1. PM inaugurates Sansad Khel Mahakumbh in Basti, Uttar Pradesh
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 through video conferencing . Sansad Khel Mahakumbh is being organized from 2021 by Mr. Harish Dwivedi , MP of Basti district . During this Khel Mahakumbh, various competitions are organized in both indoor and outdoor sports like wrestling, kabaddi, kho-kho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis etc. Apart from these, competitions like essay writing, painting, rangoli making are also organized. The first phase of Khel Mahakumbh was organized from 10 to 16 December 2022 and the second phase of Khel Mahakumbh from 18 to 28 January 2023were determined.
2. 6th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha to be held on 27th January at Indira Gandhi Memorial High School in Kolkata

4. Vietnam President Nguyen Xuan Phuc announces resignation amid anti-corruption campaign
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has announced his resignation amid ongoing anti- corruption campaign in Vietnam . The anti-corruption campaign has led to the sacking of several ministers in Vietnam. Prior to this, two Deputy Prime Ministers who had served under President Phuc had quit. Mr Phuc had assumed the office of president in 2021. Seventy-nine years old Phuc served as the Prime Minister of Vietnam from 2016 to April 2021. Leaving the presidency requires approval from the National Assembly, but this is merely a formality. The Communist Party praised Phuc’s leadership in a statement, saying that he was politically responsible for the violations and wrongdoings of many officials under him.
5. India announces 100 million Maldivian rufiyaa for community development projects in Maldives
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has said that India will provide financial assistance of ten crore Maldivian rufiyaa for community development projects in Maldives. He said that India has completed 23 out of 45 impressive community development projects in Maldives . Dr. Jaishankar reached Maldives on a three-day foreign visit . He will also visit Sri Lanka . Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that all necessary efforts should be made to reduce road accidents by 50 percent before the end of the year 2025 . 7. NCERT launches India’s first National Assessment Regulator “PARKH”
The National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) has released India’s first national assessment standard, The Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH) , which is the standard for student assessment for all recognized school boards in the country. and will work on establishing criteria, standards and guidelines for evaluation. Parakh has been launched as a part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

9. Kollam became India’s first constitution literate district
In a historic achievement, Kollam district has become the first constitution literate district in the country. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi VijayanIt was announced by The district’s success is the result of a seven-month campaign launched by the Kollam District Panchayat, the District Planning Committee and the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) to educate citizens about the laws of the country and their rights. The objective of this campaign is to provide constitutional literacy to 23 lakh citizens of 7 lakh families in the district. To achieve this goal, awareness classes were organized for about 90% people in Kollam. About 16.3 lakh people above the age of 10 years were educated by 2,200 trainers called “Senators”, who visited schools, offices, auto stands and tribal councils to create awareness.

Retired Director General of BSF , Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh was recently appointed as the Deputy National Security Adviser in the National Security Council Secretariat for a period of two years. Singh, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed on re-employment contract. Pankaj Kumar Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, holds LLB and MPhil degrees apart from an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. He is the son of Prakash Singh, a retired 1959 batch IPS officer, who also headed the BSF from June 1993 to January 1994.

14. Italy’s Michele Centella creates Guinness World Record by making ‘mirror typing’ books
According to a report by Guinness World Records (GWR) , an Italian man, Michele Centella has created a world record by typing copies of 81 books upside down , a practice called ‘ mirror writing ‘. He types each book in its original language whether it be hieroglyphs, Old Hebrew, Traditional Chinese, Mayan, Etruscan, Cuneiform or Voynich glyphs. He reverse-typed the Bible, the Code of Hammurabi, the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Book of the Dead from ancient Egypt, the writings of Leonardo da Vinci. He is able to type using 16 computer keyboards located simultaneously at different heights. He credits Leonardo da Vinci who inspired him to do mirror typing.
