 1.Sunder Pichai, Nasdaq’s Friedman to receive 2019 Global Leadership Award:-

Google’s India-born CEO Sundar Pichai and Nasdaq president Adena Friedman have been chosen for the prestigious Global Leadership Awards 2019.The award is given by business advocacy group USIBC in recognition of the two companies’ contribution as the leading technology-driven platforms.The award by Washington-based US-India Business Council (USIBC) would be conferred upon Indian-American Pichai, and Friedman, during the next week’s ‘India Ideas Summit’.Given annually since 2007, the USIBC Global Leadership Awards recognise top corporate executives from the United States and India whose companies play a major role in catalysing growth in the US-India commercial corridor.

2.Army commissions air quality monitor at Fort William:-

As part of it’s countrywide ‘Go Green’ initiative, the Indian Army commissioned a “Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS)” at Fort William Military Station, Kolkata.Lt Gen M M Naravane, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, commissioned the system, which monitors air pollution on a real-time basis.The CAAQMS at the Eastern Command headquarters will measure air pollution, including particulate matter throughout the year.In addition, it also displays wind speed, direction, ambient temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, barometric pressure and rain gauge.

3.Indian Sukhoi will now fly with Rafael of France, will make war practice:-

Indian fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30 will be flying to France by the end of this month to participate in the Garud series maneuvers. There they will fly with the French ultra-fighter aircraft Rafael in a two-week-long maneuvering starting July 1.An official said, “Maneuvers are proposed on the airbase of France with the French Air Force next month. For this, by the end of this month, the Indian team, equipped with Sukhoi-30 aircraft, will leave. It is expected that 24 Squadron Hawks of Bareilly Base will represent India.Recently, India and France had joint exercises under the Varuna series in the Arabian Sea, in which Rafael-M of French Air Force participated with Indian Navy fighters.India and France are strategic partners and have been increasing mutual cooperation for the past several years. 36 Rafael aircraft deals between the two countries in 2016. These will cost Rs 58 thousand crore. First the Rafale aircraft to come to India in September this year.

4.Nagaland: Dzükou Valley becomes Plastic Free Zone on World Environment Day:-

In Nagaland, the scenic Dzükou Valley has become Plastic Free Zone on the occasion of World Environment Day.  The declaration was made officially by Advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha. The much-appreciated initiative on declaring this scenic valley as a ‘plastic-free zone’ was taken by Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) in accordance with its pledge to conserve and protect the environment.  Speaking at the declaration programme held at Viswema Village under Kohima district, Mr. Neikha termed Dzükou valley as a tourist hot spot and one of the most sought destination in the state. Head of Department, Tourism Mrs Akhale Khamo said Dzükou valley is not only a hot spot destination for foreign and domestic tourists and locals but it is also an educational institute for an environment.  Stating that Dzükou valley has become the most visited place in the state, she stressed on the need to preserve the valley.
It may be mentioned that SAYO had started the task of cleaning the valley since last month, where local volunteers had worked tirelessly to clear the plastic debris from all the areas of the iconic valley.

5.Russia launches first Arctic train service:-

In Russia, the first tourist train traveling through Russia’s Arctic region and on to Norway, set off from St. Petersburg station yesterday with 91 passengers aboard for the inaugural trial journey. The tourists came from seven countries including the US, Germany, Norway and Russia.The train, named, Zarengold, complete with two restaurant cars will travel from Saint Petersburg through according to the organisers, the whole trip will take 11 days and allow passengers to discover areas difficult to access by other means.

6.Sunil Chhetri becomes most capped India player:-

Sunil Chhetri became the most capped India player today by surpassing Bhaichung Bhutia’s 107 international matches. In his milestone match of the King’s Cup football tournament in Buriram, Thailand, he scored the lone goal for his side in the 31st minute from a spot kick for his 69th goal. His effort, however, did not make any difference as India, ranked 101, lost 1-3 to higher ranked Curacao. The 82nd ranked Caribbean island nation has two players associated with English Premier League and some others in European leagues. They scored three goals in the space of 18 minutes through Roly Bonevacia, Elson Hooi and Leandro Bacuna. India will play the losing team of the match between Thailand and Vietnam in the third-place play-off on Friday.

7.This unbreakable record of South Africa’s World Cup broken after India lost:-

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: South Africa’s team has registered a shameful record of the World Cup. South Africa suffered a defeat in the eighth match of the World Cup 2019 between South Africa and India in Southampton. Earlier, South Africa have lost their first two matches of this World Cup. In this way, in the 12th season of the World Cup, it is the third consecutive defeat of the Proteas team led by Faf du Plessis.

 8.Indian Jr. women’s hockey team clinch Cantor Fitzgerald U21:-

The Indian junior women’s hockey team clinched the Cantor Fitzgerald U21 International 4-Nations title after beating Ireland 1-0 in the final at Dublin, Ireland.The win meant India ended the tournament with an unblemished record.With three goals in four games, Mumtaz Khan finished as the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

9.World Bank retains growth forecast for the Indian economy at 7.5%:-

The World Bank retained its forecast of India’s growth rate at 7.5 per cent for the current financial year.In its Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank also said growth rate is expected to remain the same for the next two fiscals.According to the report, private consumption and investment will benefit from strengthening credit growth amid more accommodative monetary policy, with inflation having fallen below the Reserve Bank of India’s target.
