Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup has been appointed the new High Commissioner to Canada.
2.NASA Scientists Record January 2017 as Third Warmest January in 137 years :-
According to the Monthly Analysis of Global Temperatures report published by the NASA scientists at Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), New York, January 2017 has been recorded as the third warmest January in 137 years of modern record-keeping.
3.FIBA Appoints Norman Isaac as its First Indian Technical Delegate :-
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has promoted Norman Isaac as the Technical Delegate (TD) of the sport’s worldwide governing body. He has become the first Indian to be ever appointed to the post.
4.Edappadi K Palaniswami Appointed as the New Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu :-
The Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao appointed Edappadi K Palaniswami as chief minister of the state on February 16, 2017. His appointment is in acceptance of the letter submitted by Palaniswami on February 14, 2017 that he was elected as the leader of the AIADMK legislature party at a meeting of the party MLAs.
5.Indian-origin Shand Panesar Wins UK’s Bravery Award :-
An Indian-origin Scotland Yard officer Shand Panesar along with his colleague Craig Nicholson was honored with the 2017 Outstanding Bravery of the Year Award on February 10, 2017 in central London during a special award ceremony of the Total Excellence in Policing Awards.
6.Rs 2,000 notes printed when Rajan was RBI governor but bear Patel’s signature :-
The newly launched 2,000-rupee banknotes carry the signature of present central bank chief Urjit Patel but the process to print those bills began when his predecessor Raghuram Rajan was still in office, a Hindustan Times investigation has found.

Apple’s Taiwanese manufacturing partner Wistron Corp is setting up a plant in Bengaluru to focus solely on assembling iPhones, a separate source told Reuters earlier this month.
8.वरिष्ठ पत्रकार टी वी परशुराम का निधन :-
(i)प्रेस ट्रस्ट ऑफ इंडिया के पूर्व संवाददाता, टी वी परशुराम का निधन हो गया है.
- एसबीआई से मिलेगी रेलवे की जनरल टिकट :-
(i)भारतीय रेलवे ने यात्रियों को सुविधा देने के उद्देश्य से एक बड़ा निर्णय लिया है, जिसके तहत अब जल्द ही रेलवे की जनरल टिकट बैंकों से भी मिलेगी।
(ii)रेलवे बोर्ड में अगस्त 2016 से नई योजना पर काम शुरू था और अब यह अंतिम चरण में है।
(iii)इस नई योजना को लागू करने के लिए रेलवे विभाग की स्टेट बैंक ऑफ इंडिया से बात चल रही है।
(iv)अप्रैल 2017 तक रेलवे का स्टेट बैंक से जनरल टिकट देने पर करार संभव है। इसके बाद क्रिस मदद से ट्रायल शुरू होगा।
(v)इसके लिए या तो रेलवे बैंक परिसर में ऑटोमैटिक टिकट वैंङ्क्षडग मशीन लगाएगा या बैंक के ए.टी.एम. में ही रेल टिकट का ऑप्शन देगा।
10.बीएसएफ परिसरों में खुलेंगे 1 दर्जन से अधिक पतंजलि के स्टोर्स :-
(i)योग गुरु रामदेव की पतंजलि आयुर्वेद और बीएसएफ वाइव्स वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन ने एक सहमति पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जिसके तहत बीएसएफ के विभिन्न परिसरों में एक दर्जन से अधिक पतंजलि स्टोर्स खोले जाएंगे.
(ii) ऐसा पहला स्टोर बीएसएफ के तिगरी (दिल्ली) परिसर में खोला गया है. इन स्टोर्स में बीएसएफ जवानों और उनके परिजनों को 15-28% डिस्काउंट पर सामान मिलेगा.
- विकासस्वरूप बने कनाडा में भारत के उच्चायुक्त :-
(i)विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता विकास स्वरूप को कनाडा में भारत का उच्चायुक्त (हाई कमिश्नर) नियुक्त किया गया है।
(ii)एक प्रसिद्ध लेखक श्री स्वरूप ने साल 2015 में प्रवक्ता की अहम जिम्मेदारी संभाली थी।
(iii)वह मार्च के मध्य में ओटावा में ड्यूटी ज्वॉइन कर लेंगे।
(iv)विकास स्वरूप कनाडा में विष्णु प्रकाश की जगह लेंगे।
(v)पाकिस्तान-अफगानिस्तान-ईरान डेस्क में संयुक्त सचिव गोपाल बागले का नए प्रवक्ता होंगे।

12.केरल में अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन हेतु एक समूह द्वारा हेल्पलाइन नंबर जारी :-
(i)हेल्पलाइन नंबर 94001 47150, रसोई के कचरे से कम्पोस्ट बनाने के लिए, टेरेस फार्मिंग, आर्गेनिक फार्मिंग, और जैविक साधनों द्वारा कीट/कवक नियंत्रण हेतु सूचना एवं दिशानिर्देशन प्रदान करेगा.
13.तमिलनाडु के राज्यपाल ने पलानीस्वामी को मुख्यमंत्री नियुक्त किया :-
(i)तमिलनाडु के राज्यपाल सी विद्यासागर राव ने तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में एडाप्पडी पलानीस्वामी को नियुक्त किया है।
(ii)राज्यपाल ने उन्हें को जल्द से जल्द सरकार बनाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया है।
(iii)राज्यपाल राव ने मुख्यमंत्री पलानीस्वामी को 15 दिन के भीतर बहुमत साबित करने को कहा है।
(iv)पलानीस्वामी ने दावा किया है कि उनको 124 विधायकों का समर्थन है, जबकि ओ पनीरसेल्वम खेमे को केवल 10 विधायकों का समर्थन है।
