Chandrayaan-3   has successfully entered the Moon’s orbit . Chandrayaan-3 has achieved an important milestone.  In a significant step to facilitate resolution of contractual disputes involving  the Government and its undertakings , the Finance Ministry  has launched the “ Vravad se Vishwas 2The plan is launched. The objective of this initiative is to streamline the process and promote ease of doing business while ensuring timely settlement. Vivad se Vishwas 2 scheme is a voluntary settlement system introduced to address contractual disputes between the Government of India and organizations working under its control. It aims to provide the much needed impetus to resolve disputes and promote a business-friendly environment. Disputes up to 30 September 2022 will be covered under this scheme, which will bring a large number of pending cases under its ambit. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of the scheme during the budget while emphasizing on the government’s commitment to promote fair and efficient dispute resolution.

5 Assam launches ‘Amrit Birch Andolan’ app

Assam  Chief  Minister  Himanta Biswa Sarma  recently   launched the Amrit Brikshya Andolan web portal and mobile application of  the Forest and Environment Department along with the  Wood Based Industries Registration web portal . The initiative aims to plant a total of 1 crore commercially viable saplings across the state.  To make a significant impact on the green economy of the state. The Amrit Tree Movement has set an ambitious target of planting 1 crore saplings by individuals from different walks of life on September 17, 2023. The initiative is in response to the large-scale destruction of forests around the world, which is one of the major factors contributing to global warming. To encourage participation, the government has introduced incentives for individuals to register and plant saplings. Those who register through the Amrit Briksha Andolan app or portal and upload geo-tagged photos of their saplings will receive ₹100 in their bank account. Moreover, if the saplings survive for three years, an additional ₹200 will be paid to the person concerned.

In its first test, the algorithm  successfully identified  a ” potentially hazardous asteroid ”  named 2022 SF289 . During the test phase in Hawaii  , the HelioLinc3D algorithm demonstrated its capabilities by spotting a “potentially hazardous” asteroid with an impressive length of 600 feet. Although the asteroid poses no immediate threat to Earth, its identification is important for understanding celestial activities and potential threats.

7 Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrested, disqualified from active politics for five years

The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad today sentenced him to  three years in jail and  fined him one lakh Pakistani rupees. If he fails to pay the fine, he will be kept in jail for six more months. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan is accused of making profit by selling expensive government gifts while in power. According to local media, after today’s decision, Imran Khan has also been disqualified from active politics for five years. Immediately after the verdict, the police arrested Imran Khan from his house in Lahore. He will be sent to Rawalpindi’s Central Jail Adayala.

12 Odisha expands the scope of social security scheme

Odisha  government  extends  coverage of  social security scheme to 50 more categories of unorganized workers Which includes delivery boys, sailors and photographers, the scheme aims to provide financial assistance in case of accidental or natural death. The Odisha government on August 2 expanded the social security scheme to include 50 more categories of workers under the purview of the Odisha Unorganized Workers’ Social Security Board (OUWSSB). Presently, only 10 categories of workers are covered under OUWSSB. In the first phase street vendors, petty traders, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, cobblers, agricultural workers, forest workers, newspaper hawkers and sanitation workers will be registered under the board, followed by tailors, salon workers, labourers, railway There will be potters. Restaurant workers, vegetable vendors, band-party members, plantation workers, photographers and videographers, helpers in grocery stores, delivery boys and girls, and meat vendors.

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR)  recently  conducted  a comprehensive analysis of the assets of legislators of various political parties in India. The report highlights the average assets of legislators, the percentage of billionaire legislators and representation of women in state legislatures. Karnataka  emerged as  the state with  the highest average wealth per MLA and  the highest number of billionaire legislators , while Uttar Pradesh lags behind in both categories. According to ADR report, the average assets of an MLA in India is Rs 13.63 crore. The figure represents the collective wealth of legislators across the country, indicating a significant financial position. Among the states analysed, Karnataka tops the list with 223 MLAs with an average asset of Rs 64.39 crore. This substantial average property price sets Karnataka apart from other states.

The Isle of Rum  has   been selected as the only  UK site  for rock sampling  , as part of a   joint  Mars sample return campaign by NASA  and  the European Space Agency (ESA). Bhutan , a small eastern Himalayan country, has   made a remarkable conservation success by increasing its tiger population by 27% since 2015. According to the most recent survey conducted in 2021 and 2022, there   are now an estimated 131 tigers within Bhutan’s borders. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the Government of Bhutan, local partners and non-governmental organizations such as WWF-Bhutan. To increase wild tiger populations, Bhutan implemented various strategies, including adopting global conservation tools to manage wild tiger sites and equipping rangers with better monitoring and reporting techniques to combat wildlife crime. Additionally,  the Transboundary Manas Conservation Area (TRAMCA) There has been a significant increase in tiger numbers on both sides of the political border since 2010 due to a successful cross-border tiger conservation program with India.

20 Jammu and Kashmir’s 4 communities to be given Scheduled Tribe status

The Bill provides for the inclusion of four communities in the ST list:  Gadda Brahmins, Kolis, Paddari tribes and Pahari ethnic groups . The proposed inclusion is a significant step towards recognizing the unique identity of these communities and providing them with unique benefits.
