1 Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar gave two gifts of ICAR to Bikaner and Barmer of Rajasthan.

Vice President  Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar  launched two gifts given  by  the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) , Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare  in Rajasthan . He   inaugurated  the Regional Research Center of the Groundnut Research Directorate of ICAR  and  the Trainee House of the Central Institute of Arid Horticulture  at  Bikaner , while  the Regional  Shree Anna (Millets) Research Center at Gudamalani, Barmer.  Laid the foundation stone of. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar participated in it virtually. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Kailash Chaudhary, regional public representatives, Director General of ICAR Dr. Himanshu Pathak, scientists, farmers also participated in the program.

2 Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth more than Rs 5200 crore in Bodeli, Chhota Udepur, Gujarat

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  laid   the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth more than Rs 5200 crore  in  Bodeli Chhota Udepur , Gujarat . In this ‘ Mission School of Excellence’This included laying the foundation stone and inauguration of various projects worth more than Rs 4500 crore under the ‘ programme, ‘ Vidya Samiksha Kendra 2.0’‘And other development projects are included. The Vidya Samiksha Kendra 2.0 project will build on the success of ‘Vidya Samiksha Kendra’, which has ensured continuous monitoring of schools in Gujarat and improvement in student learning outcomes. Under ‘Vidya Samiksha Kendra 2.0’, Vidya Samiksha Kendras will be established in all the districts and blocks of Gujarat. During the programme, the Prime Minister inaugurated several development projects, including the new bridge constructed over the Narmada river on ‘Vadodara Dabhoi-Sinore-Malsar-Asa Road’ in Taluka Sinor in Vadodara district, Chab Talao Redevelopment Project, Water in Dahod Supply Project, about 400 newly constructed houses for Economically Weaker Section in Vadodara, Village Wi-Fi Project in 7500 villages across Gujarat and newly constructed Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Dahod. Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of many projects, These include- Water Supply Project in Chhota Udepur; A flyover bridge at Godhra, Panchmahal and FM radio studio at Dahod, which will be constructed under the ‘Broadcast Infrastructure and Network Development (BIND)’ scheme of the Central Government.

3. Health Ministry of Jammu and Kashmir gets the title of best performance in Arogya Manthan 2023

Jammu and Kashmir Health Ministry  has  won the title of best performance in gender parity admission under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Ayushman Bharat , maximum Ayushman card creation and full utilization of allocated funds. The award was  presented by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya  during  Arogya Manthan 2023  at Vigyan Bhawan,  New Delhi . to Health and Medical Education Secretary Bhupinder Kumar and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev M. Gadkar. All the states and union territories participated in this brainstorming. Arogya Manthan was organized to commemorate the completion of five years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and two years of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. State health agencies were asked to showcase best practices in their respective states.

4 Ministry of AYUSH will organize “One Date One Hour Together” under Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign on 1st of next month

Ministry of AYUSH will organize “ One Date One Hour Ek Saath ”  under the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign  on the 1st of next month  . According to the ministry release, more than 200 events will be organized across the country to mark the day. The National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine and the National Commission for Homeopathy comprising more than 750 colleges will also participate in the event. The Ministry has also requested various States and Union Territories to inspect Shramdaan activity at all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres. The theme of Swachhta Hi Seva 2023 is ‘Garbage Free India’ The theme of Swachhta Hi Seva 2023 isMinistry of AYUSH is actively participating in the Ayushman Bhava campaign by organizing weekly AYUSH health fairs across India under the National AYUSH Mission.

5 REC and PNB sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-finance infrastructure project loans worth Rs 55,000 crore over the next three years

REC Limited  has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Punjab National Bank (PNB) to  jointly explore financing for projects in the power sector and infrastructure and logistics sector under   a  consortium arrangement . . REC and PNB   will tie up with each other to co-finance Rs 55,000 crore of loans over the next three years . REC Executive Director (Infrastructure & Logistics) Shri T.S.C. Bose and Shri Rajiv, CGM (Corporate Credit Branch), PNB, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Gurugram, Haryana on September 26, 2023. On this occasion, REC Director (Finance) Shri Ajay Chaudhary, REC Director (Project) Shri V.K. Singh and other senior officials of REC and PNB were present.

