The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned two crore 26 lakh rupees for various activities of Medaram Jatara 2022 festival . Medaram Jatara festival is the second largest fair in India after Kumbh Mela . The Koya , the second largest tribal community of Telangana , celebrates this festival for four days. This year it is being celebrated from 16 February to 19 February . Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the government has declared that tribal culture and heritage will be the center of attraction in 2022. Jatara is organized to pay reverence to the goddesses Samakka and Saralamma . this festival Held once in two years in the month of February . The continuous assistance being provided by the Ministry to this event is aimed at increasing goodwill among the tribal communities and common people of Telangana.

2.Assam becomes first state in the country to lift Kovid restrictions

The Assam government has lifted restrictions related to Kovid . Assam has become the first state in the country to lift the Covid restrictions . According to the order of the state government, the ban on the entry of people in public places without vaccination will remain in force except in hospitals. According to the Assam government, people will have to bring a vaccination certificate with them. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the mandatory COVID testing has been removed from airports, railway stations and hospitals from today. He said that all restrictions including night curfew, public gatherings have been lifted. However, the Chief Minister has urged people to wear masks and follow other COVID guidelines.

Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar 16 February, 2022 at 11:00 AM Scheme ‘SEED’ for Economic Empowerment of DNTs for the Welfare of Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhiwill launch. Denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes are the most neglected, marginalized and economically and socially disadvantaged communities. Most of them have been living destitute lives for generations and are still doing so with an uncertain and bleak future. Denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes have somehow escaped the attention of our developmental framework, thereby depriving these tribes of access to assistance like the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. The scheme will consist of the following four components with an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore to be spent over a period of 5 years from the financial year 2021-22 to 2025-26.

  1. To provide good quality coaching for DNT/NT/SNT candidates so that they can appear in competitive exams
  2. Providing health insurance to DNT/NT/SNT communities
  3. Facilitate livelihood initiatives at the community level to create and strengthen small clusters of DNT/NT/SNT community institutions
  4. Providing financial assistance for construction of houses for members of DNT/NT/SNT communities

4.Plans to develop 22 expressways, 23 major infrastructure projects and 35 multi-modal logistics parks under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan

There are plans to develop 22 expressways, 23 major infrastructure projects and 35 multi-modal logistics parks under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways . Gati Shakti is a digital platform developed by 16 Ministries including Railways and Roads for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects of industrial and economic sector.connects together. Some of the major expressways and corridors under construction include Delhi – Mumbai Expressway, Ahmedabad – Dholera Expressway, Delhi – Amritsar – Katra Expressway and Bengaluru – Chennai Expressway. Some of the major infrastructure projects under construction include the construction of the Zojila Tunnel in Ladakh, roads connecting Krishnapatnam port in Andhra Pradesh and two-laning of the Lalpul-Manmao road in Arunachal Pradesh.

5.Approval of the formation of a Secretariat for this organization to implement all policy decisions and arrangements for the G-20 countries under the chairmanship of India

The Union Cabinet approved the establishment of the G-20 Secretariat and its reporting structures. India will chair the G-20 grouping from 1st December to 30th November 2023 this year . In the year 2023, the G-20 summit will also be organized in India. The G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in global economic governance. The G20 Secretariat is being set up under India’s chairmanship to handle the tasks related to knowledge, material, technical, media, security and logistic aspects. It will be conducted by officials and employees of the Ministries of External Affairs and Finance and other relevant Ministries, Departments and experts. The Secretariat will function till February 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the World Sustainable Development Summit , the Energy and Resources Institute – TERI , via video conference . The Summit is TERI’s annual flagship event and the theme for this year is ‘ Towards a Resilient Planet: Ensuring a Sustainable and Equitable Future ‘. The summit will have wide-ranging discussions on issues such as climate change, sustainable production, transition to energy, common problems of the world and security. President of the Dominican Republic , Louis Ebinadere , President of Guyana Dr. Irfan Ali and the United Nations in the three-day summitDeputy General Secretary Amina J. Mohamed , several heads of intergovernmental organizations, ministers, envoys from more than a dozen countries and representatives of 120 countries will participate.

7.Eighth Session of India-Italy Foreign Office Consultations held in Rome

The 8th session of the India-Italy Foreign Office Consultations was held in Rome , Italy. The Indian delegation was led by Reenat Sandhu , Secretary-in-Charge of Western Countries in the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Italian delegation was led by Luca Sabatucci , Director General, Global Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs . The last consultation meeting was held in New Delhi in 2019. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations on political, trade and economic, defence, science and technology, energy, health, diplomatic relations and cultural matters. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the rapid progress in mutual relations. Both sides agreed to hold the next meeting at a convenient date in Delhi .

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar ‘s three-day visit to the Philippines has come to an end. This was Dr Jaishankar’s first visit to the Philippines as External Affairs Minister. During the visit, Dr Jaishankar met the Foreign Minister of the Philippines, Teodoro L. Had a bilateral meeting with Loxin Jr. The two Ministers reviewed the progress in mutual relations since the meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation held virtually in November 2020. The meeting of the Commission was held in November 2020 co-chaired by Dr. Jaishankar and Mr. Teodoro. Both sides agreed to further work towards strengthening partnership in defense and maritime security, including counter-terrorism and defense capabilities, as well as military training and capacity building.

