1.Cabinet apprised of the progress under National Health Mission and decisions of the Empowered Programme Committee and Mission Steering Group of NHM  :-

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been apprised of the progress under National Health Mission (NHM). The Cabinet was also apprised of the decisions of the Empowered Programme Committee (EPC) and Mission Steering Group (MSG) of NHM.

National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched in April 2005 and it morphed into National Health Mission (NHM) with launch of National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) during 2013. Thereafter, NRHM and NUHM became two sub-missions under the overarching NHM.

 

2.Cabinet approves increase of cost norms for Supplementary Nutrition provided in Anganwadis and in the Scheme for Adolescent Girls  :-

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the proposal for revision of cost norms with annual cost indexation for Supplementary Nutrition (SN) for the beneficiaries of Anganwadi Services and Adolescent Girls (out of school 11-14 years) under the Umbrella ICDS Scheme.

This addresses a long standing anomaly and ensures that the changes in norms keeps pace with changes in costs on an annual basis.

 

3.Visit of Chief of the Air Staff to Australia :-

Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, Chief of the Air Staff is on an official visit to Australia from 19-22 Sep 17.

The visit is intended to further strengthen the existing defence cooperation between the Air Forces of the two countries.

 

4.Visit of admiral Tin Aung San, Commander in Chief, Myanmar Navy to India  :-

Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief, Myanmar Navy, is currently on a visit to India from 18 to 21 September 2017. The visit is intended to consolidate and enhance bilateral defence relations between India and Myanmar.

The Admiral visited various Naval establishments at Mumbai and Kochi as part of his itinerary prior arriving New Delhi where he is scheduled to call on the Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff.

 

5.MoS Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates first ‘Pension Adalat’ today :-

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the first ‘Pension Adalat’ here today at the Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop organised by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India.

He also presented the ‘Anubhav’ awards 2017 to 16 pensioners for their contribution towards creating institutional memory for the departments.

On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh launched a Mobile App that has been created to avail the services of Pensioners’ Portal. The Secretary to President Shri Sanjay Kothari was the Guest of Honour.

 

6.First ever National Conference on ‘Mission Mode to address Under-Nutrition’ held in New Delhi :-

The Ministry of Women and Child Development holds the first ever National Conference in New Delhi on Mission Mode to address Under-Nutrition in the country.

This conference is being organized  keeping in mind the goal of “Malnutrition Free India-2022”.

 

The National Conference, first of its kind, aims at bringing convergence at District/Block levels of the three key Departments (Health & Family Welfare, ICDS/Social Welfare and Drinking Water and Sanitation) wherein a roadmap would be drawn to evolve an appropriate strategy in tackling the problem of stunting, under-nutrition and wasting comprehensively and conclusively.

 

7.Tripura, First State to Set Up Family Welfare Committees :-

Tripura has become the first state in the country to set up family welfare district committees to examine the complaints of women against their husbands and in-laws and find an amicable solution.

 

Tripura High Court is the first high court among 24 high courts of the country that has constituted the family welfare district committees.

The new system would be valid for the next six months and after that National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) would submit a report of its performance to the apex court, on the basis of which a new course of action would be decided.

 

8.Ola Ties Up With Karnataka Tourism Dept :-

In line with United Nations’ theme for this year’s World Tourism Day, cab aggregator Ola kicked off a tourism campaign in the state.

The campaign is being carried out in association with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation to promote and raise awareness about responsible tourism named “GhoomoResponsibly”.


Tourism and IT-BT Minister Priyank M. Kharge flagged off this campaign in Bangalore.
