missile strikes against a Syrian airfield from which a deadly chemical weapons attack was launched, declaring he acted in America’s “vital national security interest”.

5.Pakistan a beautiful place, not the centre of global terrorism: NSA :-

National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua dismissed on Friday the perception that Pakistan was a dangerous country at the “centre of global terrorism”, saying it was instead a beautiful nation “with countless honeymoon resorts”.

Mr. Janjua said the perception being created was far from the reality and Pakistan’s true picture was not being presented adequately before the world.

 

6.Indian firms in U.K. employ more than 110,000 people :-

Mr. Garnier spoke that 57 Commonwealth nations are our friends, and India is an incredibly important part. In any case, India is a dear friend. The U.K. is the largest G20 investor in India and India is the second biggest foreign investor in the U.K. Indian firms in the U.K. employ more than 110,000 people; a third of whom are in the automotive sector. We would like to better that relationship.

 

7.Uber is carpet bombing us, says Ola’s Aggarwal :-

Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder of cab aggregator Ola, on Friday described the competition with Uber as a “guerrilla war” situation, with the U.S. company “carpet bombing” the local firm as it tried to defend its turf.

“This is corporate war and the competition between us and Uber is very intense,” Mr. Aggarwal said. “The analogy that I give India is that this is like Vietnam war. We are the local guerrillas. We have the Americans carpet bombing us.”

8.Samsung tips best quarterly profit in over 3 yrs as chips soar :-

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd forecast on Friday its best quarterly profit in more than three years in the January-March period, beating expectations and putting it on track for record annual earnings on the back of a memory chip super-cycle.

9.1.37 lakh crore of tax evasion detected over last 3 years :-

Law enforcement agencies have detected ₹1.37 lakh crore worth of tax evasion, began criminal prosecution in 2814 cases, and have arrested 3,893 people in the last three years, according to a statement by the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

10.ABVP walks into J-K games, makes it about J vs K and the anthem :-

Alleging that students from Kashmir had shown disrespect to the national anthem, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists from Jammu University on Friday disrupted the first inter-university sports championship being held here between students from the Valley and Jammu region.

Jammu University officials as well as students from the Valley denied the ABVP’s allegation.
