Prime Minister  Narendra Modi   will dedicate the newly constructed Parliament House to the nation  on  28 May . Lok Sabha Speaker  Om Birla  met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invited him to inaugurate the new Parliament House. The construction work of the new Parliament House is now complete and the new building is a symbol of the spirit of self-reliant India. The present Parliament House  was completed in 1927, which is now going to be almost a hundred years old. Lack of space was being felt in this building as per the present requirements. There was also a lack of comfortable seating arrangements for the MPs in both the Houses, which was affecting the efficiency of the members. Keeping this in mind, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha passed resolutions urging the government to construct a new building for the Parliament. On December 10, 2020,  the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the new building of Parliament.

2 PM inaugurates International Museum Expo 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  inaugurated   the International Museum Expo 2023  at  Pragati Maidan  in  New Delhi . On this occasion, the Prime Minister   greeted the people on the occasion of 47th International Museum Day . The International Museum Expo has been organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 47th International Museum Day. The theme of this expo   is – Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing . The Prime Minister released the mascot of the International Museum Expo, the graphic novel – A Day at the Museum, the Directory of the Indian Museum, the Pocket Map of Duty Path and the Museum Card. The mascot of the International Museum Expo  is a contemporary version of the Dancing Girl made of wood in the Chennapatnam art style. During the event, Shri Modi also released a virtual walkthrough of the upcoming National Museum of North and South Blocks. The museum will showcase the country’s rich civilizational culture, historical events, thoughts and achievements of great personalities.

3 PM lays foundation stones and dedicates several rail projects in Odisha worth over Rs 8,000 crore

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  laid   the foundation stone and inaugurated rail projects  worth more than  Rs.8000 crore  in  Odisha through video conferencing. During this, Shri Modi flagged off  the Vande Bharat Express train between Puri and Howrah. Sent off to The train will pass through Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore districts in Odisha and Mednipur and Purba districts in West Bengal covering a distance of over 500 kms. This train will provide fast, comfortable and convenient travel to the passengers and will provide smooth travel experience to the passengers. It will boost tourism and economic development. This train will run regularly from May 20. This Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Puri and Cuttack railway stations. 4 India launches Operation Karuna to help people of Myanmar affected by Cyclone Mokha

India has   launched Operation Karuna  to help the people of  Myanmar  affected by  Cyclone Mokha . Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told that under Operation Karuna, three ships of the Indian Navy reached Yangon with relief material. He told that the fourth ship would arrive tomorrow. These ships carry emergency food supplies, tents, essential medicines, water pumps, portable generators, clothing, and hygiene items.

Congress  leader  Siddaramaiah   will be  the next  Chief Minister of Karnataka . Addressing the media in New Delhi, Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal told that Karnataka Congress President  D.K. Shivakumar  will serve as  the sole  Deputy Chief Minister . Mr. Venugopal also said that Shivakumar would continue to be the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee till the parliamentary elections. The swearing-in ceremony of some MLAs as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister and Minister has been scheduled for Saturday.

6 India and Nepal signed MoUs related to two projects of community development in Nepal

 India and Nepal have signed MoUs on  two community development projects  in  Nepal .  These projects worth eight crore three lakh thirty thousand Nepali rupees are related to health care and education sector. For this, grant-in-aid will be given from India. The Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal signed this MoU. The purpose of construction of these two projects is to provide better health care and education facilities to the local community and to improve the standard of living of the people in Nepal. Malagiri Shanti Yogashram in Ramechhap district and Kedar Jyotipunj multi-complex will be constructed in Doti district.

7 The Supreme Court upheld the law relating to Jallikattu sport in Tamil Nadu

The Supreme Court  has   upheld the Tamil Nadu government  ‘s  law relating to Jallikattu sport . Judge K. A five-judge constitutional bench headed by Justice M. Joseph   also upheld the Maharashtra law  relating to  bullock cart races . Jallikattu sport is organized in Tamil Nadu during the Pongal festival. The bench comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi, Aniruddha Bose, Hrishikesh Roy and C. T. Ravi Kumar gave its verdict on petitions challenging Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra laws allowing Jallikattu and bullock cart races.

