Mohun Bagan  has lifted the Durand Cup 2023 trophy by defeating East Bengal  1-0  at the  Salt  Lake Stadium  in  Kolkata  yesterday  . Mohun Bagan  has won the 132nd Durand Cup for the first time in 23 years  . With this win, Mohun Bagan   became the first team in the history of SG Durand Cup to win 17 titles . East Bengal is the second most successful team in the Durand Cup with 16 titles to its name. Earlier, Mohun Bagan had made it to the Durand Cup final in 2004, 2009 and 2019 but failed to register a win.

2 ‘Gujarat Manifesto’ released outlining the outcome of the first WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit 2023

The World Health Organization (WHO)  has referred to the ” Gujarat Declaration ” as the first  WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit 2023. Result document has been released. The declaration reaffirmed global commitments to indigenous knowledge, biodiversity and traditional, complementary and integrative medicine. WHO underscores that the use of rigorous scientific methods is needed to better understand, assess and, where appropriate, apply more holistic, context-specific, complex and personalized approaches to the health and well-being of all. The Gujarat Declaration reiterated that India, as host of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, will be important in enhancing WHO’s capabilities to support Member States and stakeholders in advancing the summit work agenda and other relevant priorities. 3 Indian Heritage App and e-Permission Portal launched in “Adopt a Heritage 2.0 Programme” of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)

There are 3696 monuments  under the protection of  the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)  , which extends across the country. These monuments not only showcase the rich cultural heritage of India but also play an important role in promoting economic development. To maintain the rich cultural heritage, there is a need for enhancement of facilities at heritage sites from time to time. With this objective and to further enhance the visitor experience, ASI  launched  “ Adopt a Heritage 2.0 ” program on 4 September 2023 at Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA, New Delhi . Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and North Eastern Region Development  Shri G. Kishan Reddy  participated in the launch program virtually. He came ahead of all the institutions. Inheritance as well as development’‘, urged to help in better maintenance and rejuvenation of India’s rich cultural heritage. Under this programme, ASI   invites corporate stakeholders to enhance facilities at the monuments using their CSR funds . This program   is a revamped version of the previous scheme launched  in 2017 and implemented under the AMASR Act 1958.  clearly defines the features required for various monuments as perStakeholders can apply for specific facilities at a monument or memorial through a dedicated web portal at the URL www.indianheritage.gov.in.

4 Nobel laureates supported Muhammad Yunus

More than 100 Nobel laureates and global celebrities,  including  Barack Obama  and  Hillary Clinton,  met   Bangladeshi  Prime  Minister  Sheikh Hasina economist Muhammad Yunus. Called to stop legal proceedings against. 5 Delhi High Court allows stem cell therapy for autism

The Delhi High Court has approved  stem  cell therapy  for two children with  autism spectrum disorder (ASD)  , despite a recommendation against its use by  the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB)  of  the National Medical Commission (NMC). Allowed to continue. The court’s decision addresses the immediate situation but also raises questions about the potential benefits and risks of using stem cell therapy for ASD. Stem cells, with their regenerative properties, are promising in medicine, but their application remains experimental. While some experts believe that stem cell therapy can regulate the immune system and neural connectivity in ASD cases, the EMRB recommendation highlights the lack of sufficient evidence and established protocols. The court’s decision does not provide a general recognition for stem cell therapy in ASD, but emphasizes that the NMC can further assess the matter.

6 Proposed BNSS 2023: Change in mercy petitions in death row cases introduced

The Indian Civil Code (BNSS) 2023 , which aims to   replace  the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) ,  introduces amendments to the mercy petition process in death penalty cases. These changes include important aspects such as legality, time limit and the gap between rejection and execution. Unlike the earlier guidelines, the BNSS provision does not require the President to engage with the advice of the Council of Ministers in death penalty cases. The provision allows convicts to file mercy petition before the President or the Governor of the state within 30 days for certain reasons. The Central Government reviews these petitions and makes recommendations to the President within 60 days. However, the BNSS has not imposed any time frame for the President’s decision, raising concerns.

8 Ministry of Education launches partnership with META to provide digital and marketing skills to students, teachers and entrepreneurs

Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship  Shri Dharmendra Pradhan  launched  the 3-year  partnership “ Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a Generation of Students, Teachers and Entrepreneurs ” between  the Ministry of EducationSkill Development and Entrepreneurship  and  META   in  New Delhi . 3 Letters of Intent (LOI) were exchanged between META and NIESBUD, AICTE and CBSE.