6 Tourism Ministry organizes global launch of ‘Travel for Life’

Union Ministry of Tourism,  Ministry  of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) on the  occasion of  World Tourism Day 2023  at Bharat Mandapam,  New Delhi . In partnership with, organized the global launch of ‘Travel for Life’, a regional program targeted towards the tourism sector under Mission Life. In this programme, Travel for Life program was launched for two different areas. First is Travel for Life for cleanliness which is a national TfL campaign to clean tourist places and monuments along with cleanliness drive and second is Travel for Life for rural tourism which encourages tourists to visit rural and lesser-known tourist destinations. This will promote sustainable rural tourism and empower the rural community. The activities of the ‘Travel for Life’ program promote sustainable economic growth, encourage sustainable consumption and production and thereby focus on decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), Contributes to the SDGs focusing on responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), climate action (SDG 13) and life below water (SDG 14). Given the wide range of actions, ‘Travel for Life’ contributes directly and indirectly to almost all the SDGs. On this occasion, Best Rural Tourism Village Awards were presented for promoting and preserving cultural heritage and sustainable development of villagers through tourism. Out of 35 rural tourism villages, 5 were awarded gold, 10 were awarded silver and 20 villages were awarded bronze category. ‘Travel for Life’ contributes directly and indirectly to almost all the SDGs. On this occasion, Best Rural Tourism Village Awards were presented for promoting and preserving cultural heritage and sustainable development of villagers through tourism. 7 Delay in withdrawal of monsoon from India

 According to  the India Meteorological Department, the south-west monsoon in India  has started withdrawing with a delay of eight days from the normal date. In the year 2023, monsoon was delayed for the 13th time. The South-West plea usually starts in Kerala by 1 June and covers the entire country by 8 July. It  starts retreating from northwest India around 17 September  and completely retreats by 15 October. Delay in withdrawal of monsoon leads to prolonged rainy season, which can have wide-ranging impact on agricultural production, especially for northwest India where monsoon rains are important for Rabi crop production.

8 Government gives grant of more than Rs 256 crore to provide relief to MSMEs amid pandemic

The Government of India has   provided relief to  micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)  by accepting  over 10,000 claims  under the  Vivad Se Vishwas – I scheme , which aims  to support these businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic . Vivad Se Vishwas-I Scheme, the relief scheme for MSMEs was introduced by the Union Finance Minister during the Budget speech for 2023-24 and was launched through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. It allowed MSMEs to submit claims for relief, including refund of 95% of deducted performance security, bid security and liquidated damages, as well as relief for MSMEs facing sanctions due to contract performance defaults.

9 Unprecedented heatwave hits East Antarctica

During this unprecedented summer,  temperatures  in  East Antarctica  rose well above the monthly average . The peak of this phenomenon was on March 18, 2022, when temperatures rose to -10C (-14F), a sharp contrast to the March average of -54C (-65.2F). What made this heatwave truly extraordinary was its duration. Temperatures remained above the previous March record of -31C (-23.8F), including at night, for three consecutive days. Researchers investigating this remarkable phenomenon identified unusual air circulation patterns near Australia as the driving force behind the heatwave. In just four days, a blast of warm air from southern Australia managed to penetrate East Antarctica, an event described by study author Edward Blanchard-Wrigglesworth as exceptionally fast.