8 India and EU agree to coordinate their policies in strategic semiconductor

India and the European Union   will adjust their policies for  strategic semiconductors  with an aim to conclude an MoU by  September 2023 .  According to a joint statement issued after the first meeting of the India-EU Business and Technology Council  held in  Brussels , the two sides will work towards bridging the digital skills gap. Both sides will work to explore mutual recognition of certifications and progress made on promotion of skilled professionals and exchange of talent. Both sides will also promote cooperation on information technology and telecommunications standardization, with a focus on promoting interoperable standards. Foreign Minister  Dr. S. Jaishankar , Union Minister of Commerce and Industry  Piyush Goyal And Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology  Rajeev Chandrasekhar  visited Brussels to co-chair the first ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council on 16th of this month.

9 Amazon Web Services to invest over Rs 1 lakh crore in India by 2030

Amazon Web Services  has   announced its plan to invest  $12.7 billion (over Rs 1 lakh crore) in cloud infrastructure  in India by 2030 . In a statement, Amazon Web Services said that planned investments in data center infrastructure in India will support an estimated average of one lakh 31 thousand seven hundred full-time equivalent jobs in Indian business each year. The cloud platform provides an opportunity for more than two hundred services including storage, robotics and artificial intelligence. Earlier this month, Cisco Systems announced that it would start manufacturing in India to diversify its global supply chain. At the same time, Apple Inc supplier Foxconn will invest $500 million to set up its business in Telangana.

10 Arjun Ram Meghwal has been made the new Law Minister, Kiren Rijiju has been given the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture,   has been given the charge of Minister of Law and Justice with independent charge  in addition to his existing ministry  .  Mr. Meghwal will serve as Law Minister in place of Union Minister  Kiren Rijiju . According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release, Shri Rijiju will now   take charge of Earth Sciences . President Draupadi Murmu has changed the departments on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Professor SP Singh Baghel  has   been appointed as the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare . Earlier, Professor Baghel was holding the charge of Minister of State for Law and Justice.

11 South Korea conducts Soaring Eagle Exercise

The South Korean Air Force  recently  conducted the Soaring Eagle exercise. Launched, a massive training program aimed at enhancing its combat capabilities and ensuring the country’s defence. The exercise comes amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula following North Korea’s alleged launch of a solid-fuelled intercontinental ballistic missile. The Soaring Eagle exercise began at the Cheongju air base, 112 kilometers south of Seoul. More than 160 personnel and around 60 warplanes, including F-35A stealth fighters, F-15Ks, KF-16s and KC-330 tanker transport aircraft, were mobilized for the exercise. During the Soaring Eagle exercise, various scenarios will be simulated to test the preparedness and response capabilities of the South Korean Air Force. These include infiltration by enemy special forces, infiltration by aircraft, and cruise missile launches.

12 UK to give Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine

In a significant step,  the United Kingdom  has   agreed to provide  long-range  Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine  to bolster its defense capabilities against  Russian forces. The provision of these missiles is part of continued military aid by Western allies to Ukraine, which has been facing aggression from Russia since February 2022. Storm Shadow cruise missiles are manufactured by MBDA Missile Systems and these long-range missiles have a range of over 250 km. They are designed for deep-strike missions and can target high-value assets including airbases, radar installations, communication hubs and port facilities.

13 Ludovit Odor appointed acting prime minister of Slovakia

Ludovit Odor,  former   Deputy Governor of  the National Bank  of  Slovakia  , has been appointed as the new Acting Prime Minister of Slovakia .  Following the resignation of  former caretaker Prime Minister  Eduard Heger on 7 May , Slovak President Zuzana Caputova  entrusted Odor with the responsibility of leading the country until mid-term elections in September.

14 Brazil confirms first cases of avian flu in wild birds

Brazil , known as the world’s leading  chicken exporter  , recently reported  highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in wild birds. cases have been confirmed. According to the Brazilian government, two cases have been detected in wild birds and the import of Brazilian poultry products should not be banned according to World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) guidelines. Avian influenza virus can kill entire flocks of birds and damage the agricultural sector. Brazil’s chicken exports rose 27% last year to $9.76 billion as other countries grappled with a global outbreak of the virus, yet the South American country had so far reported no cases. The Brazilian government confirmed the detection of the H5N1 subtype of the influenza virus on two birds that migrated off the coast of Brazil’s southeastern state of Espirito Santo. The main poultry-producing states of Brazil are in the far south and the mid-west.

