1 President Draupadi Murmu gives assent to Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Amendment Bill and Digital Personal Data Protection Bill

President  Draupadi Murmu  has   given assent to the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 . The Bill was passed unanimously by the Rajya Sabha on August 9 and by a voice vote in the Lok Sabha on August 7. The purpose of the bill is  to protect the personal data of people and to make laws for its management  . The Bill   provides for the establishment of the Data Protection Board of India . Earlier, Electronics and Information Technology Minister  Ashwini Vaishnav  said that the bill aims to protect the digital personal data of 140 crore Indians.
The President   also gave assent to the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 . bill  Empowers the central government to make rules on government matters . It contains the functions, terms and other conditions of service of the officers and employees of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. There   is also a provision for the constitution of the National Capital Civil Services Authority . The Authority consists of the Chief Minister of Delhi  , the Chief Secretary of Delhi and the Principal Home Secretary of Delhi.  The Authority will make recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on transfer and posting of officers and on disciplinary matters  .

2 PM addresses G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  addressed the G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting  in  Kolkata  through a video message  . Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister   welcomed the dignitaries to Kolkata, the city of Nobel laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, and said that this is the first time that the G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting is happening in a real way. Referring to Tagore’s writings, the Prime Minister cautioned against greed as it prevents us from experiencing the truth. He also referred to the ancient Indian Upanishads, which give the message of ‘ma gridha’, which means ‘let there be no greed’.

3 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of rail and road projects worth about four thousand crore rupees in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  inaugurated   and laid the foundation stone of  rail  and road projects worth  about  Rs 4,000 crore at Sagar ke Dhana  in  Madhya Pradesh . Shri Modi performed Bhumi Pujan of the memorial and temple of Sant Ravidas to be built at a cost of about Rs 100 crore at Badtuma near Sagar. He also unveiled a plaque. With this, the Samarsata Yatra, which started from five places in the state, also came to an end.

4 CJI Chandrachud launched the Welcome Portal

The Supreme Court on August 10 announced the launch of   ‘ Suswagatam ‘ portal, which will enable advocates, visitors, trainees and others to  register themselves online and   obtain e-passes for entry into the apex court. The Suswagatam portal was tested as a pilot project from July 25, 2023 and has received positive feedback from the users. It is a web-based and mobile-friendly application that allows users to request for e-passes for various purposes such as attending court hearings, meeting advocates, etc.

5 Home Minister congratulates the team associated with the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System for winning the Gold Medal

Union Minister for Home and Cooperation  Shri Amit Shah  has   awarded the team of  National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS)  of  NCRB in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India in  “ Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation ” Category-I   Congratulations on winning the Gold Award . Under the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, NAFIS equipment has been installed in all Districts, Commissioner of Police Offices, Central and State Fingerprint Bureaus and NIA, CBI and NCB  . As given to central agencies. NAFIS has revolutionized the fingerprint recognition system in crime control. With this system, the work of tracing the involvement of interstate criminals in crimes is being done with greater ease, accuracy and efficiency across the country. NAFIS has created a central database of criminal fingerprints, which can be accessed by users from all states, union territories and central agencies. This has resulted in a qualitative improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal detection and investigation process.

6 Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates three connectivity projects worth Rs 360 crore to boost coastal security in Gujarat

Union Home and Cooperation Minister  Amit Shah  laid   the foundation stone of IFFCO Nano Urea Plant  at  Gandhidham  in  Kutch . Mr Shah   is on a two-day visit to his home state Gujarat . Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the security of the country’s coastal areas is very important. He reiterated the country’s commitment to infrastructure facilities at the borders to ensure peace and tranquility.  Laying of Foundation Stone of  Border Security Force Mooring Place  at  Koteshwar in Kutch District   and newly constructed  Chidiyamod Byarbet Link Road  and  OP Tower at Harami Nala He said this while addressing the gathering organized after virtually inaugurating the On this occasion, he said that a total of Rs 360 crore would be spent on these three projects. 7 Ministry of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Commerce in association with Ministry of Rural Development launched One District One Product Program at SARAS Aajeevika Store

 Ministry  of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Commerce  in association with  Ministry of Rural Development  launched  One District One Product program  to promote local artists and craftsmen at  SARAS Aajeevika Store  in  New Delhi . Charanjit Singh,  Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development inaugurating  the One District One Product Wall Said that the purpose of this exhibition is to promote cordial partnership between the two important ministries. Its objective is to attract consumers and interested people towards exclusive types of products from India. It aims to showcase the special and unique products of each district, including handloom and handicraft items. Addressing Saras Aajeevika, Supriya Devasthali, Director, Industries and Internal Trade Development Department, said that this will give a boost to women empowerment.

8 Arunachal Pradesh government allots 12 ‘stalled’ hydropower projects to three Central Public Sector Undertakings

The Arunachal Pradesh  government   has allocated 12 ‘stalled’ hydropower projects  to  three Central Public Sector  Undertakings  . Union Power Minister  R.K. Singh  signed the MoU in this regard in the presence of  Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister  Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. The total operational capacity of these 12 projects taken back from private companies   will be 11 thousand 523 MW . These projects, which were awarded about 15 years ago, were stalled due to various reasons.

