1 G7 Health Ministerial Meeting

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya , Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare  addressed  the G7 Ministerial Meeting on Health Innovations  in  Nagasaki  ,  Japan  . The meeting was organized to discuss the priorities, implementation and use of innovation such as digital health towards ensuring universal health coverage. The meeting was attended by health ministers from G7 member states and invited “Outreach 4” nations—India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

2 Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit takes charge as Vice Chief of the Air Staff

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit  has   taken over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff . An alumnus of the National Defense Academy, he was commissioned into the Fighter Stream on 06 December 1986. He is a graduate of Staff Course, Bangladesh and National Defense College, New Delhi. The Air Marshal is a Qualified Flying Instructor as well as an Experimental Test Pilot, with over 3300 hours of flying experience on Fighter, Trainer and Transport aircraft. He participated in Operation Safed Sagar and Rakshak.

3 India-EU need regular, comprehensive and frank dialogue on Indo-Pacific: Foreign Minister

External Affairs Minister  Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar  has said that  there is a need for regular, comprehensive and frank dialogue between India and the European Union,  especially on the Indo-Pacific.  Addressing the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Dialogue  in  Stockholm, Sweden, Dr. Jaishankar said that the dialogue is not limited to the current crisis alone. He said that the European Union has to pay attention to the changes taking place in India. Dr. Jaishankar called upon the leaders to consider six points such as taking advantage of globalization, Indo-Pacific and market participation.

4 The third meeting of the G-20 Energy Transition Working Group under the chairmanship of India begins in Mumbai.

Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines  Raosaheb Danve  said that  in the third meeting of the Energy Transition Working Group  in  Mumbai  under the  G-20 chairmanship of India  , the G-20 representatives are deliberating on various alternatives to fossil fuels. India has decided to make carbon emissions net zero by 2070. Shri Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power and Chairman, Energy Transformation Working Group also addressed the inaugural session of the meeting. During this three-day meeting, more than 100 delegates representing G-20 member states, special invitees and international organizations such as the International Energy Agency, the World Bank and the World Energy Council are deliberating on priority areas.

5 Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav launched My Life mobile application in New Delhi

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister  Bhupendra Yadav  launched   a mobile application named Meri Life in  New Delhi  . It is inspired by the concept of Life as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi  in  My Life  Cop- 26  , which emphasizes on conscious and deliberate consumption rather than mindless and wasteful consumption. The Prime Minister inaugurated Mission Life in Kevadia, Gujarat in October 2022. This Mission Life focuses on bringing behavioral change in individuals through simple and easy actions. To further catalyze pan-India support and awareness about LIFE, a month-long public support campaign is currently underway. The campaign will culminate in a massive celebration of World Environment Day on 5th June this year.

6 Union Minister Hardeep S Puri launched the mega campaign ‘My Life, My Clean City’

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister  Hardeep S Puri  launched   his ministry’s mega campaign ‘ My Life, My Clean City’ in New Delhi.‘ launched. The campaign aims to champion, reduce, reuse and recycle (RRR) concept of waste management. Under this nationwide campaign, RRR centers or one-stop collection centers will be set up where citizens can give their used clothes, shoes, old books, toys and plastics for reuse or recycling. The three-week campaign will strengthen the resolve of citizens under SBM-U 2.0 – to reduce, reuse and recycle – and to take collective action to protect and preserve the environment by adopting sustainable daily living. Will also promote the purpose. The RRR centers are to be launched across the country on the 20th of this month and will be available to citizens, institutions and commercial enterprises to collect unused or used plastic items, clothing, footwear, footwear, Will serve as a one-stop solution for hoarding books and toys. My Life, My Clean City will culminate with the resolution of LiFE on 5th of next month, which will be celebrated on the occasion of World Environment Day, as well as a massive cleanliness drive in all cities.

7 E.F. TA members take important step towards new business and partnership agreement

India and the members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)  have taken important steps towards a new trade and partnership agreement. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal  held discussions with representatives of the association  at the ministerial meeting in  Brussels . The meeting discussed ways to work towards a comprehensive new business and partnership agreement.

8 Culture Working Group meeting under India’s G2O Presidency begins in Odisha

 The four –  day Culture Working Group meeting   under  India’s G2O chairmanship  began in Bhubaneswar , Odisha . The meeting will emphasize on ‘ Culture unites all ‘ in a campaign mode to highlight India’s unwavering belief in multilateralism based on peaceful co-existence among diverse cultures and communities. To mark the occasion,  Padma Shri Sudarshan Patnaik of Odisha  has created sand art on the theme at Puri Beach as part of the   ‘ Culture Unites All ‘ campaign.

