1.Chandrayaan-2 launch called off due to technical snag: ISRO:-

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has called off for today the launch of India’s second mission to Moon – Chandrayaan-2 onboard GSLV MkIII-M1 due to a technical snag.The countdown for the launch scheduled for 2.51 AM was stopped 56 minutes and 24 seconds before lift-off following the announcement from the Mission Control Centre. ISRO Associate Director (Public Relations), BR Guruprasad said, a technical snag was observed in the launch vehicle system. He said, revised launch date will be announced later.The lift-off of the three-component spacecraft comprising an orbiter, the lander and the rover was scheduled from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. President Ram Nath Kovind was in Sriharikota to witness the launch.The Chandrayaan-2 was supposed to explore the uncharted lunar south pole, 11 years after ISRO’s successful first lunar mission – Chandrayaan-1. Chandrayaan-2 onboard the heavy-lift rocket Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle GSLV-MkIII-M1, nicknamed Baahubali, would have taken 54 days to accomplish the task of landing on the Moon.
Billed as the most complex and prestigious mission ever undertaken by the ISRO since its inception, Chandrayaan-2 would make India the fourth country to soft-land a rover on the lunar surface after Russia, the US and China.

2.Fourth anniversary of Skill India Mission being observed today:-

The fourth anniversary of the Skill India Mission is being observed today. Several functions are being organised across the country to mark the occasion.The main function will be held in New Delhi where Home Minister Amit Shah will deliver the keynote address. Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Mahendra Nath Pandey and RK Singh will also be present on the occasion.National Skill Development Mission also known as Skill India Mission was launched on this day in 2015. Nearly One Crore youth are being presently imparted skills training annually under the mission.The mission also envisages convergence, coordination and harmonization of the fragmented skilling efforts of various Ministries in Government of India and other key stakeholders through the instruments of Common norms, implementation of National Skills Qualification Framework and data integrations through the Skill India Portal.

3.Three bills scheduled to be introduced in Lok Sabha today:-

Three bills are scheduled to be introduced in Lok Sabha today. These are Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, and the National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill.In Rajya Sabha, the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, to further amend the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 is scheduled to be introduced.

4.Centre putting all efforts to double farmers’ income: Giriraj Sing:-

Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Giriraj Singh said that Narendra Modi government is putting all its efforts to double the farmers’ income.Addressing the Press Conference at Ahmedabad yesterday, he said that agriculture with animal husbandry is the key to doubling the farmers’ income.Mr. Singh said that for the first-time Animal Husbandry, fisheries and dairying are separated from the agriculture department.He said that his ministry is taking all necessary steps to help the farmers to adopt livestock farming along with traditional agriculture.

5.Over 5 billion dollar penalty imposed on Pakistan in Reko Diq case:-

An international arbitration court has imposed a penalty of over five billion dollars on Pakistan for unlawful denial of a mining lease to a company for the Reko Diq project in 2011.The Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) had filed claims for international arbitration before the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in 2012 after the Balochistan government rejected a leasing request from the company.The company had claimed 11.43 billion dollars in damages. The case between the Pakistan government and the company continued for seven years.The TCC completed an extensive and detailed bankable feasibility study establishing the basis for mine development at Reko Diq during August 2010 and submitted a mining lease application in February 2011, along with an environmental and social impact assessment report, the paper said.The Reko Diq mine is famous for its vast gold and copper reserves.The project stopped in November 2011, when the Balochistan government summarily rejected the application by the TCC’s local operating subsidiary for a mining lease in respect of Reko Diq.A statement issued by the Pakistan Attorney General’s office today said Prime Minister Imran Khan issued orders for the formation of a commission to investigate and fix responsibility for the massive loss borne by the country in the Reko Diq case.

6.Congo confirms 1st Ebola case in city of Goma:-

The Health Ministry Congo has confirmed the country’s first Ebola case in the city of Goma, home to more than 2 million people.The regional capital in eastern Congo borders neighbouring Rwanda, which has been preparing for possible cases since an outbreak began nearly a year ago.The person with the confirmed case announced late Sunday is a pastor who had been in the town of Butembo.The announcement marks a serious escalation of Congo’s Ebola crisis.The outbreak that started last August already is the second deadliest in history. More than 1,600 people in eastern Congo have died as the virus has spread in areas too dangerous for health teams to access.There is an experimental vaccine, but it hasn’t been universally accepted by people in the region.

England lifted their maiden ICC World Cup cricket trophy beating New Zealand in a nerve-wracking final that was decided via a dramatic Super Over in London last night.Opting to bat, New Zealand put up a modest 241 for eight. In reply, England ended at the same score leading to the one-over eliminator at the Lord’s.In the Super Over, England batted first and the duo of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler made 15, and New Zealand also ended at the same score but for the loss of one wicket, paving the way for an English victory on boundary count.England’s Ben Stokes is named player of the match for a heroic knock of 84 not out off 92 balls, while New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson was adjudged player of the tournament for his excellent returns with the bat and inspiring leadership.

8.Djokovic beats Federer to win fifth Wimbledon title:-

In Tennis, Serbian Novak Djokovic won his fifth Wimbledon title after defeating Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer 7-6, 1-6, 7-6, 4-6, 13-12 in a match that lasted for more than four hours.The match had to be decided in the fifth set, as both Federer and Djokovic won two sets each in the longest ever final to be played so far.This is  Djokovic’s 16th Grand Slam and 5th Wimbledon title. He is now level with Bjorn Borg as a five-time Wimbledon winner.

9.Vinesh Phogat wins gold at Yasar Dogu International:-

India wrestler Vinesh Phogat has won gold in the 53kg category at Yasar Dogu International in Istanbul.  Phogat beat her Russian opponent Ekaterina Poleshchuk 9-5 in the final match to bag the gold medal. It was third gold in the women’s competition for India after Seema (50kg) and Manju (59kg) triumphed in their respective categories.