9 Every house tricolor campaign till Independence Day across the country

In order to awaken the feeling of patriotism among the countrymen,  the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’  has started  from today  . Prime Minister  Narendra Modi has appealed  to all the countrymen to  participate in this campaign that will run from 13 to 15 August  and upload photos with the tricolor on the website Har Ghar Tiranga.com. The Prime Minister has said that the tricolor is a symbol of the spirit of freedom and national integration.

10. Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar became caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan

 The President of  Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi  has   approved the appointment of Balochistan Awami Party-BAP  Senator  Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar as the caretaker Prime Minister of the country. Earlier in Islamabad,   Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar has been nominated as caretaker Prime Minister after talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  and Leader of the Opposition  Raja Riaz . Mr. Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar was elected as an Independent Senator from Balochistan in 2018 and his six-year term ends in March 2024. A day after the premature dissolution of the National Assembly on the 9th of this month, the process of appointing a caretaker prime minister began.

11 Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated the exhibition “Women in Focus” in the capital today

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture  Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated the  ” Women in Focus ” exhibition organized on the theme of the imagination of women in Indian art  at the National Museum in the capital  . During this, Mrs. Lekhi also released the exhibition catalog and the newly published book ” BuddhaBuddhism and Buddhist Art “. In her address, Smt. Lekhi talked about  the Indus Saraswati civilization.  Highlighted the importance of female sculptures found during excavations at various sites. He said that these sculptures of women show that in the past also women have been depicted as a subject in Indian arts. Organized as an empowerment part of the G-20 Summit, the audience is encouraged to engage with different artistic interpretations of womanhood through this exhibition. Ambassadors of many countries also participated in this program. Which included ambassadors from countries like South Korea, Lithuania, Romania, Chile, Argentina, Cuba, Myanmar, Syria.

12 Mega Oil Palm Plantation Drive organized in 49 districts of  11 states

Under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm  , the State Governments along with Oil Palm Processing Companies launched the ‘ Mega Oil Palm Plantation Drive ‘. Launched on 25 July 2023, the campaign aims to further promote oil palm cultivation, making the country and farmers ‘self-reliant’ in the production of edible oils. Through this campaign,   it will help in achieving the target of increasing  6.5 lakh hectares of additional area under oil palm cultivation under oil palm production by 2025-26. Andhra PradeshArunachal PradeshAssamGoaKarnatakaMizoramNagalandOdishaTamil NaduTelangana  and  Tripura  are its major oil producing states. Oil palm processing companies like Patanjali Food Pvt LtdGodrej Agrovet  and  3F  actively participated in this campaign.

Nuwama Alternative & Quantitative Research  A recent report suggested that REC shares were being considered as strong contenders for the November, 2023 review. An analysis by Nuwama Alternative and Quantitative Research estimates REC inflows to be around $184 million. REC’s inclusion in MSCI strengthens REC’s position as a leading enterprise in the financial sector and markets, and opens up new horizons to expand its reach and influence on a global scale and scale. REC’s entry into the SSCI index is commendable and restores its stature as one of the leading financial organizations across the globe. 14 RBI imposes monetary penalty on 4 cooperative banks for regulatory violations

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has imposed monetary penalty on four cooperative banks  for deficiencies in regulatory compliance  . These banks are –  Shri Vinayak Cooperative Bank, Shreeji Bhatia Cooperative Bank, Mizoram Urban Cooperative Development Bank and Vita Urban Cooperative Bank  . RBI has taken strong action by imposing a total monetary penalty of Rs 4.20 lakh on four co-operative banks.

16 Nuclear rocket for space travel

NASA  , in collaboration with  the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA),  is exploring   a nuclear  propulsion system that  could potentially cut travel time to Mars in half. This ambitious initiative is   known as  the Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations (DRACO) and  is scheduled to launch in late 2025 or early 2026. The DRACO project offers the possibility of shorter travel times and improved fuel efficiency between celestial bodies. Central to DRACO’s vision is a  nuclear reactor  that   harnesses the energy derived from the fission of uranium atoms .

18 India won the Asian Champions Trophy title for the fourth time

India  (captain  Harmanpreet Singh )  beat Malaysia 4-3  in the final of   the  Asian Champions Trophy Hockey  . The Indian team  has won this title for the fourth time  , while Malaysia has never won this title. However, the team has finished third five times. There was a tough competition between both the teams. India came from 1–3 down to win 4–3. Now India has become the country to win the Asian Champions Trophy the maximum number of times. Pakistan has won this title thrice. Earlier India had won this trophy in 2011, 2016 and 2018. India and Pakistan were joint winners in 2018, as the final was abandoned due to rain.

19 International Youth Day 2023

Every year, on  12 August  , the global community comes together   to celebrate International Youth Day . This annual occasion  is recognized by the United Nations (UN)  , serving as a special day to address important issues affecting the world’s youth population. On 17 December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly officially adopted a recommendation that was presented by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth. This was the beginning of International Youth Day. The first celebration took place on 12 August 2000, and since then the day has been used as a tool for education, youth engagement in politics, and effective resource management to address global challenges.

20 World Elephant Day

World Elephant Day , observed   on  12 August every year  , aims  to acknowledge the importance of elephants in our ecosystem . It emphasizes on raising awareness among people about the threats faced by elephants in their daily life. Plays an important role in reducing factors such as poaching of elephants, mistreatment of domesticated elephants, damage to their habitat.  The first International Elephant Day was observed on 12 August 2012 . Since then, it is celebrated annually.
