The rupee depreciated 7 paise to 66.97 against the US dollar in early trade today on fresh demand for the American currency from importers and banks.

Dealers attributed the rupee’s fall to fresh demand for the US currency from importers, but a higher opening in the domestic equity markets and dollar’s weakness against some currencies overseas capped the losses.

Altogether 215 candidates have filed their nomination papers from 38 constituencies which go to the polls in the first phase of the Assembly elections in Manipur on March 4.

10.Union Cabinet approves merger of SBI, 5 associate banks :-

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the merger of State Bank of India (SBI) with five of its associate/subsidiary banks. These five subsidiary banks are State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved introduction of Bill in Parliament to extend the jurisdiction of the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008 to Jammu & Kashmir.

 

12.Government launches TAMRA Portal and Mobile App :-

The Ministry of Mines has launched Transparency, Auction Monitoring and Resource Augmentation (TAMRA) Portal and Mobile Application to ensure transparent award of statutory Clearances for mining operations.

 

13.CCEA approves contract awards for 44 small oil and gas fields :-

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved to award contract in 31 contract areas of small oil and gas fields belonging to ONGC and Oil India Limited (OIL)
