Arjun Munda launches two Centers of Excellence for tribal welfare

1.Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to launch ‘Green Delhi App’ on October 29:- Air quality (AQI) in Delhi is slowly deteriorating. Therefore, with the aim of keeping Delhi pollution free, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will launch the ‘Green Delhi App’ on 29 October 2020. The Chief Minister will launch this Green Delhi App on 29 October at 12 noon. Nodal officers of the departments of Environment Department, Revenue Department, MCD, NDMC, DDA, PWD, Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service, NHAI etc. participated in the review meeting held about the grievance redressal process related to Green Delhi App, so that this app Can be used effectively.

2.Indian organization wins award from United Nations for efforts to tackle climate change:- The Indian organization has won the prestigious United Nations Award for combating climate change even in the midst of the Kovid-19 pandemic that uses tourism and technology to provide solar energy to remote communities. The Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) is among the winners of the 2020 UN Global Climate Action Award. GHE is the first organization in the world to use tourism and technology to bring solar energy to remote communities. This year’s United Nation Global Climate Action Award was announced on 27 October 2020, which drew attention to the best work being done to stop climate change in the world.

3.Arjun Munda launches two Centers of Excellence for tribal welfare:- The Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda has launched two Centers of Excellence (CoE) for Tribal Welfare in a collaboration between Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) and Art of Living (AoL) through video conference.

The first Centers of Excellence:

*The first CoE has been launched in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra for training about 10000 tribal farmers in the field of sustainable natural farming based on Go-Adharith farming techniques.

*Farmers will be helped in getting the Organic certification and marketing opportunities to make each of them Atmanirbhar Tribal Farmers.

The second Centers of Excellence:

*The second CoE has been launched in Jharkhand in the field of ‘Strengthening PRIs’ in 5 districts of the state covering 30 Gram Panchayats and 150 villages.

*This initiative aims to create the youth volunteers among the tribal youths by giving them personality development training, instilling the sense of social responsibility among them and thereby creating the tribal leaders who will work for their community in spreading this awareness.

4.A high resolution image will be available of all this, this will be the US-India ‘Nisar’ satellite:- The synthetic aperture radar (Nisar) satellite being developed by US Space Agency NASA and Indian Space Agency ISRO is expected to be launched in 2022. The agreement was signed between the countries in 2014 for this joint mission. This will be the first such radar imaging satellite in the world to use two frequencies simultaneously. Not only this, it will also be the world’s most expensive Earth imaging satellite. In this sense it will also be very special in many ways.

5.RBI bars payment system operators from launching any new QR codes:- The Reserve Bank of India has barred Payment System Operators (PSOs) from launching any new proprietary QR code for payment transactions. Currently, there are two interoperable QR codes — UPI QR and Bharat QR.The decision to continue with the two existing Quick Response (QR) codes was based on the recommendations of the committee which was set up by the Reserve Bank under the chairmanship of Deepak Phatak to review the current system of such codes in India and suggest measures for moving towards interoperable QR codes. QR codes are two-dimensional machine-readable barcodes, which are increasingly used to facilitate mobile payments at the point-of-sale. QR codes can store a large amount of information. PSOs that use proprietary QR codes shall shift to one or more interoperable QR codes; the process of migration shall be completed by March 31, 2022.

6.Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates ‘Direct Port Entry Facility’:- The Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C), Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the ‘Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility’ of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust in Tamil Nadu. This will help in increasing Ease of Doing Business for the exporters, as the facility will bring efficiency and reduce dwell time, lower tariff cost and improve the competitiveness of shipper in the international trade.

About ‘Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility’:

*The state-of-the-art Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility would enable direct movement of containers from factories, without intermediate handling at any Container Freight Station (CFS), thus facilitating the shippers to Gate-In their factory stuffed exports directly to the Container Terminal on 24×7 basis.

*The facility is created in an area of 18,357 sqm inside the Truck Parking Terminal which was developed under the ‘Sagarmala’ for issuing customs clearance of export cargo i.e. Factory stuffed/re-sealed containers.