Mindtree co-founders Subroto Bagchi and NS Parthasarathy will donate Rs 425 crore to the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru . With this amount a postgraduate medical college and 800-bed state-of-the-art hospitalwill be constructed. Indian Institute of Science Director Govindan Rangarajan said the postgraduate medical college and hospital on the campus will integrate MD and PhD programs to nurture the new generation of medical scientists. The students will also be trained simultaneously in the science and engineering laboratories of the hospital and the research institute. The proposed Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital will be a non-profit, state-of-the-art hospital. It will have several specialties like nephrology, urology, dermatology and plastic surgery, organ transplant, robotic surgery and ophthalmology. The director of the institute said that the donation of Rs 425 crore is the highest ever private donation received by the institute.

The 4th India-Australia Energy Dialogue was held on February 15, 2022. From the Indian side, the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R.K. Singh and the Minister of Energy and Emissions Reduction, Mr. Angus Taylor , co-chaired the dialogue on behalf of the Australian side . The main topic of discussion in this dialogue was the change in the field of energy and the Energy Ministers of both the countries focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, storage, EV, important minerals, mining etc. in the energy sector going on in their respective countries. Various activities related to change were discussed in detail. Climate funding was also highlighted by India to meet the goals of developing countries for energy transition.

16.Visit of Commander of Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO) to India

Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsin Al Rahabi , Commander (CRNO) of the Royal Navy of Oman is on a goodwill visit to India . His visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties with the Indian Navy and explore new possibilities of defense cooperation with India . The CRNO began its journey by paying tribute at the National War Memorial. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari KumarHe was welcomed on the grand lawns of South Block and CRNO was given a guard of honor by 50 soldiers. The two Navy Chiefs held discussions to explore the possibility of further enhancing cooperation between the navies. The maiden visit of the current CRNO to India reflects the growing cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman. This includes operational interactions, training and exchange of subject experts. Both the navies have been participating in the Naseem Al Bahr maritime exercise held once in two years since 1993 . The exercise was last held in Goa in 2020 and its next edition is scheduled for later this year. At the same time, before this, INS Sudarshini had launched Muscat in December 2021.and joined the sea voyage of RNO (Royal Navy of Oman) to give seafaring experience to the trainees.

Israel has become the first country to allow drone flights in civilian airspace . The Hermes Starliner unmanned system was issued certification by the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority and was manufactured and developed by the Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems . The UAV will be used for agriculture, environment, public welfare, economic activities and benefit against crime. For safety reasons, international aviation regulations prohibit uncertified aircraft from flying over civilian airspace, limiting the operation of UAVs to isolated airspace.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir , Manoj Sinha has launched a QR code-based mechanism for authentication and labeling of handmade carpets of the Union Territory.is introduced. With the QR-based application, which is the first of its kind in the country, customers can check and verify the authenticity of carpets produced in Jammu and Kashmir and other necessary details, read an official statement from the administration. Manoj Sinha also felicitated the handicrafts and handloom award winners of UT. J&K handicrafts are the repository of India’s creative traditions which are serving as cultural expression. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has launched Export Promotion Scheme. Under this scheme, eligible exporters registered with the Department of Handicrafts and Handlooms will be provided incentives for reimbursement of 10 per cent of the total quantity of GI certified handicrafts and handloom products exported to any country, subject to a maximum of Rs 5 crore.

22.Jio partners with SES for satellite based broadband service

Reliance Jio has tied up with Luxembourg – based satellite and telecommunications service provider SES to provide satellite-based broadband communication services in India . Under the agreement, Jio Platforms has formed a joint venture with SES, named Jio Space Technology Ltd. The joint venture will provide next generation scalable and affordable broadband services in India, leveraging satellite technology. Jio Platforms Limited will hold 51 per cent and SES will hold 49 per cent equity stake in the joint venture. The total value of the contract is approximately $100 million.

23.CBI unearths ABG Shipyard’s biggest bank fraud of Rs 22,842 crore in India

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case of alleged financial fraud of Rs 22,842 crore on ABG Shipyard . ABG Shipyard is the flagship unit of ABG Group . It duped Rs 22,842 crore from a consortium of 28 banks and financial institutionsHuh. This is the biggest bank fraud case ever registered by the CBI. The matter pertains to funds received and misused during the period 2012-17. The then CMD of ABG Shipyard Rishi Agarwal has been named in the FIR. The consortium was led by ICICI Bank. Out of this, ICICI Bank owes Rs 7,089 crore, IDBI Bank Rs 3,639 crore, State Bank Rs 2,925 crore, Bank of Baroda Rs 1,614 crore and Punjab National Bank Rs 1,244 crore on ABG Shipyard. The funds given by these banks were used by the officials of ABG Shipyard for other purposes for which they were given and they were engaged in misappropriation of funds, misappropriation and criminal breach of trust. This has been revealed in a report submitted by M/s Ernst & Young LP.
