Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu unveiled the first phase of the ambitious Station Redevelopment Programme. It is the world’s largest transit-oriented development programme ever executed.

 

2.World’s first Braille Atlas for visually impaired persons released in New Delhi  :-

The Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Harsh Vardhan released the Special Edition of “Atlas for Visually Impaired (India)” in English Braille in New Delhi.

 

3.War on black money: Government cracks down on shell companies used for money laundering :-

NEW DELHI: In the latest crackdown on the parallel economy of black money the government has introduced strict measures to discourage individuals and companies indulging in tax evasion and money laundering.

 

4.India v Bangladesh: Double impact, Virat Kohli style :-

Virat Kphli’s first proper mishit – foot not to the pitch, head slightly out of position, ball splayed in the air – during his record-setting 204 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad came off the delivery that took him from 199 to 203, the boundary that also made him the first batsman in the history of Test cricket to score four double-centuries in four successive series. China said that it will check on India’s diplomatic protest on Masood Azhar. India on Thursday lodged protest with China over its ‘hold’ on banning Masood Azhar at UN. China had blocked US move to list Azhar as a terrorist by the UN.

 

7.Sudarsan Pattnaik sets Guinness record with world’s tallest sand castle :-

Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Friday made it into the Guinness World Records by creating the world’s tallest sand castle. Pattnaik and his team of over 30 students from Sudarsan Sand Art Institute created a stunning sand castle with minute details at Orissa’s Puri beach.

 

8.Supreme Court slaps Rs 10 lakh fine on RJD MLA for filing ‘frivolous’ plea :-

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday slapped a fine of Rs 10 lakh on RJD MLA Ravindra Singh for challenging a Patna high court order dismissing his plea which questioned veracity of an article published in a vernacular magazine way back in 1994. The apex court came down heavily on the lawmaker saying being a “representative of people he is found to be wasting judicial time by filing frivolous litigation”.

 

9. 224 pilots failed pre-flight breath test in 2016 :-

NEW DELHI: The menace of tipsy pilots seems to be on the rise in India. As many as 224 pilots tested positive in their pre flight breath analyser (BA) checks – up 11% from 2015 figure of 202, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

 

10.Anti-Muslim poster clouds Swiss citizenship vote :-

Switzerland is holding a referendum on citizenship process on Sunday.

The referendum advocates soft citizenship rules for grandchildren of immigrants.

The government and many political parties support the proposal.

Chanting “Death to America,” thousands of Iranians on Friday rallied across the country as President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran won’t tolerate United States’ “war-mongering.”

 

13.Governor holds talks with Girija Vaidhyanathan :-

A day after Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam sought time to prove his strength and AIADMK general secretary V. K. Sasikala sought to form the government claiming support of party MLAs, Governor Ch.
