1.India’s Dalveer Bhandari in the race to be elected again in the International Court of Justice :-
In the race to be elected again in the International Court of Justice, India’s Dalveer Bhandari and Christopher Greenwood of Britain are in the race against the thorns. 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly and 15 members of the Security Council will choose one of these two in the meeting to be held on Monday.
On Thursday, Bhandari got the support of 115 members of the General Assembly, while in favor of Greenwood 76 members gave opinion. But the results of the Security Council remained in favor of Greenwood. That is why voting has to be done once again.
2.Member of the Executive Board of the UNESCO :-
India has been elected a member of the Executive Board of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Election held in UNESCO’s general meeting in Paris on Thursday night. This board is UNESCO’s decision-making body.
This includes representatives from member countries of the organization. Each country has the right to a vote. The organization’s policies and actions are outlined in the general meeting.
3.The full meeting of the GST Council, chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, has been held in Guwahati :-
The full meeting of the object and service council started in Guwahati on Friday. Earlier, Assam’s Finance Minister Hemanta Biswasarama said that this meeting is very important as it will review the progress of the new tax system after three months of implementation.
There is a possibility of discounting small traders in the meeting and the issue of benami properties, including the impact of GST on small industries.
The GST Council meeting in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is reviewing the impact of the new tax system in the first quarter of the commodity and service tax. The GST Council is likely to cut tax on products used every day. Apart from this, issues related to MRP are also expected to discuss other issues, including the impact of GST on small industries.
4.The Supreme Court refused to hear the petition challenging linking bank accounts with Aadhaar card :-
The Supreme Court has refused to hear the plea of Trinamool Congress MLA challenging linking bank accounts with Aadhaar card. The Supreme Court has said that thousands of petitions related to this issue are already pending.
The bench allowed the Trinamool Congress legislator Mahua Maitra to file a petition in the case. These cases will come for hearing before the Constitution Bench in the last week of this month.
5.Supreme Court rejects plea of lawyer Rohit Tandon :-
The Supreme Court dismissed the bail plea of lawyer Rohit Tandon, arrested on charges of blacking white after the ban on Friday.
Rohit Tandon is accused of turning the old currency of Rs 60 crore illegally into a new one. Enforcement Directorate arrested him after seizing 13 million, 60 lakh rupees in his raids on the law firm.
6.Reviewing the implementation of the even-odd system doing NGT :-
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is reviewing the decision of the Delhi government to implement uniform system for five days from Monday. The bench, chaired by Justice Chavan, chairperson of the Tribunal, has asked the government to give details of the reduction in air pollution during the asymmetrical scheme implemented before the Delhi government.
The government of Aam Aadmi Party had announced on Thursday that in order to tackle the dangerous situation of pollution in the national capital, a uniform system would be implemented under a phased plan.
7.Construction of more than three thousand jobs from Ramagundam fertilizer plant – Ananth Kumar :-
Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar said that the Ramagundam fertilizer plant in Telangana will be operational in 2019. The government is investing around Rs 5,500 crore on this plant and it will create more than 3,000 jobs.
He said that the construction of the Ramagundam fertilizer plant was going on in a time bound manner. I will visit the plant in the next one month. Last month I sent my secretary and officials team to visit the plant.
The work of laying gas pipelines and plant construction is going on fast. In 2019, it will start working at any time.
It is worth mentioning that the Ramagundam fertilizer plant is 240 km away from Hyderabad. This is part of the revival plan of the Central Government’s Indian Fertilizer Corporation Limited (FCIL).
8.Reserve Bank will soon launch awareness campaign to give information through SMS for banking rules and facilities :-
The Reserve Bank of India will soon launch an awareness campaign to give information about banking rules and facilities to people through SMS. In a government release, the Reserve Bank has said that people will be sent a warning message that they will not be fooled by unexpected and fake proposals received through e-mail, SMS and phone calls. These messages will be sent by RBSIS (RBISAY) ID.
9.Government doubled import duty on wheat to 20 percent :-
The government has stopped the import of wheat in the current Rabi season and giving the signals of positive value to the farmers, doubling the import duty on wheat to 20 percent.
The government has imposed import duty on peas at 50 percent to encourage local prices and to prevent cheap imports from countries like Canada and accelerate domestic prices.
10.MC Mary Kom won gold medal in Asian women’s boxing :-
Five-time world champion Mary Kom won the gold medal in the 48 kg category of Asian Women’s Boxing.
In Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city, Mary Com defeated Kim Hyang Mi of North Korea. The five referees decided in their favor. After the 2014 Asian Games, Mary Kom won gold medal for the first time in international competition.
