1.Government banks prepare for merger, instructions given to RBI :-

The Central Government has asked the Reserve Bank to make a list for the merger of 21 public sector banks. An official said that in the meeting held this month, the officials of the Finance Ministry asked the Reserve Bank to give time for consolidation. He said that this can be done for good regulation of banks. It should be known that Bank of Baroda Chairman Ravi Venkatesan last month had said that the merger of government banks is necessary if there is no loss to the market.

Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India and the US are participants in the digital sector and there is a strong relationship between mutual benefit between the two countries. Mr. Prasad was addressing a seminar organized by US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and Indian Commercial Consulate. The seminar was organized in San Francisco on August 28, 2018. The subject was ” Promoting Digital India and Economic Growth ” . American companies like Amazon, Apple, MasterCard, Walt Disney, IVP and PayPal were part of the seminar. Shri Prasad gave information to participants on data security topics in India.

 

3.Policy Commission with “Mobility-Week” launched: India’s First World Mobility Summit-2018  :-

Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Deputy Chairman, Policy Commission and Chief Executive Officer, Amitabh Kant inaugurated a series of events in view of the “Mobility-Week” run from 31st August to 06 September, 2018. This move is in relation to India’s first World Mobility Summit-2011, which will be held at Vigyan Bhavan on 07 and 08 September, 2018. The summit will be inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Various groups will be involved in the events held throughout the week, including start-ups, academic personalities, corporations, policy analysts, NGOs, civil society etc. In the meantime, the preparation of the nation will be taken to deal with the Mobility scenario, future prospects and opportunities and challenges. These programs will be organized on academic conferences, roundtable discussions, subject-based workshops, so that the vision for meaningful dialogue with the World Mobility Summit – 2018 can be prepared.

 

4.In order to promote innovation culture in higher education institutions, the Human Resource Development Ministry launches innovation cell and atalic ranking of institutes (ARIIA) on innovation achievements :-

Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar and Minister of State for Human Resource Development Dr. Satya Pal Singh launched an Atal Ranking of Innovations Cell and Institutions (ARIIA) on innovation achievements in AICTE here to promote innovation culture in higher education institutions. Innovation Cell is the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development and it has been set up in AICTE campus. Its aim is to systematically promote innovation culture in higher education institutions across the country.

On this occasion, Shri Prakash Javadekar said that we have to create an innovation culture in India and for this it will have to encourage higher education institutions to create innovation clubs in their premises. He said that without any innovation, no country can achieve sustainable development and prosperity. The Minister also said that 21st Century is the Century of Innovation and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi called the 2010-2020 decade as “Innovation Decade”. India was ranked 86th in terms of innovation on the world stage five years ago, which has reached 57th place this year.

 

5.National Mission on Government e-marketing place  :-

National Government e-marketing space mission will be launched on September 5, 2018 to adopt and accelerate the government e-marketing space by the major central ministries, state governments and their agencies. The objective of the National Mission is to promote holisticness, transparency and effectiveness in government procurement and make cashless, contactless and paperless transactions. This will increase effectiveness and save government spending.

The mission will be inaugurated by the Chief Ministers on the state headquarters during the special six-week special drive from September 6 to October 15, 2018 and will include important areas and key programs, about the use of GEM for buyers and sellers. IEC campaign will be started with training in For registration of the buyers, registration campaigns and vendor registration campaigns for government agencies will be given special focus on MSME.

 

6.Signing a $ 375 million loan for improving the efficiency of irrigation between Madhya Pradesh and the Asian Development Bank in Madhya Pradesh :-

A $ 375 million loan agreement has been signed to improve the efficiency of irrigation between the Government of India and the Asian Development Bank in Madhya Pradesh, so that the irrigation network can be doubled and the efficiency of the economy doubled.

Madhya Pradesh Irrigation Workshop Improvement Project will benefit more than 8 lakh people of Madhya Pradesh by expanding the irrigation network which is unaffected by the new , highly efficient and climate change for 125,000 hectares of land and improving the use of water in 400 villages. .

 

7.India’s economic growth is expected to rise to 7.4 percent – the Reserve Bank :-

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has projected the economic growth of India to grow at 7.4 per cent during the current financial year. The RBI said that with the rise of industrial activity and good monsoon, the economy will get boost. These things have come up in the RBI annual report. According to RBI’s report, its monetary policy will remain in force for achieving medium term target of 4% of retail inflation. From this, estimates of growth are expected to grow. Expressing confidence in the central bank, the country’s Current Account Deficit will get the support of comprehensive foreign direct investment.

 

8.India’s Swapna Burman won the Gold Medal in the Heptathlon of Asian Games :-

In Athletics women’s Heptathlon, India’s dream Barman has made history by winning gold medal. India has won gold for the first time in this tournament. In Indonesia, on 11th day of the 18th Asian Games, India has won four medals including two gold. The President and the Prime Minister have greeted all the medal winners. In the men’s triple jump competition, Arpinder Singh gave the country gold medal after 48 years Dutti Chand won the silver medal in women’s 200 meters race. He also won a silver medal in the 100 meter race. In men’s 1500 meter race, Manjeet Singh and Jinson Johnson have qualified for the final.

 

9.A dollar cost was Rs 71 :-

Indian rupee touches the level of 71 today against the US currency. This is the all time low level of rupees. The rupee was trading at 70.97 against the dollar at 9.30 in the morning. It is believed that at the end of the month, rising demand for the American currency from the importers and rising prices of crude has put pressure on the rupee.

Head of the Kedia Commodity said that there are signs of weakness in the rupee. He said, “If we talk about September quarter, then the rupee can touch 72 level.” According to him, in the second quarter of the current financial year, the rupee is likely to be in the range of 71.50 to 72.

 

10.Three Ranji matches to be played in Green Park, BCCI issued schedule :-

The BCCI has issued the schedule for Ranji matches starting from November 1. This time the UP team has been placed in Group C in Odisha, Haryana, Services, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Goa, Jharkhand and Assam. There will be eight UP matches in the Ranji Trophy. In the ongoing schedule of Ranji, Kanpur Greenpark has received a gift of three matches.

– UP vs Rajasthan from November 28 to December 2

– UP versus Assam from January 7 to January 10
