    The Supreme Court has rejected the petition challenging the order of the Agra Authority to prevent the people from outside Agra from studying the prayer of Jumme in the Taj Mahal campus mosque. A bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan arranged that the Taj Mahal is among the wonders of the world and people can read Namaz by going to other mosques. In the petition, Additional District Magistrate of Agra City challenged the order of 24 january 2018 stating that those who do not live in Agra are not allowed to go to the mosque built inside the Taj Mahal to read the prayer of the Jumla for safety.     1. Deepa Karmakar wins Gold Medal in FIF Artistic GymnasticsWorld Challenge Cup Vault Competition in Turkey :-

    Deepa Karmakar of India won the gold medal in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup Volt Championship at Mercin, Turkey. He secured first place with a score of 14 decimal 150. This is the first medal in Deepa’s World Challenge Cup to return after two years due to injury. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Deepa on this magnificent achievement. In a tweet message, Shri Modi has said that this victory is a great example of Deepa’s passion and the feeling of never giving up.

     

    1. IIT Delhi and Bombay and IISC Bangalore have been given the status of the main institute :-

    The Ministry of Human Resource Development has granted IIT Delhi , IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore the status of major institutions . Giving information about this decision in the tweet message, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that this decision is historic and has given full autonomy to these institutions. Mr. Javadekar also said that by getting the status of the Principal Institute, these institutions will develop rapidly and their quality will improve which will make them world-class institutions. Among the private sector institutes, Manipal Higher Education Academy, BITS Pilani and Geo Institute have been given the status of the main institute.

     

    1. Indian Railways Launches First Double Stack Dwarf Container Service from Rajkot Division of Western Railway Indian Railways has :-

    Under the guidance of Finance, Corporate Affairs, Rail and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, Indian Railways has launched ‘Double Stack Dwarf Container’ services, with the objective of reducing that level of traffic through the new delivery model for domestic cargo Which has seen a decrease during past years. This freight train was flagged off during its first commercial operation from Rajkot railway station of Western Railway on July 07, 2018. This train was booked from Kanalus-based Reliance Rail Siding to Haryana’s Rewari. It was filled with 82 containers polypropylene granules. Indian Railway has received an increase of Rs 18.50 lakh in revenue from the ‘double stack dwarf container’ service.

     

    1. Government declares 6 academic “excellent institutions”; Three institutions from the public sector and 3 from the private sector :-

    The government has selected 6 excellent institutions, out of which 3 are from public sector and 3 are from private sector. An Empowered Committee (EEC) had recommended selection of 6 institutions (3 institutes from the public sector and 3 from the private sector) in the form of ‘excellent institutions’ in their report. Details of these institutions are given below.

    Public Sector: (i) Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka (ii) Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, Maharashtra and (iii) Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

    Private sector: (i) Geo Institute (Reliance Foundation) Pune, under the Green Field category (ii) Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pilani, Rajasthan; And (iii) Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka.

    Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar has said that this is a historic decision and it is far ahead of categorical autonomy. He said that this will ensure full autonomy to the selected institutions and will help them to develop very fast. He said that these institutions will get more opportunities to increase their operational level with improved skills and quality so that they can become a ‘world-class institution’ in the field of education.

     

    1. 3. RBI cancels licence of Alwar Urban Co-operative Bank :-

    The RBI said the licence of Alwar Urban Co-operative Bank in Alwar, Rajasthan has been cancelled as it is not in a position to pay its depositors in full as and when their claims accrue, among other reasons. The present financial position of the bank leaves no scope for its revival, the RBI said, adding that the cancellation of the licence is effective from the close of business on July 5.

     

    1. Former Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob passes away :-

     

    Senior Congress leader and former Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob passed away due to age-related ailments. He was 90. Jacob, a former Union Minister, had also served as deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha in the 80s. Jacob had served as general secretary and treasurer of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee and Chairman of the Kerala State Seva Dal Board and an elected member of AICC for many years.

    Indian team won the series 2-1 by defeating England by 7 wickets in the third T20 match. The hero of this victory, Rohit Sharma, who made his third T20 career hundred, gave India a spectacular victory. The Indian team started to bowl first before winning the toss and did not start well.

    England opener Jason Roy and Jos Buttler batted fast since the start. The two batsmen had scored more than 70 runs in 6 overs, after which the Indian bowlers made a great return and England continued to shock. In the end, England’s score was 225 runs. He reached only 198 runs.

     

    1. Agro scientists fierce on trying to stutter in GM crops :-

    There is a continuous obstacle in the path of Genetic Modified (GM) crops. Despite all the exemption of GM mustard, he was not allowed to go to farm fields. Eminent agricultural scientist Deepak Pantal has said that GM mustard is now trapped after getting green signal from almost everywhere. This modern technology species of mustard was sent back to the field trial.

    Dr. RB Singh, former president of the National Academy of Agricultural Science (NAS), said that the GM mustard had to fight in the court for a long time in the effort to give its right and to improve the condition and direction of domestic farmers. On behalf of the Academy, 17 lakh rupees for this was given for lobbyists. The Academy’s hard earned money had to be spent on lawyers due to activists.
