1.Finance Minister Arun Jaitley inaugurated the Hunar Haat organized by Minority Affairs Ministry in State Emporium Complex in New Delhi:-

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley inaugurated the Hunar Haat organized by Minority Affairs Ministry at State Emporium Campus in New Delhi. Later in the interaction with the media, Mr. Jaitley said there is no lack of talent in the country and artisans and craftsmen of minority communities are known for their world class products. He said that branding and marketing of these products is important because they have huge demand in the world. While appreciating the efforts of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the Finance Minister said that Hunar is providing a platform to the artists. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that his Ministry is providing employment and opportunities to artisans through Hunar Haat. He said that the NDA government will  develop everything Working with Mantra. Minister of State for Minority Affairs Dr. Virendra Kumar was also present on the occasion.

2.Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is dedicated to serving the country rather than vote bank politics:-

4.Gujarat becomes 1st state to implement 10% quota to EWS:-

Gujarat Government has announced that the benefits of 10 per cent quota for Economically Weaker sections of general category in educational institutions and government jobs will be applicable from midnight tonight. In an official statement, State Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, the decision has been taken for social equanimity. The release said, it is clarified that the eligibility of the new quota will be applicable only for which the announcement for jobs and admissions have been made but the process has not yet begun. In such cases, the ongoing process will be suspended for time being and fresh process will begin after incorporating the 10 percent additional  quota. However, it is pertinent to mention here that the benefits of the fresh quota will not be applicable for which the process had begun before January 14, 2019, like for which the process of written, oral, computer proficiency or preliminary tests have already been conducted. Official release said that this 10 per cent quota for the economically weaker class from the general category will be over and above the existing 49 per cent quota for SC, ST and OBC. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that Gujarat is the first state to implement Government’s historic and unprecedented decision to implement the 10 per cent reservation for general category poor candidates. The Centre had taken the decision under Article 46 of Guiding Principles of Constitution of India after Amendment of the Articles 15 and 16, incorporating 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections.

5.Govt drafts five-year action plan to address drug abuse in the country:-

The government has drafted a five-year action plan to address the problem of drug and substance abuse in the country. An official of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said, the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, 2018 to 2023, aims to employ a multi-pronged strategy to address the issue. It involves education, de-addiction and rehabilitation of affected individuals and their families. The Ministry has planned several measures, including co-ordination with implementing agencies for controlling the sale of sedatives, painkillers and muscle relaxant drugs, and checking the online sale of drugs. Plans are also afoot for awareness generation through social, print, digital and online media, and engagement of celebrities, besides strengthening the national tollfree helpline for drug prevention. The move comes after the Ministry withdrew the draft National Drug Demand Reduction Policy from the Cabinet. It had been pending for more than five-and-half years and was redrafted twice during the period.

6.Alex de Minor of Australia won his first ATP title as the International Tennis Tournament:-

Alex de Minor of Australia won the first ATP title of career as an International Tennis Tournament. Saturday’s fifth seed Seed Minor defeated Andreas Seppi of Italy 7-5, 7-6 in the final by defeating the title of the title. Minor took two hours, five minutes to defeat Seppi. Minor had to face defeat in two ATP finals last year. These two will now participate in the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year.

7.Sofia Kenin defeated Slovakia’s Ana Carolina Shamlova and won the WTTENIS title:-

American Sofia Kenin defeated Slovakia’s Anna Carolina Shamlova and won the WTA Hobart International Tennis title. Unseed Kenin beat Shamlova 6-3, 6-0 in the final. This is the first WTA title of 20 years of Kenin.

8.Abhinav Shaw becomes youngest gold medallist in shooting:-

At the Khelo India Youth Games in Pune today, ten year old Abhinav Shaw became the youngest gold medallist in shooting.  He teamed up with Mehuli Ghosh to help West Bengal win the 10m air rifle mixed team event. Delhi’s Devanshi Rana bagged gold in Under-21 girls  25m pistol event. Maharashtra once again dominated the gymnastics arena at the Games to wrap up the Under-21 category with a whopping nine medals on the last day of gymnastics events.
With 18 medals comprising nine gold, six silver and three bronze in gymnastics,  Maharashtra were also crowned champions.In Hockey under -21 category,  Odisha beat Uttar Pradesh in the first semi-final 2-1 while Haryana proved better than Punjab with a 3-1 win. Odisha and Haryana will now play for gold on Tuesday.
In overall medals tally, Maharashtra completed its half century of gold medals. Delhi follows with 36 gold and Haryana 31 golds so far.

9.Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, became the chairman of the committee, constituted to deal with the shortfall in revenues from the GST being implemented:-

 

With the introduction of the GST and the object and service tax, the Chairman of the seven-member Council of Ministers, set up to deal with the shortfall in revenue of the states, will be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar. The GST Council, chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, had decided to constitute the Group of Ministers in its recent meeting. According to the notification of the council, this committee will analyze data and suggest ways to increase revenue and corrective measures. During April to November, the revenue of many states including Bihar, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and Gujarat has declined. However, the revenue of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim and Nagaland has increased.