9 Prime Minister Skilled and Skilled Beneficiaries (PM-Daksh) Scheme

Pradhan Mantri Dakshina and Kushta Samman Beneficiaries (PM-Daksh) Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme launched during  the year 2020-21 . The main objective of the scheme  is to enhance the capacity level of the target groups to enable them to earn livelihood both through self-employment and wage employment  for their socio-economic development. , The target groups under this scheme are Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes (EBCs), Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs), Scavengers including rag pickers. The age criteria of this scheme has been kept at 18-45 years and no income limit has been fixed for the income criteria, waste pickers and Vimukt, Scheduled Castes including DNT, Safai Karamcharis. For OBC the annual family income should be less than Rs.3 lakh and for EBC (Economically Backward Classes) the annual family income should be less than Rs.1 lakh. During the last three years of implementation of PM-Daksh scheme from 2020-21 to 2022-23, a total of 107156 beneficiaries have been trained and an amount of Rs 213.83 crore has been spent on this scheme.

10 Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan-3 went into sleep mode after successfully completing the assigned mission

Indian Space Research Organization  ‘s  Vikram lander  of  Chandrayaan-3  has now gone into sleep mode after completing the important work of the mission on the lunar surface. ISRO said that on command, the Vikram lander fired the engines, raised itself about 40 cm as expected and landed safely. 30- 40 cm apart. Vikram Lander has overshot its target and hence its payloads have now been jettisoned. ISRO said on social media that Vikram Lander was set in sleep mode. The HOP test  could also help manned missions as it   confirmed ISRO’s ability to once again ‘kick-start’ the lander a few days after touching the lunar surface. ISRO scientists said that  the Pragyan rover After the landing of the Vikram lander carrying the ISRO on the Moon, various experiments were conducted of which the hop test was the latest one.

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is managed by the IIMC Society. IIMC Society is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1867. The institute is headquartered in New Delhi and has five regional campuses. IIMC is India’s premier media school. It is operated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. The objective of IIMC is to act as a center for training, study and research on mass communication in India.

12 G-20 Technical Workshop on Climate Resilient Agriculture begins in Hyderabad, Telangana

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,  Ms Shobha Karandlaje  inaugurated   the three-day G-20 Technical Workshop on Climate Resilient Agriculture  in Shamshad,  Hyderabad . More than 100 representatives of G-20 countries and invited countries are participating in this program. The meeting will discuss various issues of agricultural research, mainly climate change and other technologies and methods for sustainable development of agriculture in the global context. The dignitaries will also share the country’s achievements and ongoing efforts to address the challenges of agriculture.

14 Second edition of  Naval Commanders’ Conference begins in New Delhi

Second Naval Commanders Conference   of  the year 2023 New Delhi Starting in. In this supreme conference held twice a year, Naval Commanders will consider important policy decisions. 17 Uday Kotak resigns as MD and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank

Uday Kotak  has  formally resigned from his position as  the Managing Director and Chief Executive  Officer of  Kotak Mahindra Bank   , the change   will be effective from 1st September 2023 . The bank informed the exchanges about this significant development on September 2, marking the end of an era in Indian banking. However, Mr. Kotak   will continue to play a key role within the organization as a non-executive director until his term ends on December 31, 2023 . Deepak Gupta, joint managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank,   will take over as managing director and CEO on an interim basis . The change is subject to approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the members of the bank.

18 Telangana will get India’s first Gorilla Glass manufacturing facility

Corning Inc.   will set up  its Gorilla Glass manufacturing facility  in  Telangana , a first of its kind investment in the country  . The proposed manufacturing facility   will manufacture cover glasses for market leaders in the smartphone industry . The project is all set to become a reality with a proposed investment of Rs 934 crore. In addition, it promises to generate employment opportunities for over 800 persons, thereby contributing significantly to the local economy. 19 Bajaj Auto subsidiary gets approval for NBFC business

Bajaj Auto Consumer Finance  , a subsidiary of  Bajaj Auto,  has received regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  to launch   its  non-banking financial institution (NBFC) operations. This significant development allows the company to expand its financial services without accepting public deposits. The registration certificate from RBI allowing Bajaj Auto Consumer Finance to operate as an NBFC was issued on August 31, 2023 and was a significant moment for the company.

President  Draupadi Murmu  unveiled  a 12-feet tall statue  of  Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi  and ‘ Gandhi Vatika ‘  at Gandhi Darshan near  Rajghat  in  New Delhi . To improve the experience of visitors, a selfie point has been set up within Gandhi Vatika. Gandhi Vatika also has several statues of Mahatma Gandhi depicting him in various postures. On this occasion, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi  VK Saxena  and Vice President of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Committee Vijay were also present.
