1.Steel Ministry issues sports policy for its PSUs :-

Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birendra Singh today released Sports Policy for the Central Public Sector Undertakings under the Ministry here. Through this policy, a framework can be prepared for promotion of sports in public undertakings under the Ministry of Steel.

Shri Choudhary said on this occasion that sports are the identities of economic development and strength of the country. Public undertakings under the Ministry will prepare medal winners for future Olympic Games.He said that in line with the new policy, these enterprises will find structural and financial help and training and coaching by finding sports talent.

 

2.Nitin Gadkari will sign a memorandum of understanding with Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi for the construction of multi-purpose Lakhwad project on Yamuna near Dehradun :-

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, Mrs. Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan, for the construction of Lakhwad Multipurpose Project worth Rs. 3966.51 crores in the area of ​​Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Protection and Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, in the Upper Yamuna Basin area. , Shri Trivedendra Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand, Shri Manohar Lal of Haryana, Sh. Himachal Pradesh Ri Jairam Thakur and will sign a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi with Mr Kejriwal Delhi.

Under Lakhwad project, a 204 meter high concrete dam on Yamuna river is to be built near Lohari village of Dehradun district in Uttarakhand. The water storage capacity of the dam will be 330.66 MCM. This will allow 33,780 hectares of land to be irrigated. Apart from this, 78.83 MCM of water will be provided for domestic and industrial use and drinking in six states of Yamuna basin area. The project will produce 300 MW of electricity. The project will be undertaken by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited.

 

3.Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan launches online portal for open access to GAIL pipeline :-

Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan released an online portal today to give consumers the smooth, effective, transparent and open facility of gas transmission from GAIL pipelines.

On the occasion of releasing the portal, Mr. Pradhan said that this portal will pave the way for a transparent and market friendly gas business system in the country.

The Petroleum Minister said that the new portal will help new people coming to the field of gas transmission to utilize GAIL’s existing infrastructure for supply of gas efficiently at low cost. He said that this portal will play a historic role in expanding the marketing of gas through digital medium.

This online portal www.gailonline, com is the first portal of its kind in the country’s gas field. Through this, gas consumers are being given the facility of booking gas transmission online by pipeline capacity. It will work on the basis of first come, first serve basis.

 

4.India Kenya Joint Business Committee meeting held in Nairobi :-

The eighth meeting of the India-Kenya Joint Trade Committee is held in Kenya from 22 to 25 August. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu and the Minister of Industry and Cooperation of the Government of Kenya, Mr. Peter Munya, co-chaired the meeting.

India’s contribution in the implementation of Kenya’s Big Four Agenda was discussed prominently in the discussions during the meetings. Food security in the agenda , affordable housing , universal health care and manufacturing , bilateral trade expansion and diversification , international solar Kenya’s readiness to join the alliance , power transmission in more than USD 220 million extended by the Government of India ‘s credit lines implementation, small , growth medium and micro enterprises , Riveteks Punru factories And agricultural mechanization ,High-level view of the implementation of the decisions made during the consultations , the health sector , blue economyand agro-processing sectors cooperation , dealing with WTO issues and included training and capacity building programs offered by India.

 

5.Union Minister Piyush Goyal flagged the new train between Kathgodam-Dehradun to Naini-Doon Janshatabdi Express :-

Union Railway and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal flagged the 12091/12092 Kathgodam-Dehradun Naini-Doon Janshatabdi Express (five days a week) through video conferencing from Rail Bhavan on Saturday 25th August. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Railway Board Mr. Ashwini Lohani , Member of Railway Board Mr. Girish Pillai and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. This new train will provide additional services between Kathgodam and Dehradun.

On this occasion, Shri Goyal said that this new train will connect two important destinations of tourism ie Dehradun (Mussoorie) and Kathgodam (Nainital). This new train will also bring development in the area as it connects important commercial cities like Rudrapur and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh.

He also said that the new train will also help the daily commuters traveling on this route who want to reach home the same day. He congratulated the people of Uttarakhand for starting this new train service.

