1 Chandrayaan-3’s moon landing site will be named Shiv Shakti, August 23 declared as National Space Day

The Prime Minister announced that   August  23  would be celebrated as National Space Day . On this day  ISRO  ‘s  Chandrayaan mission  created  history by landing near the south pole of the Moon  . He   also announced a national quiz program on Chandrayaan-3  through  My-Gov portal . Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several big announcements while addressing ISRO scientists in Bengaluru. He said that the  place where Vikram Lander and Rover Pragyan landed on the Moon’s surface will be  named as ‘ Shiv Shakti ‘ Bindu. the place where  Chandrayaan-2’s lander  crashed  Tiranga Bindu .  Will be known by the name of He said that Shiva contains the resolution for the welfare of humanity and ‘Shakti’ gives us the ability to fulfill those resolutions. He said that the tricolor point would be a reminder that failure is not the end of anything but a lesson to work hard and succeed in the future.

2 Ministry of Jal Shakti released the sixth census report of minor irrigation schemes

 The Department of  Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry  of  Jal Shakti  released the Sixth Census Report on Minor Irrigation Schemes . According to this report, 23.14 million minor irrigation (MI) schemes are reported in the country, of which 21.93 million (94.8%) are ground water (GW) and 1.21 million (5.2%) surface water (SW) schemes. Uttar Pradesh has the largest number of minor irrigation schemes in the country, followed by Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The leading states in groundwater schemes are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand have the largest share of surface water schemes. Ground water schemes include dug wells, shallow tubewells, medium tubewells and deep tubewells. Surface water schemes include surface flow and surface lift schemes.

3 REC to provide loan to Damodar Valley Corporation to set up 1,320 MW thermal power project at Raghunathpur in West Bengal

REC Limited,  a   Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under  the Ministry of Power , has entered into an agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)  . Under this,  REC  will provide a loan of Rs 4,527.68 crore  to DVC for setting up a  1,320 MW  thermal  power project (2×660 MW)  at  Raghunathpur in West Bengal. The Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase II project, a collaborative effort between REC and DVC, will contribute significantly to the power generation capacity in West Bengal. With a combined capacity of 1,320 MW, the project is a significant milestone in the energy landscape of the region.

4 Swamitva scheme of Ministry of Panchayati Raj wins National Award for e-Governance 2023

The Swamitva (Survey of Village Population and Mapping of Village Areas with Improved Technology) scheme of the  Ministry   of  Panchayati Raj  won the e-Governance 2023 (Gold) National Award  for application of emerging technologies to provide  citizen centric services . This is recognition of the excellent and exemplary work done by the ownership team. Technology is developing very fast. The initiative to integrate technology with governance reforms has started yielding results and the use of technology under SVAMITVA program has helped a lot towards citizen-centric governance and comprehensive village planning to make rural India self-reliant.

5 National Judicial Data Grid

Recently,  the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG)  drew attention to its pivotal role in revolutionizing the way judicial proceedings are managed  in India  . NJDG is a database of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District and Subordinate Courts and High Courts which has been   set up as an online platform under the e-Courts project . The data is updated by the connected District and Taluka Courts on near real time basis. It provides data related to judicial proceedings/judgments of all computerized district and subordinate courts in the country. All High Courts have also joined NJDG through web services, thereby facilitating easy access to public defendants.

6 India handed over the presidency of B-20 i.e. Business 20 to Brazil to host G-20 in 2024

India  has handed over the chairmanship of B-20 i.e. Business 20  to   Brazil  to host the G-20 in 2024  . B-20 India President  N Chandrasekaran  has said that under India’s G-20 chairmanship  Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in its B-20 chairmanship The work was done according to the theme. He said that more than one thousand five hundred global business representatives and experts from 55 countries are participating in the B-20 meeting. Shri Chandrasekaran said that during this period nine important themes were worked out which include women and youth empowerment, transition to artificial intelligence, building global resilient supply chains and financing global economic reforms. He said that India’s B20 chairmanship has been recognized for its effective process, participation and consensus building in formulating 54 policy recommendations in the last nine months.

7 ISRO chairman S. Somnath said – Indian observatory Aditya L-1 is expected to be launched in the first week of September to study the Sun.

Indian Space Research Organization  chief  S Somnath  has said that  the Aditya L-1 satellite  is ready and   has reached Sriharikota . He said that it will be launched  in the first week of September. I hope to be The fixed date will be announced in two days. Addressing reporters in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, the ISRO chief said that Aditya L-1 is the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun. He said that India is capable of sending other missions to different planets and ISRO aims to ensure overall progress of the country by expanding the space sector. Shri Somnath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the country’s space sector is long term and the Indian Space Research Organization is all set to make it a reality.

8 Deendayal Port Authority signs concession agreement with DP World

Deendayal Port Authority  signed   the Concession Agreement with DP World  in the presence of   Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways  Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi .  Mega container terminal will be constructed near the existing Deendayal port at  Tuna  -Tekra  in  Gujarat under public-private partnership  at a cost of more than Rs 4,243 crore . The agreement is part of a target to explore investment potential of over Rs 10 lakh crore in the Indian maritime sector ahead of the Global Maritime Summit 2023.