9 All India Radio Director General Dr. Vasudha Gupta released the souvenir “Akashibarta” on the occasion of 67th Foundation Day of RNU

 In a program organized in collaboration with  Oil India Limited  on  the 67th Foundation Day  of Regional News Unit of All  India Radio Guwahati, Director General All India News Dr. Vasudha Gupta  said that All India Radio has credibility and accuracy and presents only news rather than views.  The Director General released a souvenir Akashbarta on the occasion  . The Regional News Service of All India Radio has played an important role in providing news and information to the people of the North-Eastern states of India. Regional News Unit of All India Radio Guwahati on  15 May 1957 started broadcasting the news. There was a huge increase in the ancolic collection of that time as people had to wait for a long time to receive newspapers in far-flung parts.

10 IDEX-DIO signs 250 contracts under 100 ‘SPRINT’ (Navy) contracts from earlier ‘Mission Def-Space’

Innovation for Defense Excellence (IDX)  , a flagship initiative of  the Ministry of Defence,  has crossed a milestone with the signing of its 250th contract  on May 15, 2023   in  New Delhi . Signing of contract Defense Secretary  Shri Girdhar Armane and were done in the presence of other senior officers and military officers. The first IDX contract for Mission Def-Space was exchanged between Additional Secretary Defense Production and CEO Defense Innovation Organization DIO Shri T Natarajan and CEO Inspace City Shri Arindrajit Chowdhary, one of the winners of the Micro Propulsion System Challenge for CubeSats Were. The Defense Space Agency is leading this challenge. Recognizing the strategic importance of the space sector, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Mission DEF SPACE with 75 space-related defense challenges addressed to the private sector during the DEF Expo held in Gandhinagar in October 2022. It aims to develop India’s private space industry by addressing every space-mission challenge, from mission planning to satellite data analytics.

11 Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Shri G. Kishan Reddy and Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a specially curated cultural exhibition ‘Sustain: The Craft Ideum’ at Kala Bhoomi at the 2nd G-20 Culture Working Group meeting in Bhubaneswar

 In a program organized on the sidelines of the 2nd G-20 Culture Working Group meeting  in  Bhubaneswar , a specially designed  cultural exhibition with the theme ‘ Sustain: The Craft Idiom ‘  was inaugurated by Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North East Region  Shri . Yes. Kishan Reddy  and  Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik  did it. The exhibition is being held from May 16 to 22, 2023 at Kala Bhoomi – Odisha Crafts Museum. The exhibition ‘Sustain: The Craft Idium’ is a cultural project organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for the 2nd G-20 Culture Working Group (CWG) meeting (May 14 to 17, 2023) being held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Is. The theme of the exhibition is based on and reflects the second priority of the Culture Working Group (CWG) – ‘The Appropriate Use of Living Heritage for a Sustainable Future’.

12 Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister launched Integrated Biological Control Laboratory in Hyderabad

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar,  Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,  Government of India , inaugurated the Integrated Biological Control Laboratory  at  the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM),  Hyderabad  , Telangana  on   May 15, 2023.  launched. The new Integrated Biological Control Laboratory (BC Lab) is a state-of-the-art laboratory set up at NIPHM, with facilities to provide hands-on experience on production methods for biopesticides and biocontrol agents. These include predators and parasitoids, entomopathogenic fungi, biofertilizers, NPV, pheromones, and flora. Use of bio-control agents, bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers will help reduce the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, thereby minimizing adverse effects on the environment and human health, and thereby improving soil and plant health Will help in conducting the activities of The new Integrated Biological Control Laboratory will also have an Insect Museum, Weed Museum, Exhibition Hall, Natural Farming Cell etc.

13 A small insect called Eretmoptera murfii is changing the soil structure of the Antarctic’s Signy Island: BAS

A tiny flightless midge called Eretmoptera  murphyi is  changing the soil composition  of  Antarctica’s Signy Island  , according to a study by  the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). Is. It is an invasive species on Signy Island in the Antarctic. It is endemic to South Georgia, a sub-Antarctic island, and was unintentionally introduced to Signy Island in the 1960s during a botanic experiment. The 1980s saw a significant increase in its prevalence. Eratmoptera murfii feed on dead organic matter, causing rapid plant decomposition and increased soil nitrate levels three to five times higher than in areas of the island where midges (small biting insects) are absent and only local invertebrate species are found. High levels of nitrate can be toxic to other plant species and can also contaminate groundwater. High levels of nitrates in water can lead to excessive growth of algae, which can deplete oxygen levels and harm aquatic life.