 

6.Ayushman Bharat – 29 States and Union Territories signed Memorandum of Understanding for implementation of Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY): J.P. Nadda :-

In order to implement the Prime Minister Jan Swasthya Yojana, 29 States and Union Territories have signed Memorandum of Understanding and started functioning. Preliminary work has begun in 16 States / UTs. Prior to starting this scheme fully on September 25, initial work will be started in other States / Union Territories also. Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri J.P. Nadda gave this information in a press conference on Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Swasthya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) here today. Shri Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Mrs. Anupriya Patel and Mr. Indu Bhushan, CEO of AB-NHA were present at the press conference.

 

7.Iranian parliament passes impeachment motion against economic minister Masood Karbasien  :-

Iran’s Parliament passed an impeachment motion against the economic minister Masood Karbasian on Sunday. The government was facing huge pressure due to economic crisis in the country. Kerbasien lost the vote of confidence in Parliament The proceedings of the Parliament were broadcast live. 137 in favor of the proposal and 121 votes in opposition.

Mr. Karbasian is the second member of President Hassan Rouhani’s Cabinet ,  against whom this impeachment passed this month. Earlier on August 8, Labor Minister Ali Ali Raboi was removed. Iran has been facing heavy inflation and unemployment problems over the years.

On the eighth day of the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, India won five silver and two bronze medals. Our correspondent has reported that Indian athletes performed brilliantly and won three silver medals for the country. Hima Das made the national record for women’s 400 meters race, taking the second position with 50 decimal 79 seconds. In the men’s section, Mohammad Anas managed to win the silver medal with 45 decimal 69 secs. In the women’s 100 meter race, Duti Chand captured the silver medal at the 11th and the 32nd time. Two silver medals are available in horse riding. Freedom Mirza won silver in an individual event. Apart from this, Favad, Jitendra Singh, Akash Malik and Rakesh Kumar were second in the team event. In the compound archery, women and men teams have reached the finals, with two more medals fixed. Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu have made the medal in place of Badminton women’s singles semifinals. In the hockey, India’s team has reached the semi-finals by defeating South Korea 5-3. India also got two bronze medals in the bridge. China remains in the first place in the medal table. India is ranked 9th with 7 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals.

 

9.The country’s first flight of biofuel arrived today from Dehradun to New Delhi :-

The country’s first passenger aircraft, running from biofuels, flew to Delhi from Dehradun yesterday. This test flight landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu, Environment Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha welcomed the flight.

Mr. Pradhan said in a tweet message that this is a great effort towards promoting alternative fuels. For the first such trial in the country, biofuels have been developed by the Indian Petroleum Institute of Dehradun.

Mr. Pradhan said that under this National Biofuels Policy, this test will lead to sustainable and alternative fuels in the transportation and aviation sector. On this occasion, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu has stressed on finding alternate sources of fuel.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that this is an environment friendly initiative which will reduce the import costs. He said that this is just the beginning and it needs to be taken to a wider level.

In Asian Games 2018, Neeraj Chopra of India made history by winning the gold medal at Men’s Javelin Throw on Monday. Neeraj’s first throw was 83.46 meters, although in the second throw, his foot went out of the line, which was considered foul but thrown a spear at 88.06 in the third throw. With this, Neeraj broke his own national record.

Neeraj also throws a spear at 86.36 meters while performing in the fourth throw. He fouled in the 5th throw, but he was far ahead of the other opponents, due to which there was not much difference.

After merger of its six associate banks, the country’s largest bank, State Bank of India, has changed the name and IFS code of about 1300 bank branches across the country. The bank has issued a new list of these branches and the list of IFS codes. SBI had merged six associate banks and Indian women banks on April 1, 2017 last year. After this, the size and valuation of the bank increased. According to the list issued on the bank’s website, the name and code of total 1295 branches has been changed. The old and new code of these branches is given in the list. After the merger of associate banks, SBI had made rational reorganization of the branches.
