1.James Webb Space Telescope Successfully Passed Final Thermal Vacuum Test:-

NASA’s $8.8-billionJames Webb Space Telescope, the world’s largest and most expensive one, has successfully passed final thermal vacuum test, making its parts cleared for use in space.The 6.5-meter diameter telescope has 18 gold-coated mirrors and a tennis court-sized sun-shield to gather light and protect its instruments. The telescope set to launch in 2021. It took 20 years to build.

2.Rajasthan Government Increases Financial Aid Given To Girls Under ‘Aapki Beti’ Scheme:-

Rajasthan government increased the financial assistance given to school girls under the ‘Aapki Beti’ scheme and ex-gratia payment to the families of polling personnel who die during election duty.

About the Aapki Beti scheme

Under the Aapki Beti scheme, girls living under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) and whose mother or father or both have died to get annual financial assistance in the state.Amount sanctioned under Aapki Beti schemeThe amount has been increased to 2,100 from Rs 1,100 for the girls studying in class 1 to 8 and for the girls in class 9 to 12, the financial aid has been increased to Rs 2,500 from Rs 1,500.Similarly, the government has also increased ex-gratia payment to the next of kin of an officer killed on election duty to Rs 20 lakh from Rs 15 lakh.

3.On the eve of World Environment Day, the Central Environment Minister launched the #SelfiewithSapling campaign (SelfieWidSapling):- 

Central Minister for Environment, Shri Prakash Javadekar launched Public Campaign #SelfiewithSapling ( Self-WiseSapling)  in New Delhi . He urged the people to plant saplings and put them on the selfie social media of that time.Mr. Javadekar emphasized that the role of public participation is integral to dealing with the problem of environment. He said that environmental protection is to create mass movement.The Union Minister said that on World Environment Day, he will plant saplings in Kapoor Dev and film actor Jackie Shraff at the Environment Hall of New Delhi.World Environment Day 2019 is a message that governments, industry, community and people come together to explore renewable energy and green technology and improve the quality of air around the world. World Environment Day provides an opportunity for comprehensive thinking about environmental protection and responsible behavior for individuals, enterprises and communities to enhance environmental protection. World Environment Day is the world’s largest event for meaningful environmental work and is celebrated on June 5 every year.World Environment Day 2019 will be hosted with air pollution themes by Air pollution is the biggest threat to the environment on health. Air pollution is a cause of death due to trauma, severe respiratory illness and one-third of lung cancer deaths. Air pollution is the cause of death due to a fourth heart attack. Air pollution is basically changing our climate and its health has an impact.92 percent of the world’s population do not breathe cleanly.Due to air pollution the global economy has a loss of $ 5 trillion per year.Geological ozone pollution will reduce 26 percent of crops by 2030.India has launched National Clean Air Program (NCAP). This is a long-term timed national level program and it is dealing with the increasing pollution problem in the country. NCAP is a comprehensive program for prevention and control of air pollution and it strengthens the air quality monitoring network.The national goal at the national level is to eliminate PM 2.5 and PM10 from 20 percent to 30 percent by 2024. This year’s World Environment Day will focus on 102 cities with poor status of pollution.

4.Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das inaugurates Rs 55 crore Haj House:-

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das inaugurated the Haj House in Ranchi today on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. Inaugurating the 50 crore rupees Haj House, which can accommodate about 1,000 people for offering Namaaz, Mr Das said his government has faith in winning the confidence of all the people.Mr Das said that development is the only solution to every problem and his government is working continuously for development. The Chief Minister said that they have to make a new India and a new Jharkhand together.

5.Sudan’s pro-democracy opposition urges ‘Total Civil Disobedience’:-

Sudan’s protest movement has called for fresh rallies and rejected the military rulers’ election plan after nearly 40 people were killed in what demonstrators called a “bloody massacre” by security forces.Yesterday, protest leaders called on their supporters to take part in “total civil disobedience” to topple the ruling military council following the deadly dispersal Monday of a weeks-long sit-in outside the army headquarters in Khartoum.The Transitional Military Council ousted veteran president Omar al-Bashir in April after months of protests against his authoritarian rule and had agreed a three-year transition period to a civilian administration. But army ruler General Abel Fattah al-Burhan said the plan had been ditched and an election would take place under regional and international supervision.

6.Organisation Of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit Held At Mecca:-

The 14th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia was hosted by Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.The official agenda of the meeting was to address current issues in the Muslim world and recent developments in a number of OIC member states.

Also, amid soaring tension between Iran and the US and its Gulf allies the OIC summit discussed the regional security issues. The Mecca summit supported Palestinians and backed Saudis in Iran standoffOIC holds an Islamic Summit once every three years at which heads of state discuss ways to achieve OIC’s charter’s objectives and make policy decisions that concern its member states. OIC has permanent delegations to the UN and the European Union (EU)

 7.Europes Highest Volcano Mount Etna Erupted:-

Europe’s Highest Volcano Mount Etna, in southern Italy, erupted with burst into life, spewed ash, fire, and spitting molten lava high into the sky.This is 2019’s first eruption as the volcano on the island of Sicily previously erupted in December 2018.The lava came from two eruptive fissures on northeastern and south-southeastern sides of Mount Etna’s New Southeast Crater.The eruption did not affect the nearby residential areas or for flights at the closest airport at Catania.

8.Indian Jr. women’s hockey team clinch Cantor Fitzgerald U21:-

The Indian junior women’s hockey team clinched the Cantor Fitzgerald U21 International 4-Nations title after beating Ireland 1-0 in the final at Dublin, Ireland yesterday. The win meant India ended the tournament with an unblemished record. With three goals in four games, Mumtaz Khan finished as the highest goal scorer of the tournament.
