1.Appropriate committees in the United States proposed to impose strict conditions for military and financial assistance to Pakistan :-

US Senate and House of Representatives appropriations committee has proposed stricter conditions for Pakistan’s military and financial support.

Committees have asked to meet certain standards to pursue the fight against terrorism.

While passing the annual appropriation bill for the State Department for the year 2018, the Committee has said that there is concern for Pakistan’s commitment to US strategic objectives, including dealing with terrorism in the region.

 

2.Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister Modi arrived in Ahmedabad :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a cultural road show in Ahmedabad. Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Ahmedabad on a two-day visit to India. The two leaders will participate in the 12th India-Japan Summit in Mahatma Mandir of Gandhi Nagar.

The people of Gujarat were eagerly waiting for the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Joint Road Show of Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Shinzo Abe. This is the first time that a foreign national has participated in a road show in India.

The road to the eight-kilometer road show was beautifully decorated with the big cut-outs of Benares and the two Prime Ministers. Prime Minister Shri Modi and Mr. Abe will lay the foundation of a fast-moving bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad tomorrow.

4.Before granting a divorce under Hindu Marriage Act, the period of 6 months to be given for the purpose of the agreement can be removed: Supreme Court :-

The Supreme Court has said that before the approval of a divorce under Hindu Marriage Act, the period of at least six months given for the purpose of the agreement can be removed, if there is no hope of living with the couple.

The Hindu Marriage Law of 1955 gives a six month period for every possible effort of the agreement in the event of divorce with mutual consent.

The Supreme Court said that the purpose of this period was to avoid any decision taken hastily. The court also said that during the hearing of such cases the courts could use video conferencing.

 

5.Halima Yakub became Singapore’s first woman president :-

Haila Yakub has been declared the President of Singapore in Singapore. His nomination papers have been found correct.

She will be Singapore’s first woman president and will be the first Malay nation chief in 47 years. It has been said in the release of the Prime Minister’s Office that Halima will take oath as the country’s eighth President in Istana on Thursday evening.

6.Banking Services reached 99.99 percent of the country’s population through Jan-Dhan Yojana: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley :-

Terming the Jan Dhan Yojana as the largest financial inclusion campaign in the country so far, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that before this, about 42 per cent of the households of the country were deprived of banking services, but within just three years of the beginning of the scheme Today 99.99 percent of the households have at least one bank account.

Mr. Jaitley was speaking here on a program organized on ‘Financial Inclusion’. He said that the work done by Jana-Dhan Yojana for financial inclusion has been seen today. Within three years of the start of the scheme, 30 crore households opened public funds.
