 Indian Space  Research Organization – ISRO  ‘s ambitious mission,  Chandrayaan-3  is scheduled to land on the South Pole of the Moon on Wednesday at around 6.45 pm.  According to ISRO, this historic event will be broadcast live on its website, official YouTube channel and Facebook page and on DD National on August 23 at 5.27 pm. Earlier, ISRO informed that the lander module of Chandrayaan-3 consisting of lander ‘ Vikram ‘ and rover ‘ Pragyan ‘‘ includes, successfully modified the orbital path and with this now the maximum distance of this vehicle from the Moon is 134 km and the minimum distance is 25 km. If Chandrayaan successfully lands on the Moon’s surface on schedule, India will become the first country in the world to land a vehicle on the Moon’s South Pole and the fourth country to send a successful mission to the Moon.

Under this program, car manufacturers can voluntarily offer their cars tested in accordance with the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197. Based on the car’s performance in these tests, the car will be awarded star ratings for adult occupant and child occupant. Potential car customers can refer to these star ratings to compare the safety standards of different vehicles and make their buying decision accordingly.

3 Birsa Munda scheme to connect  tribal settlements with the main road

 The state cabinet has approved the implementation of  the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jod Raste Yojana to connect  all  the tribal settlements (Wadas and Pades)  in 17 districts  of  Maharashtra with the main road.  About 5 thousand crore rupees  will be spent on this project . 6838 km long roads from this   will be constructed. An independent committee of the Tribal Development Department will be formed for these routes. While the Public Works Department (PWD) will construct the roads.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has  launched UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information) on August 17, 2023,   to search for  unclaimed deposits.  a centralized web portal namedRBI has launched this platform to make it easier for consumers to search for unclaimed deposits across multiple banks at one place. According to the release issued by RBI, banks publish the list of unclaimed deposits on their websites. In order to improve and widen access to this data for depositors and beneficiaries, RBI has decided to create an online platform. It will enable the user to search for potential unclaimed deposits lying in various banks based on inputs.

5 Parminder Chopra appointed as the CMD of Power Finance Corporation (PFC)

Power Finance Corporation (PFC)  has   appointed Parminder Chopra as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD); She   became the first woman to head India’s largest NBFC . Chopra assumed the top position at the power sector lender with effect from August 14, 2023. She had earlier held additional charge as CMD with effect from June 1, and was Director (Finance) with effect from July 1, 2020.

6 Russian e-Visa facility for Indians

Russia  has launched an  e-visa facility  for Indians from August 1 , allowing travelers to the country to bypass the hassles of obtaining regular visas. The e-Visa facility is also available for travelers from 54 other countries and does not require travel to consulates or embassies. You can apply for an e-Visa online through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The application should be submitted at least 40 days in advance and at least 4 days before the planned date of travel. You will need to submit a digital photo and a scan of the information page of your passport. The e-Visa is valid for 60 days from the date of processing and allows you to stay in Russia for 16 days. The cost of e-Visa is US$ 35. You can extend the e-Visa for a maximum of 10 days by applying to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

8 Crisil projects 6% GDP growth for India in FY2024

Leading rating agency  CRISIL  estimates  India’s  gross domestic  product  (GDP) growth to  reach 6%  in fiscal year 2024 . This estimate is lower than the 7% projected by the National Statistical Organization (NSO) for fiscal year 2023. CRISIL projects an optimistic medium-term outlook for the Indian economy. The agency estimates that the economy will maintain an average growth rate of 6.8% over the next five fiscal years. This estimate is driven by factors such as increased capital investment and increased productivity.

9 Axis Bank partnered with RBI to launch Kisan Credit Card

Axis Bank,  one  of the largest private sector banks in India,   announced the launch of two lending products with the help of Public Tech Platform for Frictionless Credit (PTPFC)  introduced by  Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) . Innovation Hub is a wholly owned subsidiary of RBI. RBI had earlier in the week announced the launch of Public Tech Platform for Frictionless Credit.

Spain  beat  England 1-0 to  win the  FIFA Women’s Football World Cup title for the  first   time  . In the final in Sydney  , Spain captain  Olga Carmona  scored the only goal of the game in the 29th minute. Spain were earlier awarded a penalty immediately following a handball by midfielder Keira Walsh, but Jennifer Hermoso’s kick was saved by goalkeeper Mary Earps. England coach Sarina Wigman made several changes, including the inclusion of forward Lauren James, but could not find the equaliser.

11 India’s Anahat Singh won gold in the Asian Junior Squash Individual Championship in China

India’s  Anahat Singh  has   won the gold medal in   the girls’  under-17 category  at the Asian Junior Squash Championship . Anhat won the title by defeating Hong Kong’s Anna Kwang 3-1 in the final in Dalian, China. Earlier, Anahat had defeated Deuce Lee of Malaysia in the quarterfinals and Whitney Isabel Wilson of Malaysia in the semifinals. This is Anahat’s second gold and third medal so far. She won her first gold medal in the girls’ under-15 category at the Asian Junior Squash Championships in Thailand in 2022 and a bronze medal in the girls’ under-13 category at the Asian Junior Championships in Macau in 2019.

12 World Athletics Championships 2023

The World Athletics Championships 2023 are   being held in Budapest, Hungary from 19  to  27 August . This is the first time that Hungary has hosted the event, which is the most prestigious track and field competition in the world. The championships will be held at the National Athletics Centre, which is located on Margaret Island in the center of Budapest. 13 32nd Manipuri Language Day

 Various organizations   celebrated  the 32nd Manipuri Language Day  in  Manipur on 20 August . On August 20, 1992,  Manipuri language was included  in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. was included in The Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution deals with the languages ​​of India. 14 World Mosquito Day 2023

15 Eminent educationist and social worker Professor Deven Dutta passed away

Consumer rights activist  and   former Vice-Principal of  Cotton University Deven Dutta  passed away at the age of 81. Born on April 5, 1944 in Nazira, Sivasagar, Deven Dutta lived in Sundarpur area of ​​Guwahati. He completed his post graduation in English in the year 1965 and started his career as Professor of English at Cotton College. He was also a noted litterateur and columnist.