14 14th Y20 consultation meeting held at University of Kashmir

Recently,   as a part of  India’s G20 presidency, Youth20 (Y20) group  ‘s  Y20 consultation program was organized at  the University of Kashmir  , in which the youth exchanged ideas for a better future of the country and ‘ Climate Change and Disaster’ Action Plan Program on ‘Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life ‘ was organized. India has   assumed the chairmanship of G20 on December 1, 2022 for a period of 1 year i.e. till November 30, 2023. India’s theme for the presidency is rooted in the civilizational value system of ‘ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ‘ (which is derived from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad). Hence our theme is- ‘ One Earth, One Family, One Future’, Under the framework of the G20 Presidency, the Department of Youth Affairs has been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the Youth 20 Summit – 2023. Youth20, one of the officially incorporated groups of the G20, provides a platform for young people to express their views and opinions on G20 priorities.

15 Moroccan locust outbreak in 15 wheat growing areas of Afghanistan

Moroccan locusts  in  wheat-producing areas  of  Afghanistan The outbreak is posing a serious threat to the country’s food security and economy. The outbreak may affect up to eight provinces, as well as destroy 700,000–1.2 million tons of wheat, equivalent to one-quarter of the annual crop. If left undiagnosed, the locust population could increase a hundredfold in the next year, posing a threat to food security in Afghanistan and neighboring countries. Moroccan locust is known to be one of the most harmful pests of plants in the world. Its impact extends beyond wheat crops, as Moroccan locusts consume more than 150 species of plants, including tree crops, pastures, and various food crops grown in Afghanistan. moroccan grasshoppers, Scientifically known as ‘Dociostaurus maroccanus’. They belong to the group Acrididae, which includes grasshoppers and locusts.

16 Bhopal, the first Indian city to track SDG progress

Bhopal  has   taken an important step towards localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  mandated by  the United Nations . First city in India  to adopt  Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR) to demonstrate its commitment and capability to achieve SDGs  has been made. Localizing the 2030 Agenda for the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development into practical local strategies is likely to help in the overall achievement of the specified targets. Bhopal’s Voluntary Local Review (VLR) is the result of a collaboration between Bhopal Municipal Corporation, UN-Habitat and various local stakeholders, which aims to showcase the city’s efforts towards sustainable and inclusive urban transformation. This review includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches, including qualitative mapping of 56 development projects. In 2015, all 193 UN member states adopted Agenda 2030, which includes 17 SDGs and 169 objectives.

17 Tibet Matters March was organized

The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC)  has   organized  a month-long  Tibet cause march  from  Gangtok in Sikkim to Tezpur in Assam . It began on 29 April, with over 80 volunteers from TYC regional chapters in India and Nepal joining the march. The primary objective of the Tibet Matters March is to raise awareness of the human rights situation in Tibet and to promote Tibetan independence. During the Tibet Matters March, TYC activists are calling on international leaders and China to take necessary measures to resolve the Sino-Tibet dispute. He urged the G20 leaders to raise the issue during their summit to be held in September 2023.

18 ESA’s Aeolus satellite running out of fuel: report

Aeolus  is a 1360-kg satellite   launched (in August 2018) into space  by  the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Earth Explorer research mission to demonstrate new space technology. It is the pioneering satellite mission that collected global profiles of Earth’s air, which are used to enhance weather forecasts and climate models. Aeolus’ initial mission duration in space was three years, and it became one of the highest impact-per-observation weather satellites. After five years, the spacecraft is now losing its fuel, and its tanks are nearly exhausted.

19 ISRO tests semi-cryogenic engine

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)  has successfully tested   its  semi-cryogenic engine , which will be used in future launch vehicles. The ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPCR)  at  Mahendragiri  in  Tamil Nadu  conducted the first integrated test of the 2000 kilonewton thrust semi-cryogenic engine on intermediate configuration, a statement issued  from  the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru  said. This is the first step towards developing a 2000 kilonewton thrust engine that can run on  liquid oxygen (LOX) and kerosene propellants. Will work with the combination of, which will be used in future launch vehicles. It was the first of several tests to test the design of the propellant feed system, including low-pressure and high-pressure turbo-pumps, gas generators and control components, according to the statement.

20 Handicrafts and Handlooms Department of Kashmir Receives OFDA 4000 Equipment

The Handicrafts and Handlooms Department  of   Kashmir  has  acquired a state-of-the-art equipment known as OFDA 4000 . The device  is set to revolutionize the testing and certification  process for pashmina, a luxurious fabric known for its luxurious warmth and softness. The equipment was inaugurated at the prestigious Pashmina Testing and Quality Certification Center located at Bagh e Ali Mardan Khan Nowshera, Srinagar. The primary purpose of the OFDA 4000 instrument is to enhance the testing process and classification of Pashmina and other fibers. One of the remarkable features of the instrument is its ability to quantify various characteristics of the fibre. It can accurately measure factors such as micron, length, crimp, etc.