Uttar Pradesh  has   got GI tag for three  more  One District One Product (ODOP)  crafts  – Mainpuri Tarkashi, Mahoba Gaura stone craft, and Sambhal horn craft . After this, now  Uttar Pradesh is now on the second number in the list of goods with maximum GI tag. has come. Tarkashi is a technique of inlaying brass, copper or silver wire into wood. This is a unique and artistic work of Mainpuri district. It is used to decorate jewelry boxes, nameplates and other items. Mahoba is known all over the country for its Gaura stone craft. Gaura Stone Craft is made of bright white colored stone which is mainly found in this region. The texture of Gaura stone is soft. It is cut into several pieces which are used to make different craft items which are used for decoration. Horn-bone handicraft products made in Sambhal are very popular. The raw material used to make these craft items is obtained from dead animals. The horn and bone products of Sambhal are known all over the world. Tamil Nadu has the maximum number of GI-tagged  goods at 55. Whereas UP and Karnataka have 48 and 46 GI products  . However, UP ranks first in terms of GI-tagged handicrafts, with 36 crafts to its credit.

16 Gauri’ honored with ‘Best Long Documentary Award’ at South Asian Film Festival of Montreal 2023

The documentary ‘ Gauri ‘   directed by Kavita Lankesh has received the ‘ Best Long Documentary Award ‘  at the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal 2023 .  The film is about journalist and activist  Gauri Lankesh  who  was murdered in 2017 and the current political crisis in India.

17 Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated training program on Legislative Drafting in New Delhi

Home Minister  Amit Shah  inaugurated   a training program on legislative drafting  in  New Delhi . The objective of the program is to create a better understanding of the principles and practices of legislative drafting among the officers of Parliament, State Legislatures, various Ministries, Statutory Bodies and other Government Departments. During his address, Shri Shah highlighted the efforts of the government to repeal about two thousand irrelevant laws since 2015. He mentioned that legislative drafting is not only a science or an art but also a skill which must be applied with a sense of clarity and transparency.

18 Laos to host 18th ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024

Laos   is gearing up to host  the annual ASEAN Tourism Forum  in  January 2024 , which  will take place in Vientiane , the country’s capital. The theme of the forum is “ Quality and Responsible Tourism — Sustaining ASEAN Future ”, which focuses on sustainable and responsible tourism practices. The Forum will include a tourism exhibition and is expected to promote tourism in Laos while encouraging service improvements in related businesses. The Lao news agency quoted Suanesvan Vignaket, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, as saying that the event would promote Laos as a nature-based tourism destination.

19 National Medical Commission made unique ID card mandatory for doctors

 Doctors will now need a  Unique Identification Number (UID) to be able to practice medicine in the country  , according to new rules by  the National Medical Commission (NMC). Have to get The UID will be generated centrally by the NMC Ethics Board thus providing the doctor with registration in NMR and eligibility to practice medicine in India. There will be a common National Medical Register for all registered medical practitioners in the country. It will be maintained by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) under the NMC. This register will contain all entries of registered medical practitioners from all state registers maintained by various state medical councils and will contain all relevant information about the medical practitioner. In the new notification titled ‘Registration of Medical Practitioners and Practice Medicine License Regulations, 2023’ Provided that the license to practice medicine issued to a registered medical practitioner shall be valid for a period of five years, After which the doctor will have to renew the licensing by applying to the State Medical Council. The application for renewal of license can be made before three months of the expiry of the validity of the licence.

20 Pasang Dawa Sherpa became the second person to climb Everest 26 times

Pasang Dawa Sherpa also known as  Pa Dawa , successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 26th time ,  equaling the record set by   another Nepalese guide,  Kami Rita . According to the Himalayan Database  , which records mountaineering achievements in the Himalayas of Nepal, Pa Dawa had previously climbed Everest 25 times, including two in 2022. Since his initial successful ascent in 1998, Dawa has made the trip almost every year in a row. Kami Rita , leading a team from the United States,  is currently on a mission to surpass her own record by climbing Mount Everest for the 27th time . This means that the Pasang Dawa record could potentially be broken within the next few days.
