1. PM addresses One World TB Summit

3. North Korea claims underwater drone test
North Korea claims to have tested an underwater drone capable of carrying nuclear weapons . This drone can create radioactive tsunami . A report by Korea’s official Central News Agency- KCNA said that this drone was tested from 21 to 23 March. The report claimed that the drone remained under water for more than 59 hours in the country’s eastern coastal area before the test. KCNA reports that this nuclear weapon has been developed to create a super-scale radioactive tsunami through underwater detonation to destroy naval striker groups and major operational ports of the enemy. The weapon has been operational since 2012 and over 50 tests have been conducted in the last two years.
4. US-Canada agreement on removal of refugees from unauthorized border
An agreement has been reached between the US and Canada on the removal of refugees from the unauthorized border . US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau can announce this agreement. This would allow authorities on both sides of the border to turn back refugees going in either direction. The move is part of efforts to limit migrant movement on Roxham Road, an unauthorized crossing between New York state and Quebec province. Through this agreement, an amendment has been made to the 2004 agreement between the two countries, through which migrants are required to take refuge in the first safe country America or Canada.

6. Urban Climate Film Festival begins, 11 films from nine countries will be screened
The National Institute of Urban Affairs is organizing the first Urban Climate Film Festival under the U-20 Sampark Samaroh . 7. Subsidy of Ujjwala scheme extended for one year
In a major relief, the government has approved subsidy on the cost of domestic cooking gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana . The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given a subsidy of Rs 200 till filling 12 cylinders of 14 kg 200 grams per year. has been approved. The total expenditure on this in the financial year 2022-23 will be Rs 6,100 crore and in the financial year 2023-24 it will be Rs 7,000 crore. The subsidy will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. Public sector oil marketing companies – Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited are already giving this subsidy from May 22, 2022. As on March 1, 2023, the total number of beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is nine crore 59 lakh. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched in May 2016 with the objective of providing LPG gas to rural areas and to the underprivileged. Under this, free LPG connections are provided to poor women.

13. MoU signed between Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defense
Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare/ECHS , Ministry of Defense (ECHS/DoSW) signed a five year MoU for integration of Ayurveda in ECHS Polyclinics as OPD service . These will be set up in 10 polyclinics at Ambala, Mysore, Ranchi, Nagpur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Meerut, Danapur, and Alleppey (Alappuzha). Ayurveda Kendras are already present in 37 Cantonment Hospitals, AFMCK 12 Military Hospitals and AH R&R, Ayurveda OPD at AF Hospital Hindon and five ECHS Polyclinics.
14. Defense Ministry signs contract with BEL for procurement of two Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems ‘Project Himshakti’ worth Rs 3,000 crore

15. Government approves setting up of Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka
The Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced the approval to set up a Rs 180 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Bengaluru . The cluster, to be set up in the Kotur-Balur industrial area in Dharwad, Karnataka under the EMC 2.0 plan, is expected to generate over 18,000 jobs. Also, it is likely to receive investments of over Rs 1,500 crore soon. Nine companies including start-ups have already committed an investment of Rs 340 crore with an employment potential of 2,500 people.
