1.Author accuses Chetan Bhagat of plagiarism :-

Writer Chetan Bhagat now finds himself caught in a “plagiarism” row. A civil court in Bengaluru passed a temporary injunction order on April 19 until further hearing, restraining the sale of his 2016 novel One Indian Girl after city-based author Anvita Bajpai filed a suit claiming that Mr. Bhagat’s book had “intelligently copied the story and characters” of the first short story Drawing Parallels from her book Life, Odds & Ends.

The next hearing has been set for June 1. Mr. Bhagat termed the charges “strange” and “baseless.”

2.EDMC election results 2017: BJP leading in 40 wards out of 63, moves towards an easy victory :-

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to register a comfortable victory in East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) as the party maintains a lead in over 40 wards out of the total 63 as per early trends. The party is also leading in majority wards in both North Delhi Municipal Corpo and SDMC and is expected to cross the halfway mark required to win MCD elections.

This will be a comeback for BJP in Delhi and a huge setback for AAP which had won 67 Assembly seats in the last state elections. The BJP only managed to win on 3 seats.

4.North Delhi Municipal Corporation election results 2017: BJP set to register a big win :-

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)is leading in more than 70 wards out of the total 103 in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) as per the latest updates. Congress is trailing far behind the saffron party with a lead in only 25 wards followed by AAP.

Apart from NDMC, BJP is also leading in the other two corporations and is expected to win a majority in the MCD elections 2017. The party has been in power in MCD since last 10 years.

5.Delhi University, AMU, IIT-Delhi and IIT-BHU websites hacked :-

The official websites of over 10 educational institutes, including University of Delhi, IIT- Delhi, IIT-BHU, University of Kerala and Aligarh Muslim University, were defaced on Tuesday by a group of hackers claiming to be from Pakistan.

The group, which calls itself ‘PHC Pakistani 133t w4s h3r3’, defaced the website by claiming that the “hack is in response to Code-Man’s hack of railways.gov.pk and in solidarity with innocent Kashmiri people being killed by Indian Army”.

6.In the Cabinet : 15 holidays cut, anti-land mafia task force to be set up :-

The UP government on Tuesday cancelled 15 public holidays that marked the birth and death anniversaries of personalities.

The decision, taken during a Cabinet meeting, comes 10 days after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had declared his intention to do so. A majority if these now-cancelled holidays were announced by the previous Samajwadi Party regine.

Government spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said the government noticed that there was a shortfall in working days.

The CM had earlier mentioned how schools now worked for only 120 days a year.

7.China bans Muslim names for babies in Xinjiang :-

China has banned Islamic names for babies in Muslim-majority Xinjiang region, home to the Muslim Uighur ethnic minority, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Tuesday.

8.Yasir puts Pakistan in control :-

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq became the first Pakistan batsman to be left stranded on an unbeaten 99 in a Test on Monday but the visitors still seized control of the first match against West Indies in Jamaica.

9.Kabul for talks with India, U.S. :-

Pushing for greater collaborative efforts to defeat terrorism in the region, Shaida Abdali, Afghanistan Ambassador in India, called for a trilateral strategic dialogue between India, Afghanistan and the U.S.

He said that the idea of trilateral strategic dialogue was long discussed but was never operationalised.

10.JLL sells residential brokerage arm to ex-chairman Anuj Puri :-

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) India has announced the sale of its India residential brokerage arm to its former India head Anuj Puri for an unspecified amount.

Mr. Puri, who left JLL India as chairman on February 28 has acquired has worked closely with the JLL India and Asia-Pacific leadership teams to complete the acquisition of Jones Lang LaSalle Residential Private Ltd. (JLLR) and will lead a team of 200 residential brokers across eight Indian cities.
