1.Man Utd beat Ajax to win emotional Europa League :-

Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored as Manchester United defeated Ajax 2-0 in Wednesday’s Europa League final in Stockholm, a match played out against the emotional backdrop of Monday’s terror attack in Manchester.

France midfielder Pogba opening the scoring with a deflected 18th-minute strike before Mkhitaryan added a second just after half-time as United secured the only major trophy missing from their honours.

2.Modi to be on four-nation tour from May 29 to June 3 :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Germany, Spain, Russia and France between May 29 and June 3.

The External Affairs Ministry has announced that he will hold bilateral talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Spanish Prime MinisterMariano Rajoy and French President Emmanuel Macron.

3.Moody’s cuts China’s rating on debt concerns :-

Moody’s ratings agency downgraded China’s credit score on Wednesday, warning that economy-wide debt is expected to rise as potential economic growth slows over the coming years.

The agency lowered China’s long-term local currency and foreign currency issuer ratings to A1 from Aa3, but said its outlook changed from “negative” to “stable“.

 

4.Indian-born woman elected to City of London Corporation :-

A 43-year-old UK entrepreneur has become the first India-born woman to be elected as a councillor to a ward in the UK.

Rehana Ameer, who was born and raised in Chennai, contested from Vintry ward in the City of London county as an independent candidate.

5.J&K security agencies want ban on social media to continue :-

Security agencies are advocating continuation of the ban on the social media in Kashmir claiming “it has yielded results on the ground”, as the one-month suspension ends on May 26.

Top police sources told The Hindu that there was “a visible change on the ground as rumour mongering on the social media sites like WhatsApp and Facebook has come down significantly” since the ban.

 

6.Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami invites Modi to unveil Jaya portrait in State Assembly :-

Chief Minister ‘Edappadi’ K Palaniswami on Wednesday invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unveil the portrait of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa in the State Assembly hall in July and also be the chief guest at the valedictory function to mark the centenary celebrations of AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran in December.

The Chief Minister also wrote letters on behalf of the State government to the Prime Minister regarding these two events.

 

7.Shah tours Left bastion in ‘mission South’:-

The villages of Gundrampalli and Terathpalli in Nalgonda district of Telangana are important spots in the itinerary of BJP president Amit Shah, currently on a visit to the State, as part of his 95-day tour of the country. A whirlwind tour, that nevertheless apportions 26 days to States of the south and Odisha, is significant as the BJP eyes to spread its wings in the South. The 95-day tour ends on September 28, after a three-day stopover in Tamil Nadu.

8.China shuts some live streaming sites, punishes companies :-

Chinese authorities have punished dozens of companies involved in live online broadcasting and shut down numerous hosting platforms for showing content that was pornographic, related to gambling or involved content considered superstitious and harmful to minors.

Almost half of China’s 730 million internet users use live video streaming sites and apps, according to authorities. The live broadcasting market was worth 21 billion RMB (USD 3 billion) in 2016, an increase of 180 percent from the year before, according to market research company iResearch.

 

9.I-T Dept. attaches benami properties :-

The Income Tax Department said on Wednesday that it has identified over 400 benami transactions and attached properties worth ₹600 crore in about 240 cases.

Keen on implementing the new Benami Act to ensure “visible outcomes on the ground”, the department had set up 24 dedicated Benami Prohibition Units (BPUs) all over India last week. It started initiating actions under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 from November 1 last year. The law provides for a maximum punishment of seven years in jail and a fine.

10.Strategic Partnership model for defence procurements comes into effect :-