10 Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2023 issued

The Home Ministry  has recently issued a gazette notification,   introducing amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) rules. These changes   have a significant impact on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with FCRA licenses and individuals receiving foreign contributions.  In a notification, the Home Ministry invoked Section 48 of the FCRA to make necessary rule changes. These amendments are officially known as “ Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2023”.” are titled and are effective upon their publication in the Official Gazette. The Home Ministry had earlier amended foreign funding rules providing some relaxations. These relaxations allowed relatives to send large sums of money under the FCRA and extended the deadline for organizations to inform the government about opening bank accounts for money received under the ‘registration’ or ‘prior permission’ category.

Israel  unveiled  its state-of-the-art main battle tank,  the Merkava Mark 5 , known as the “ Barak ”, marking a significant leap in technological advancement and military capability. The development of the Barak tank involved collaboration between the Israeli Defense Ministry’s Armored Vehicles Directorate, the IDF’s Ground Forces, Armored Corps, and several Israeli defense companies, including Elbit Systems, Rafael, and Elta, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries. The technological advancements and combat capabilities of the Barak tank have wide-ranging implications for military innovation around the world. It reflects Israel’s prowess in defense technology and may influence the development of future armored vehicles.

12 RBI Deputy Governor M. Rajeshwar Rao’s tenure extended for one year

The central government has   extended  the tenure of  M Rajeswara Rao  as  Deputy Governor  of  the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by one year . The announcement was made through an official statement from the Reserve Bank, which indicated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved this reappointment. M Rajeswara Rao was originally appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank in October 2020 with a tenure of three years.

Katrina Kaif   has become the brand ambassador of Japanese clothing brand ‘Uniqlo’ . Katrina is the first Indian actress to become the ambassador of this brand.  Deepika Padukone is the ambassador of many international brands including  Louis Vuitton  and  Levi’s . Alia Bhatt has also  been made the brand ambassador of Gucci  some time ago  .

14 India won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals in shooting at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

 India   won  two gold, three silver and three bronze medals in shooting  at  the Asian Games  in  Hangzhou  ,  China . Sifat Kaur Samra  won the gold medal in  the women’s  50m rifle 3-position individual event. Aashi  won  the bronze medal in this competition  . The Indian team  won the silver medal  in the 50 meter 3-position team event  . Earlier,   the team of  Manu Bhaker, Isha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan  had won  the gold medal  in  the 25 meter pistol team event . Isha Singh  women’s  Won   silver medal in individual 25 meter pistol event . Anant Jeet Singh Naruka  won  the silver medal in  men’s  individual skeet event .  The men’s team of  Anant Naruka, Gurjot Singh and Angad Bajwa  won  the bronze medal in the skeet event.  In  sailing , Vishnu Saravanan  won the men’s dinghy ILCA.  Won  bronze medal with a score of 34 out of 7  .  India   is ranked seventh in the medal table with a total of 22 medals including five gold, seven silver and 10 bronze. China is at first place with 74 gold medals, Korea is at second place with 18 gold medals and Japan is at third place with 14 gold medals.

World Tourism Day  is celebrated every year  on  27 September  to promote  tourism . Its objective is to promote awareness among the international community on the importance, social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism. This year’s theme is ‘Tourism and Green Investment’. Tourism provides employment to millions of people. Countries are completely dependent on tourism for financial stability.

16 Google celebrated its 25th birthday

Google  celebrated  its  25th birthday  on  27 September . The company celebrated the day with a special doodle that showcased the history of the Google logo. The doodle also included the number 25. Google started in 1998 as the world’s largest search engine. Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded the company in September 1998. On September 27, 1998  ,  Google Inc.  was formally established.

 Former  Italian President Giorgio Napolitano  has   died at the age of 98 . His passing marks the end of an era in Italian politics, as he was not only the longest-serving president, but also a central figure in shaping the country’s post-war history. Giorgio Napolitano, who   served as President of Italy from 2006 to 2015 , was an important figure in the country’s political scene. He has the distinction of being the first president in Italian history to be re-elected to this position, a testament to his widespread popularity and the confidence reposed in him by the Italian people.
