1.70वां विश्व स्वास्थ्य सम्मेलन जिनेवा में आयोजित :-
(I)70वीं विश्व स्वास्थ्य सभा(WHA) का आयोजन स्विट्जरलैंड के जिनेवा में 22 से 31 मई 2017 में हुआ।
(II)डेमोक्रेटिक रिपब्लिक ऑफ कांगो (डीआरसी) में ईबोला, नाइजीरिया में सेरेब्रो स्पाइनल मेनिनजाइटिस (सीएसएम) महामारी, गैर-संचारी रोगों की रोकथाम और नियंत्रण (एनसीडी) और विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) के नए अध्यक्ष का चुनाव सभा का एजेंडा मुख्य अजेंडा था।
2.रामचंद्र गुहा ने बीसीसीआई प्रशासक पद से इस्तीफा दिया :-
(I)बीसीसीआई के चार प्रशासकों में से एक के रूप में सर्वोच्च न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त इतिहासकार रामचंद्र गुहा ने अदालत को सूचित किया कि व्यक्तिगत कारणों से उन्होंने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है।
(II)उन्होंने 28 मई को भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड के प्रशासक समिति के अध्यक्ष विनोद राय को अपना इस्तीफा सौंप दिया था।
3.आइसलैंड दुनिया का सबसे शांतिपूर्ण देश, भारत 137 वें स्थान पर :-
(I)ग्लोबल पीस इंडेक्स में आइसलैंड को लगातार दसवें साल के लिये दुनिया के सबसे शांतिपूर्ण राष्ट्र का नाम दिया गया है।
(II)न्यूजीलैंड और पुर्तगाल ने शीर्ष तीन तीन में अन्य देश रहे, जबकि सीरिया को अंतिम स्थान पर रहा।
(III)अमेरिका 11 स्थानों की ढालन के साथ 114वें स्थान पर, जबकि भारत 163 में से 137 में स्थान पर है।
- पूर्व प्रधान मंत्री अलेक्जेंडर वुकिक ने सर्बिया के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ ली :-
(I)अलेक्जेंडर वुकिक को सर्बिया के नए राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ दिलाई गई है, जिन्होनें देश की सशस्त्र बलों को मजबूत करते हुए युद्ध के दौरान बाल्कन में शांति और स्थिरता के लिए काम करने का वादा किया है।
(II)अप्रैल के चुनाव में जीत के बाद अपनी नई भूमिका के लिये वुकिक ने औपचारिक रूप से प्रधान मंत्री पद से पद इस्तीफा दे दिया।
5.भारत, पाकिस्तान अस्ताना शिखर सम्मेलन में एससीओ के पूर्ण सदस्य बनेंगे :-
(I)भारत और पाकिस्तान बीजिंग समर्थित शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (एससीओ) के कजाखस्तान के अस्ताना में राजनीतिक और सुरक्षा समूह के शिखर सम्मेलन में औपचारिक रूप से शामिल होंगे।
(II)बीजिंग में मुख्यालय वाला शंघाई सहयोग संगठन 2001 में स्थापित किया गया था और चीन के अलावा इसमें रूस, कजाखस्तान, उजबेकिस्तान, ताजिकिस्तान और किर्गिस्तान पूर्ण सदस्य के रूप में शामिल हैं।
6.चौथी तिमाही में भारत की जीडीपी दर 6.1% रही :-
(I)भारत ने 2016-17 की चौथी तिमाही में सबसे तेज़ी से बढ़ते हुई प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्था के दर्जे खो दिया है, क्योंकि इस दौरान जीडीपी विकास दर 6.1% रही जबकि इसी अवधि में चीन की विकास दर 6.9% रही।
(II)सांख्यिकी मंत्रालय के आंकड़े बताते हैं कि वित्तीय वर्ष 2016-17 में जीडीपी 7.1% की दर से बढ़ी, जो कि 2015-16 में 8% थी।
7.ट्रम्प ने अमेरिका को पेरिस समझौते से निकाला :-
(I)राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प ने जलवायु परिवर्तन पर पेरिस समझौते से अमेरिका की सदस्यता वापस लेने का फैसला किया और पिछले ओबामा प्रशासन के दौरान 190 से अधिक देशों द्वारा सहमत हुए इस समझौते पर पुन: बातचीत की घोषणा की।
(II)यह तर्क देते हुए कि चीन और भारत जैसे देशों को पेरिस समझौते से सबसे ज्यादा फायदा हो रहा है, ट्रम्प ने कहा कि जलवायु परिवर्तन पर होने वाला समझौता संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के लिए अनुचित है, क्योंकि यह अमेरिकी व्यवसायों और नौकरियों को बुरी तरह प्रभावित करता है।
8.Global Peace Index 2017 :-
(I)India has been ranked 137th in the Global Peace Index 2017, which ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness.