9 The third high-level dialogue between India and the European Union was held in New Delhi

The third high-level dialogue  between  India and the European Union  was held  in  New Delhi . During the meeting, Commerce and Industry Minister  Piyush Goyal  and European Commission Vice President  Valdis Dombrovskis  reviewed the progress of three important ongoing agreements between India and the European Union. Among these agreements,  the India-European Union Free Trade AgreementInvestment Protection Agreement  and  Geographical Indication Agreement Are included. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the progress made on these agreements. Both sides discussed in detail the issues relating to market access under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council. Along with this, issues related to the 13th meeting of the World Trade Organization Group of Ministers were also discussed. This meeting will be held in Abu Dhabi in February next year.

11 G-20: Second meeting of Principal Scientific Advisors begins in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Under the chairmanship of India’s  G-20 , the second meeting of the principal scientific advisors   of the member countries   is starting in Gandhinagar  ,  Gujarat . Scientific advisors, scientists and researchers from G-20 and invited countries are participating in the meeting. India’s Principal Scientific Adviser Professor Ajay Kumar Sood will address the meeting tomorrow. Formal discussions in the meeting will also take place tomorrow. The meeting will have four sessions tomorrow on topics such as Opportunity in One Health, Global synergy to enhance access to scientific information, Diversity in Science and Technology, Equity and Access, Institutional Mechanisms for Global Science and Technology Policy.

12 Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan released books titled “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” based on PM Modi’s speeches in Bhopal

13 5th edition of OSINDEX-23 organized in Sydney

The 5th edition  of  the biennial Oceanindex maritime exercise  between  the Indian Navy  and  the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was  conducted   from 22-25 August 2023  at  Sydney , Australia . INS Sahyadri  and  INS Kolkata from RAN   participated in the exercise along with HMAS Chaules and HMAS Brisbane. Apart from the ships and their integral helicopters, the exercise also saw the participation of fighter aircraft and maritime patrol aircraft.

14 IAF commits to provide assistance to 765 TB patients under ‘Ni-Kshaya Mitra’

 As part of the Indian Air Force ‘s endeavor  to contribute to social causes that promote  nation building , the Air Force has committed its participation in the ” Ni-Kshaya Mitra ” scheme.  It is an initiative under the  Pradhan Mantri TB Free India Campaign (PMTBMBA)  implemented by  the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare . It aims to eliminate TB by the year 2025, five years ahead of the global target of 2030.  First time in  2018 In “Ni-Kshaya Mitra” is an initiative articulated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to provide additional clinical, nutritional and professional support to people undergoing treatment for TB by elected representatives, corporates, institutions, NGOs and individuals. This will help them on their journey towards success and recovery.

Mosquito-borne diseases  continue to be a major threat in various parts of the world,   exacerbated by the presence of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus  in  the United States . Recently   cases of illness caused by this rare virus have been observed in Alabama and New York , which has had a serious public health impact. Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the brain. It is spread to people and animals through the bite of an infected mosquito. EEE was first identified in horses in the year 1831 in Massachusetts, USA.

 Slums will be constructed  in  Navi Mumbai under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority scheme .  Maharashtra  Industries Minister  Uday Samant approved the implementation of the scheme in Navi Mumbai. Shri Samant announced this decision during a meeting at Mantralaya.

18 International Blind World Games 2023 Indian women’s cricket team won the gold medal by defeating Australia by nine wickets in the final

In the International Blind World 2023  Games,  the Indian women’s blind cricket team  has won the gold medal by defeating Australia  by nine wickets   in the final  . Australia had given a target of 115 runs to India while playing first. The match was interrupted due to rain and when the game started, a target of 42 runs was set for India, which the Indian team achieved by losing one wicket in three and a half overs.

19 Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team Silver Medal in  International Blind World Games

The Indian men’s blind cricket team  had   to settle for  a silver medal  in  the International World Games for the Blind . Pakistan  won the gold medal by defeating India by 8 wickets  in the final match at  Birmingham  ,  England . Batting first, India scored one hundred and 84 runs in three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan achieved the target of 1085 runs in the 15th over itself. Earlier yesterday, the Indian women’s blind cricket team won a historic gold medal by defeating Australia by 9 wickets in the final. Cricket was included for the first time in the IBSA World Games.

20 At the World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen, H.S. Prannoy won bronze medal

India  ‘s  H.S. Prannoy  has   won  a bronze medal  in  the BWF World Championships .  In the semi-finals in  Copenhagen , Denmark  yesterday, Prannoy   lost 21-18, 13-21, 14-21 to Thailand  ‘s  Kunlavut Witisaran . Earlier on Friday, Prannoy had already assured a medal for India by defeating Denmark’s Viktor Alexsen 21-13, 15-21, 16-21. With this, India’s total medal tally in the championship has gone up to 14. These include one gold, four silver and nine bronze medals.
