1.Apple acquires Israeli start-up RealFace :-

In a bid to boost its prospects in the world of artificial intelligence (AI), Apple has acquired Israel-based start-up RealFace that develops deep learning-based face authentication technology.

 

 

2.Amnesty faults sedition law :-

Amnesty International’s State of the World’s Human Rights Report 2016-17 has expressed concern over a range of human rights violations in India.

The report, being released worldwide on Wednesday, slammed the use of legislation such as the Foreign Currency (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and the sedition law to silence government critics and crack down on civil society organisations.

 

 

3.Ranganathan, Mehta appointed Non-Official Director in IOB, PNB  :-

T C A Ranganathan and Sunil Mehta were appointed as Non-Official Directors in Indian Overseas Bank and Punjab National Bank by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet. Both appointed for a period of three years.

4.Indian doctor from A.P. freed in Libya :-

India has secured the release of a national who was kidnapped in Libya, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj announced on Tuesday evening.

 

 

5.U.K. mulls easing entry norms for Commonwealth citizens :-

British Members of Parliament are set to debate on Tuesday proposals to make it easier for Commonwealth citizens to arrive at the U.K border.

 

 

6.India to Host Next Davis Cup tie in Bangalore in April, 2017 :-

Bangalore has been chosen to host the next Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone group-1 tie against Uzbekistan from April 7 to 9, 2017.

7.NIA puts off Nepal visit for ‘sabotage’ probe :-

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has decided to put on hold its visit to Nepal to investigate the role of Shamsul Hoda, a businessman, in allegedly mobilising people in India and Nepal to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) on a railway track at Ghorasahan in Bihar earlier this year.

 

 

8.U.P. campaign hits high note :-

Campaigning for the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls ended on Tuesday with top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress holding roadshows.

 

 

9.Fabindia removes ‘Khadi’ brand name from its products :-

Fabindia has started removing the brand name ‘Khadi’ it uses to promote its cotton products after a legal notice by Khadi India that the use of the word amounted to unfair trade practice and misusing its trade name.
10.Gujarat Assembly passes Aadhaar Bill, 2017 :-

The Gujarat Assembly has passed Gujarat Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Bill, 2017.
