The Indian Air Force  has recently  made a night landing   at  Kargil airstrip for the first time  with  a C-130J aircraft .  The Air Force said the practice flight also accomplished the Garud Commando training mission using area masking of the flight path. 

2 Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party gets majority in Bangladesh national elections

Sheikh Hasina  -led  Awami League party  has secured majority  in   the national elections  in Bangladesh . Elections held for 299 seats of Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh   results for 224 seats have been received so far. Awami League has won 165 seats, while nine candidates of Jatiya Party have won. 49 independents and one candidate from other parties have won. With this spectacular victory, the current Prime Minister and Awami League President  will form the government for the fourth consecutive time  and   will become the Prime Minister for the fifth time . He won Gopalganj-3 seat by a huge margin.  Voting took place for 299 out of three hundred seats . According to the Election Commission of Bangladesh,  about forty percent voting took place in the parliamentary elections .

He was also joined by Madhya Pradesh  Chief Minister  Dr. Manoj Yadav , Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, State Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel and MP Shri Anil Firozia. “Prasadam” provides convenient and culturally rich food options to the 1 to 1.5 lakh devotees who visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple daily. In this food street, 19 shops have been set up in a total area of ​​939 square meters. Various facilities have been provided here including children’s play area, drinking water facility, CCTV surveillance, parking, public facilities and seating areas. 5 Punjab becomes first state to map accident hotspots

Punjab  has become the first state in India to map  all 784 accident black spots   on  the navigation system  Maps app developed by  MapMyIndia  . 7 France first European country to issue digital Schengen visa

France   has become  the first EU member  to introduce   fully  digital Schengen visas for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris . Starting January 1, 2024  , the newly launched “ Olympic Consulate ” system operates through the France-Visa portal, streamlining the application process for 15,000 international athletes, 9,000 journalists and foreign delegations.

8 ‘Bharat Park’ will open in UAE

The Indian  government   is planning to set up a  dedicated trade zone ‘Bharat Park’  in the UAE , which will have showrooms and warehouses to display and store Indian manufactured goods for a global audience. Union Minister  Piyush Goyal  stressed the role of the sector in facilitating international procurement of Indian products with secure transactions in the UAE.

9 India will launch its satellite through SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket

NewSpace India Limited (NSIL)  , the commercial arm of  the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO),  has   announced its collaboration with billionaire Elon Musk  -owned  SpaceX  to launch  communications satellite GSAT-20 . This is India’s first partnership with SpaceX, marking significant progress in space exploration and satellite deployment. ISRO’s 4.7 tonne satellite GSAT-20, now named GSAT-N2, is a high throughput Ka-band satellite designed to meet India’s growing broadband communications requirements. Ka-band satellites such as GSAT-20 provide high-speed broadband Internet connectivity, as well as facilitate digital video and audio transmission. The satellite boasts an impressive Ka-band HTS capability with 32 beams,   providing coverage across India, including remote areas such as Andaman and Nicobar  and  Lakshadweep Islands.

10 10th century Kadamba inscription found in Goa

In an archaeological discovery,  an inscription from the 10th century AD  has been found   in  the Mahadev Temple  at  Kakoda  in  South  Goa .  The inscription, written  in both Kannada and Sanskrit , throws light on a historical episode during the Kadamba period  , providing valuable insight into the past of the region. T. Murugeshi, a retired associate professor specializing in ancient history and archeology at Mulki Sundar Rama Shetty College in Udupi district, studied the inscription carefully. Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar brought the discovery to light, highlighting the collaborative effort in uncovering this historical gem.

15 ISRO successfully tests fuel cell on POEM3 platform of PSLV-C58

 On  January 1, 2024 , the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)  achieved a significant milestone by successfully testing a 100 W class  Polymer  Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell based Power System (FCPS)  in   its orbital platform,  POEM3 . This remarkable achievement  PSLV-C58   mission, which is an important step in the evaluation of fuel cell technology for future space missions. During short-term testing at POEM, the FCPS generated 180 W of power using hydrogen and oxygen gases stored in high-pressure vessels. This successful test provided abundant data on the performance of various static and dynamic systems integrated into the power system, shedding light on the complex physics involved.

16. GDP growth rate is expected to be 6.2% in 2024: UN

The United Nations  has said that India’s growth rate  is expected to be 6.2 percent in 2024 due to strong domestic demand and strong growth in manufacturing and services sectors. The United Nations’  World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) 2024 report  said  gross domestic product (GDP) in South Asia  is projected to grow by 5.2 percent in 2024. The report said, “India’s growth rate is estimated to reach 6.2 percent in 2024, slightly lower than the forecast of 6.3 percent in 2023, due to strong domestic demand and strong growth in manufacturing and services sectors.”