(II)In Last year’s index, India was ranked 141st. This is the eleventh edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI). The index is compiled every year by the Sydney-based think tank Institute for Economics and Peace.
9.Second Scorpene Class Submarine Ready for Sea Trials :-
(I)Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has announced that the second Scorpene-class submarine is ready for surface sea trials.
(II)INS Khanderi, the second Scorpene class submarine has been built at Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
(III)It is the second of the six submarines being built at MDL in collaboration with France’s DCNS as part of Project 75 of Indian Navy.
10.Country’s First Automatic Coastal Warning for Disasters to come up in Odisha :-
(I)From July, Odisha will commission the ambitious Early Warning Dissemination System (EWDS) to warn the vast population residing along its 480 km-long coast in the event of the occurrence of natural disasters like a tsunami or a cyclone.
(II)Andhra Pradesh is also reportedly developing such system to alert the people in case of natural calamities.
11.Mouma-Manika Pair made History by becoming First Indian Pair to reach Quaterfinals in World TT Championships :-
(I)India’s Manika Batra and Mouma Das has created history by becoming the first Indian pair to reach the quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis Championships.
(II)The event is held in Dusseldorf. The last edition of the event was held in Suzhou in 2015. The next world TT championships will be held in Budapest in the year 2019.
12.Prithvi-II Missile Test Fired Successfully :-
(I)The land version of the short range surface–to–surface ballistic missile Prithvi-II was successfully test-fired from a defence base off Odisha coast.
(II)The test was conducted by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian Army with logistics support from DRDO. The test was part of the user training exercise.
(III)The missile carrying a dummy payload was mounted on a Mobile Tatra transporter-erector Launcher (MTL).
13.Paris Climate Deal: US to Withdraw :-
(I)President Donald Trump has announced that the United States is set to withdraw from the historic 2015 Paris Accord as the accord was hurting his country and economy very badly.
(II)However, he has said that he is open for a “new transaction” on terms that are fair to the US. With the decision to pull out, the United States will join the short list of countries including Syria and Nicaragua that are not a part of the Paris Accord which has been signed by 195 countries in 2015.
(III)The Paris Agreement on Climate Change came into effect in November last year.
14.India and Russia Sign 5 Pacts :-
(I)India and Russia have inked 5 pacts after wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Russia.
Agreements –
-An agreement on cultural exchanges for a period of two years (2017-2019) has been signed between the two nations.
-An agreement for the construction of the third stage of the Kudankulam NPP (KK5 & KK6) along with the Credit Protocol has been signed between NPCIL and ROSATOM
-An agreement between the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Council of India on Scientific and Industrial Research has been signed to provide access to Rospatent experts to the Indian Digital Library of Traditional Knowledge (TKDL).
-Contract between JSC (Russian Railways) and the Ministry of Railways on the preparation of the justification for the implementation of the high-speed service at the Nagpur-Secunderabad section has been signed.
-Memorandum of cooperation between ALROSA Joint Stock Company and the Council for the Promotion of the Export of Precious Stones and Jewellery of India has been signed.
