1.Mahathir Mohammed sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Malaysia :-

Malaysian veteran leader Mahatir Mohammed sworn once again on Thursday as the Prime Minister. In this election, Mahatir Mohammed’s Constituent Assembly, Pekatan Harapan, got one hundred and 13 seats out of a total of two hundred 22 seats. Their coalition defeated the ruling coalition National Coalition, headed by Prime Minister Najib Razak.

After being trapped in a corruption scandal of Prime Minister Najib Razak, Dr. Mahathir Mohammed, who has retired from politics, has come back to power in a dramatic way after nearly two decades. Doctor Mahathir will be the oldest Prime Minister of the world who will take over the reins of power in 92 years.

2.External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj meets Myanm’s President U-Win-Mint :-

 

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met President U Win Mint in Neptidou in Myanmar on Thursday. Mrs. Swaraj is on a two-day visit to Myanm for discussions on bilateral and regional issues. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said that during the visit, seven agreements will be signed. A thousand six hundred and forty kilometers of India’s neighboring country of Myanmar seems to be from the North-Eastern states.

3.154 of Karnataka Legislative Assembly – General Election of Rajarajeshwari assembly constituency 2018 adjourned: Election Commission of India :-

The Election Commission of India has instructed using the powers conferred under Articles 32 and 153 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, read with the powers conferred under Article 324 of the Constitution and Article 21 of the General Sub-Section Act, 1857, that in Karnataka 154- Rajarajeshwari The election to be held in the city assembly area on May 12, 2018 will be postponed

In this context, the Commission has further directed that voting in this assembly constituency will now be held on May 28, 2018 (Monday) and the votes of this constituency will be counted on 31 May 2018 (Thursday).

4.ICF gave new look to LHB air-conditioned coaches :-

As part of the Rail Coach Design Innovation Plan, the production unit Etregral Coach Factory (ICF), under the Ministry of Railways, has arranged an unbroken window by placing extra glass on vertical columns in the LACCN (LHB3 Tier AC) coach. This will make the air-conditioned coach look attractive and look beautiful from outside. Provision of uninterrupted window will be made in all air-conditioned sections in phase bound manner.

5.In the poor chariot will now be implemented in 64 trains including Pantry, Capital :-

Even in poor chariot trains, there will still be pantry. The improvement of catering will start from the poor chariot. Smart menus will also be applied in the capital and remote trains. Gradually, this system will be implemented in other trains.

Mini Pantry is a small area of passenger train, where arrangements are made to store, heat and prepare food for distribution. Only this kind of arrangement can be seen in centenary trains. But from July the poor chariot trains will be implemented. Later, in all such mail-express trains, there will be mini pantry in which there is no provision of pantry car. Now catering to 334 mail-express trains by IRCTC, 26 trains have pantry car arrangements.

6.Dhoni, who ran out of Butler, lost to Chennai by four wickets :-

7.In 70 cities polluting the Ganges, 32 Bihar will spend Rs 20 billion on cleanliness :-

Union Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Protection Minister Nitin Gadkari have claimed that 70 to 80 percent of the Ganga will be cleaned up till March 2019. He said that 70 cities of the country are polluting Ganga, it includes 32 cities of Bihar. Special projects will be operated under Namami Ganga Abhiyan.

On Thursday, Gadkari was convinced with video conferencing through journalists of major cities of Ganga coast. He told that 1809 companies and factories are polluting the Ganga. 214 projects are operated for preventing polluted water from these factories and cleaning the Ganges. Of these, 41 have been completed so far. So far 10,000 trees have been planted on the Ganges coast for Nirmal and Aviral Ganga.

8.Twenty percent reduction in salary of MPs in Poland :-

The Parliament of Poland has decided to cut a 20 per cent cut in the salaries of MPs due to the bonus dispute. Parliament made this decision when the ministers were publicly criticized for the announcement of bonuses.

The Parliament, dominated by the Nationalist Law and Justice Party, passed the resolution of the reduction of MPs by 240 votes. The main Opposition parties remained absent during the voting.

Last year, the then Prime Minister Beta Sidelo decided to give ten times more bonuses than the monthly salary to the Cabinet Ministers themselves. His decision was being fiercely criticized.

 9.RBI’s new rules on banks, facing losses :-

It will be known later that the new rule of NBFC will benefit the banks by the new rules. But these rules are badly affecting the financial consequences of the government banks. With the new rules about identifying trapped loans (NPAs) and making financial adjustments for them, government banks have to separate a large amount from their profits. So these banks are losing money. On Thursday and Friday, the financial results of the public sector Dena Bank, Union Bank and Canara Bank have come up, and due to the new rules of NPA, the three banks have suffered huge losses.

Union Bank of India has raised a loss of Rs 2,583 crore in the fourth and last quarter (January-March, 2018) of last financial year. The bank had a net profit of Rs 108 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. This happened because the bank had to make a provision of Rs 5,667.92 crore in the quarter under the NPA. In the same period last year, the bank had to make provision of Rs 2,444.12 crore in this item. In the last full financial year (2017-18), the bank has a loss of Rs 5,212.47 crore.

10.$ 1.43 billion fall in the forex reserves decreased to $ 418.94 billion :-

Continuing the trend of decline, the country’s foreign exchange reserves had fallen to $ 416.88 billion in the week ending May 4, $ 1.426 billion. This fall in the forex reserves has been seen due to a decrease in foreign currency assets. This information has come out through the data released by the RBI today.

In its previous week, the country’s foreign exchange reserves (Forex reserves) dropped by $ 3.216 billion to $ 420.366 billion. During April 2018, the country’s foreign exchange reserves touched $ 426.028 billion. The country’s foreign exchange reserves had crossed the $ 400 billion mark for the first time on September 8, 2017. But since then, it is getting fluctuating.

 11.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli flagged off a direct bus service from Janakpur to Ayodhya jointly :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli jointly launched direct bus service to Ayodhya in India from Janakpur in Nepal on Friday. On this occasion, Shri Modi said that both India and Nepal will work for the development of Ramayana Tourism Circuit between the two countries. This will help to strengthen the relationship between the people of India and Nepal.

 12.In Maharashtra, banks decided to lend 85 thousand four hundred and sixty crores of loan for agriculture sector :-

In Maharashtra, banks have decided to lend Rs. 85 thousand four hundred and sixty crores for agriculture sector. Our correspondent has said that this decision was taken in the state-level banking committee’s meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday.

According to our correspondent, “According to the committee approved credit distribution scheme, Rs 58 thousand three hundred and 19 crore in crop loan and 27 thousand rupees 45 crore for capital investment in this area. Fadnavis, expressing anguish over the reduction in agricultural sector distribution in 2017-18, said that agriculture is the first priority of his government. He asked the banks to formulate a more focused strategy to feed the farmers on a financial basis.

13.US banned six civilians and three companies for relations with Iran’s army :-

The United States has banned Iran’s six civilians and three companies for their alleged involvement with Iran’s military. Finance Minister Steven Manuchin said in a statement that these restrictions have been imposed on those people who have given millions of dollars to the Iranian army. He said that the Iranian regime and its central bank exploited the illicit use of financial institutions of the United Arab Emirates for the purpose of raising funds for their army.
