1.Ghana, Kenya and Malawi to pilot GSK malaria vaccine from 2018 :-

Ghana, Kenya and Malawi will pilot the world’s first malaria vaccine from 2018, offering it for babies and children in high-risk areas as part of real-life trials, the World Health Organization said on Monday.

2.Jaish-e-Muhammad launches jihad fundraising drive in Pakistan :-

Top jihad commander Maulana Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Muhammad has begun a new drive calling on landowners to gift their ushr, a religious tithe levied on the harvest, to help “martyrs, prisoners detained for Islam, the families of religious warriors, seminaries, offices and needy individuals”, an advertisement issued in Jaish’s latest house-magazine, al-Qalam, has announced.

3.Sensex climbs 168 points on RIL earnings; positive global cues :-

 

The benchmark BSE Sensex climbed almost 168 points in early session on Tuesday as sentiments rose with Reliance Industries’ better-than-expected fourth quarter earnings numbers that were announced on Monday.

This apart, a firming trend in other Asian markets, taking strong cues from the U.S. and European markets following Emmanuel Macron’s first round presidential election win in France, boosted trading sentiments here.

4.Centre wants UID for all cows with details of horn, tail, breed, age :-

The central government told the Supreme Court on Monday that it wants an Aadhaar-like unique identification system for cows to track their movement and prevent inter-state and inter-country smuggling. Adducing a report by a committee appointed by the Union Home Ministry, Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar told a bench led by Chief Justice of India J S Khehar that the Centre has approved the recommendations in principle. The bench posted the matter for detailed hearing on Tuesday.

5.RIL posts 12.3% jump in net profits :-

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries (RIL) reported better than expected 12.3% increase in its fourth quarter net profits to Rs 8046 crore (including exceptional items) led by better refinery margins.

The profits were reported on 45.2% jump in revenues to Rs 92,889 crores due to better realisations in refining and petrochemicals and robust growth in retail business.

6.Bhuvneshwar is the best bowler in IPL history, says Murali :-

The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan has hailed Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the best bowler in the history of the IPL.

“He bowls two overs in the PowerPlay and two at the death and his economy rate is so low,” Muralitharan told the media here on Monday

7.German chancellor Angela Merkel honored by US Holocaust Memorial Museum :-

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has received the 2017 Elie Wiesel Award, the highest honor from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Merkel was presented with the award Monday, which is Holocaust Remembrance Day. She accepted it in a video message. She was selected for her contributions to Holocaust memory and education.

8.Where would Apple, IBM be if not for talent from across globe: RBI Governor :-

Cautioning against protectionism, RBI Governor Urjit Patel asked where giant American corporations like Apple, Cisco and IBM would be if they had not sourced the best products and talent from across the world.

“I don’t think that we have heard the last word on U.S. policy talk about this because there is a push back internationally that the world has benefited from an open trading system,” the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor said after delivering a lecture here.

9.Japan begins construction for new US base amid protests :-

The Japanese Defence Ministry on Tuesday started construction of seawalls for a new US base in Okinawa amid local uproar, a media report said. The Okinawan chapter of Japan’s Defence Ministry began the construction to surround an area in a coastal region on the island for the controversial relocation of a US military base, Xinhua news agency reported.
