1.India’s First Solar Cruise Vessel Will Debut In Kerala:-

India’s first solar-powered ferry in 2016, Kerala is gearing up for the launch of the country’s premier solar-powered cruise boat. The initiative comes from the State Water Transport Department (SWTD), whose solar ferry Aditya in the Vaikom-Thavanakadavu route proved to be a success.

The ₹3-crore cruise boat can carry 100 passengers is under construction at a boatyard in Aroor and comes from the stable of the builders of Aditya. It will be rolled out in Alappuzha in December.

The hybrid vessel will be powered by a motor that can source energy from solar panels, battery, and generator. Its battery will have 80 KWh (kilowatt hour) power backup, as compared to 50 KWh backup in Aditya.

2.Bangladesh’s First Iron Ore Mine Discovered In Dinajpur

Iron ore mine discovered at Isabpur village in Dinajpur. This announcement was made by the Geological Survey of Bangladesh.

After the effect of extensive drilling over two months in the area. A 400-foot thick iron layer was found in Bangladesh after the result of the Geological  Survey. Around 1,750 feet beneath the surface stretched over an area of 6-10 square kilometer.

The percentage of iron in the mine around 65. It indicates the high quality of the ore. The other countries like Canada, China, Brazil, Sweden, and Australia have the percentage of iron ore is below the level of 50.

Other minerals such as gold, copper, nickel, and chromium also found at various levels of the mining. The discovery of the iron mine opened up economic prospects for the country. The iron concentration in the magnetite ore is 65 percent.

3.UAE Launches UN-Developed Anti Money Laundering Platform GoAML:-

The United Arab Emirates’ Central Bank in Abu Dhabi at their Financial Intelligence Unit (FILI) introduced a new reporting platform ‘goAML’ (global operations Anti-Money Laundering).

It is developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
Their main aim is to curb organised crimes. It is the first country in the Gulf to launch this platform.

All financial institutions in the IJAE must register on the new platform by June 27, 2019 to avoid penalties. Around 900 entities including, banks, insurance companies and money exchange centres to register on the platform.

It will help FIU to prevent money laundering, financing against terrorism. It was developed by UNODC.

4.Former General Mohamed Ould Ghazouani Won Presidential Election Of Mauritania:-

Mauritania, a country in Northwest Africa conducted election a former general and defense minister, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Union for the Republic (UPR) party won the presidential election.

He won with 52% votes. He succeeds Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. Anti-slavery activist Biram Dah Abeid won second with 18.58% votes. Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubacar biggest Islamist party won third with 17.87% votes.

First time in 60 years Mauritania faced elections. They gained independence (28 November 1960) from France.
5.Saudi Arabia Became The First Arab Country To Get FATF Membership:-

Saudi Arabia became the first Arab country to get membership of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The number of permanent members of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is 39.

The membership admitted into the global money laundering after the Annual General Meeting in Orlando, Florida. FATF celebrated their 30th anniversary of its first meeting. Saudi Arabia received an invitation from FATF in 2015 and they joined as an “observer member’

 6.SBI plans to tap Singapore SME businesses:-

The State Bank of India is planning to expand its market in Singapore by enhancing its relationship across small and medium enterprises (SMEs).The SBI has served the Singapore retail and corporate sectors as a qualified full bank since 2008.It has six branches and offering ATM services under ATM5 network across the island state and two remittance centres.The SBI plans to offer its YONO app, an omnichannel service at the fingertip, to manage a wide range of financial services here.During his visit to Singapore on May 31, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched three Indian apps – BHIM, Rupay and SBI app – at a ‘Business, Innovation and Community Event’.

7.RBI launches CMS for filing online complaints against banks, NBFCs:-

The Reserve Bank of India has launched an application on its website for lodging complaints against banks and NBFCs.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das launched the Complaint Management System (CMS), a software application.

The application system improves transparency by keeping the complainants informed through auto-generated acknowledgements and enabling them to track the status of their complaints and file appeals online against the decisions of the Ombudsmen, where applicable.

He informed that the RBI also plans to introduce a dedicated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system for tracking the status of complaints.

8.India’s junior women’s team adjudged best in Black Forest Cup:-

In Boxing, India’s junior women pugilists clinched seven medals, including five gold, while the team was adjudged the best of the tournament in the Black Forest Cup in Villingen, Schwenningen, Germany.Haryana’s Neha (54kg) and Karnataka’s Anju Devi (50kg) claimed the honours of best boxer and promising player of the tournament. Ten countries including India, Ukraine, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Hungary, Lithuania, Mongolia, Greece, and Poland took part in this tournament.
